Criminal wife

The pickpocket takes from your pocket and he becomes a criminal, and when the wife takes thousand dollars from your pocket, you do not consider her to be criminal. You laugh, “Oh, you have taken the money?” “Yes, I’ve taken.” The business is a pickpocket. But in one case we say “criminal,” and one case we say “friend.” The business is the same. Svajanakhya-dasyu. Actually thieves and rogues, but we have named them “relatives.”

Indian imitation; Gandhi and white prestige

India is imitator. Since the Britishers came here, we have become first-class imitator. When the 1914, the war was going on, so it is understood that in high court, Calcutta high court, there is leisure hour, tiffin hour. So all the judges were sitting. So one English judge, he asked Sir Asutosh Mukherji, “Mr. Mukherji, now the Germans are coming, and if so, what you are going to do?” Mr. Mukherji, Sir Asutosh Mukherji, he replied, “Yes, as soon as the Germans will come, we shall offer our respect in this way, ‘Come on, sir.’ ” “So you’ll not counteract? Why?” “You have taught us to make like this, so we shall do that. Because you have simply taught us this, how to obey your orders. So anyone who will come, we shall do this.” The idea is the slave mentality… The Englishmen, in an organized way, they taught the Indians how to become servant of the Englishmen. We have seen. It is Gandhi’s movement that he dismantled this idea of white prestige. Otherwise, we were taught like that. Formerly, in our childhood, it was the advancement of civilization if one could imitate the English fashion.

From Srila Prabhupada’s lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.7.38–39 — September 30, 1976, Vrndavana

*Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma) was born on October 2, 1869

Heavenly typewriter

If you send the typewriter to heaven, what does it mean? It is to be worked as typewriter. Does it mean because it has gone to heaven, the work has changed? No. The work will continue. Either in this hell or heaven, typewriter will kat, kat, kat, kat. That’s all. Similarly, our position is servant. If you don’t become servant of Krsna, then you serve, you become servant of your wife, your children, your relative, your country, your nation, your dog.

Real contraceptive method

Real contraceptive method is that if you are unable to deliver your son from the clutches of birth and death, do not become a father.

“I must see Krsna”

Whether you are lusty or a thief or a murderer or whatever it may be — somehow or other you must develop this eagerness, this desire: “I must see Krsna.” Then Krsna will be seen.

Grhastha sannyasi

A Grhastha or householder like you, you are also tridandi. Because you have sacrificed everything, your life, your home, and your child, so you are a tridandi sannyasi, in fact. So continue this attitude seriously and sincerely, so you will be also as good as a sannyasi even though you are in the dress of a Grhastha.

Krsna does not forget non-offenders

Krsna says, “From Me everything — remembrance and forgetfulness — come.” Those who want to forget Krsna, Krsna helps him to forget: “All right, you forget.” He does not give. He does not dictate from the within. And one who is foolishly in bad association, unfortunately forgets Krsna, then Krsna gives him chance. Offenders are very nuisance. Krsna… Too much offender, purposefully, guru-Vaisnava, his position is very difficult. But by chance if one forgets Krsna, Krsna does not forget him.

Why factories?

Innocent men, women, they are kept in that factory simply for livelihood. A little work will provide his needs. Nature has given so much facility. They can grow little food anywhere. The cows are there in the pasturing ground. Take milk and live peacefully. Why you open factories?
