I have a 2 book deal with St Martin's Minotaur and the first, Love & Death in Burgundy, comes out May 2. It's already gotten some wonderful blurbs from authors like Deborah Crombie, Rhys Bowen and another French-themed author, Cara Black. I'm close to launching a brand new web site (swme URL: susancshea.com) that will feature the French series and will include an excerpt from L&D. Look for it around the middle of this month (Feb 2017).(less)

There are so many reasons why authors do it, and they change over time. Some do it to disguise their gender (using initials is one way) because they think readers will make inaccurate assumptions about the book if they identify it with a woman or a man. Today, with the onset of book sale tracking, authors whose previous books haven't done terribly well might be tempted to start 'fresh' with a new name and a clean slate when they are trying to sell their books. I am thrilled that Minotaur has given me a two-book contract for a new series set in rural France, even though their research will show I'm a midlist (not best-selling ona national scale) author.(less)

Big Money, Big Temptation

MIXED UP WITH MURDER once again throws fundraiser Dani O'Rourke into situations where wealthy people and those who wants some of that wealth create havoc, tragedy, and some dark comedy along the way.

There's so much money being thrown at what I call trophy art today - name paintings by name artists in popular periods - that it inhibits the past collectors like museums and art lovers, and favors a Read more of this blog post »
