Friends on Friday: Meet Author Karen Sandler

Any Excuse for a Celebration
by Karen Sandler

In my family, any holiday was an excuse for a party, and usually included a table full of food. New Year’s Day was ham and potato salad, Easter featured deviled eggs and bunny cakes (and plenty of candy since Lent had ended), there were special meals for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, barbecues for Memorial Day, softball games in the park for...

Life is full of surprises...

Sleep is the last thing on Captain Doug Reese's mind when he finds himself in charge of a disabled aircraft carrier and a disheartened crew.  Once the ship pulls safely into dry dock, however, his insomnia becomes an issue and Doug is ordered into counseling.

Rather than risk losing his new command, Doug complies-- not by going to see a shrink--but by seeking out the lowest ranking Navy Chaplain he ca...

Friends On Friday: Meet Author Barbara McMahon

Indies are Us!

About a year ago I attended a writer’s conference where one of the new ideas was writers bonding together for support as we venture into the world of Indie publishing.  This is the new normal for many writers these days–we write the books, then publish them independently from any established publisher–Indie.  Because there is so much to learn about this new venture, it pays to band together with different writers bringing different strengths to the group to get us all...

Friends on Friday: Meet Author Linda Barrett

LONELY WRITER SEEKS COMPANY!

Writers live in caves. The work is done alone, by ourselves except for the characters that talk to us. Hmm…talk may be too nice a term. Characters argue with us a lot, insisting we don’t understand them. Yeah, I know. I know this sounds weird and a little scary, but that’s really the way it works.

Every once in awhile, however, we emerge from our cocoon seeking the light. Seeking friends. Human friends. Seeking reassurance that we’re still part of the real world. So...

ONE NIGHT IN RENORogenna BrewerMay 2013
Life is full of unexpected turns…
Jenny Albright’s gas tank runs as dry as her luck in the Nevada desert. Then Navy SEAL Garrett “Itch” Erickson swoops in to rescue her, her young son and their beagle pup. Although the stranded single mom is reluctant to accept help from a stranger, befriending the Good Samaritan SEAL might be the best decision Jenny’s made in the past seventy-two hours.
Whether Jenny...

A Sweet New Cover for a Sweet Novella

It's no secret I design ebook covers.  What started out of necessity quickly turned into a passion, or as I like to call anything outside of writing---procrastination.

Hobby.  Business.  Whatever.
The original cover for One Night in Reno is the one that started it all.  This sweet little story was deserving of a more fitting cover.  Now available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble...
And coming soon to the Apple iBook Store.
What do you think, did I hit my mar...

The Importance Of Being Ernest...Hemingway and Productivity

Hemingway (right)Lately I've been beating myself up for being a slow writer.  I have a book due and I'm well past the extended deadline.  In fact I shouldn't even be wasting words on this blog, but I've ignored all other aspects of my life for close to two months now.  Except writing and--well, cover design--because frankly, those couple hours in the evening pay the bills.

I schedule deadlines with the reasonable expectation of producing 1000 words a day, all the while thinking...
