Updating Covers: Here We Go Again #MondayBlogs

New Cover Coming February 2014One Night in Reno and One Star-Spangled are getting cover makeovers.  Again, you say?

One of the best things about self-publishing is the ability to make changes to your books.  I recently heard about something called a change log, a page at the back of an ebook where changes to text and covers are noted.

It's a way for authors to communicate the fluidity of ebooks to readers.  Covers can be updated, typos can be corrected and even stories can chang...

Holding Out For A Hero #MondayBlogs

It was the summer of Jaws.  I was 14 and had just seen The Movie of the Summer before going to visit my grandparents in Sarasota, Florida like I did every year.  They lived near Siesta Keys white, sandy beaches.  Like most teen girls at the time I was into sunbathing before anyone considered it more dangerous than sharks.

I’d stretch out on a raft daydreaming and drifting out into the ocean, usually not very far.  Eventually I'd paddle my way back or the waves would pull me...

My One Word 2014 #MondayBlogs

writ-er n. One who writes, especially as an occupation.

It's January and time to set a one word goal.

Choosing one word forces clarity and helps  concentrate efforts.

Last year was a year of transition and I choose My One Word for 2013 accordingly. I didn't expect my first year as a full time writer to be easy. I would have liked it to pay the bills, but I wasn't expecting th...

Friends on Friday: Arlene Hittle, Tina Russo & Debra Salonen #FridayReads

I made room for three friends this last Friends on Friday post of the year.

All three have Christmas Novellas out.  So if you're loading up your ereader for a nice long holiday break or you get a new Kindle Fire HDX for Christmas you might want to check them out.

Oh, and there is one other reason I grouped these friends together.  I designed all four covers.  Shh...  One is even one of my premade covers, but I'll never tell.

Meet Mini Winnie in my year end recap #MondayBlogs

I've gone through more virtual assistants this year than I'd care to recount. But I think this VA is here to stay. Nothing fazes her. Even the overwhelming  responsibility of being my assistant rolls off her like a wave.

We'll call this one Mini Winnie.  For WIN--Women In the Navy (she even looks like she's wearing the old winter uniform).  And because I think this is going to be a win-win situation.

It only took me a year after quitting the day job to get my act together.  Despite...
