Halloween's Coming!

Okay, I write werewolf and vampire novels so Halloween should be my favorite time of year, right? Seasons are my favorite time of year. But living in Southern states for most of my life where the temperature changes from hot, hot, hot, to cold, hot...that cold blip was winter...I don't get to experience a lot of seasons. In eastern Oklahoma and New Jersey, Wisconsin and Colorado, fall was a ...

What I Love About Redroom!

Well, many things--the blogs, the interaction with fans and authors, the neat way in which the site is set up. Having a place to list our reviews!!! *sigh*. One of my publishers just asked for the reviews we received a couple of years ago--this one for Winning the Highlander's Heart. And though most I posted on my website with links, a couple of them, for whatever reason, I didn't. Trying to find ...

Promotion is Like a Great Mystery Story!

260 website views yesterday? What happened? Not sure. :) Write mysteries, anyone? Promotions are like mystery stories. What promotion works? It's hard to tell. Sometimes sales are immediate, sometimes it takes longer to see interest turn into a sale.I make award-winning bears and I find it takes a lot of looks at my teddy bear site often before someone finally commits to ordering a bear or two. ...

Need More Places to be Interviewed?

Literally, there are tons and tons of places to be interviewed or that host guest blogs or review books. If you look at the number of followers, or the stats on the site, you can get a feel for whether the site is visited much or not. Lots of visitors? Lots of people you've never seen? Super blog posts? Author interviews? Offers to review, interview, host? Check with the host and see about ...

Surrogates

Have you seen the movie with Bruce Willis? My son came in yesterday and I transferred a car to him, and then we went to see the movie. Really enjoyed it. But then we watched Taken with Liam Neelson and talk about a fast paced action story. This morning I'm feeling really sick, but I have to work. Have to. There are only 3 of us that work on a Saturday and I'm the only full time person who will be ...

No Electricity...or No Internet...Rain is Fine but...

Aren't they beautiful??? Plight of the Wolf has to have a new title, but Sourcebooks is working on the cover now. :) Storms have knocked out my electricity (yesterday) and the Internet (the day before)...so we've got more storms on their way today and tonight. ARCs are Going Out!!!

Advanced Readers Copies are going out for Legend of the White Wolf! It's exciting and scary. Exciting, because it means they're going out for reviews. Scary, because you never know how reviewers are going to like your book. For To Tempt the Wolf, they went out and I never heard a peep about it, but reviews across the board were great! This time, I get a couple of copies to send! So who to pick? ...

Internet Down!

Violent storms last night shut down my Internet, but then when I returned home, it still wasn't working, so put in a call to my computer programmer son to help me out!I'd already tried the pull a plug trick on a number of wires...but with his sage wisdom, got things to light up the way they should, but still no success. My router is going out, he informed me. So after rewiring things, I heard my ...

Now Start the Critiques! But Should You Have Critiques in the First Place???

To have critique partners or not, that is the question! Some authors have beta readers, writers or non-writers who read over their manuscript to see if it sounds plausible, needs more action, adventure, sexual tension, just whatever. Some have critique partners or groups that they use to help hone their work. Some send in their work cold turkey. What's the right way?Just like writing, whatever you ...
