Happy Halloween!

Don't you just love the pumpkins nowadays? I was lucky if I could carve a couple of triangle eyes, nose and a bunch of pegged teeth. But now? Well, it's like me and drawing. Stick figures is about all I can manage! So I leave the pumpkin carving to wizards who can create an impressive howling wolf! But I must say that the person who did might be a werewolf. Takes one to know one, right? :)

Here is a wolf who isn't quite sure about a pumpkin. I'm certain the wolf wouldn't be quite certain if a bunch of children bounced by in costume either. :) But wolves are curious creatures, so he'd probably be trying to figure it all out.

And this is the pumpkin that did NOT get away!

Even if you're not exactly into Halloween, hope you all have a delightful Sunday!!!

Killing the Bloodlust is done, off, and now...I've got to come up with something else!

Have fun today!!!

Wolf Fever is another winner of a story that kept me on the edge with its unique master storytelling and plot. There are villains of different flavors and degrees that prevented me from guessing which way Ms. Spear was going to go. I enjoyed the brisk dialogue and the insights it gave me as I read. I liked Carol and Ryan as a couple and Ryan's sister is a hot ticket. The quality of writing is as strong as ever and a must read for paranormal wolf fans who enjoy a romance laced with humor along with great suspense. It sure made it a hard to put down book. For me, I didn't want to stop reading, even when it was time to go to bed. Who wants sleep when they're in the middle of reading a story by Ms. Spear? Her writing is pure entertainment.

************
Thanks to Xeranthemum for making my week! And considering how I've been feeling after the TOOTH implant, I needed something to make me smile...even if it hurts to do so.

You know how nurses will ask what level of pain you're dealing with from 1 to 10? Mine was way off the scale, batting more of a thousand. ALL my teeth were hurting on the right side of my head, even my ear was aching I was in so much pain. And the bleeding wouldn't stop. I was in tears yesterday, not sure if it was due to some of the medicine or strictly the pain, but I was totally miserable. I had to even drive back into town to see if the bleeding was all right, and get a stronger pain medicine. I'm the type that rarely takes anything more than an over-the-counter pill, even if I have a splitting sinus headache, I often don't bother taking anything--just because I can't bother to stop what I'm doing to take something for it. But this time, I couldn't ignore the pain. *sigh*

So much for this being less traumatic than having the cracked molar pulled.

Yesterday it was ice packs, today heating pads. Instead of a pointy chin, I have a square jaw--on one side. I look like I'm sucking on a watermelon. Hmmm....how can I fit this experience into a story???

Unfortunately, the pain is kicking in again, and though I was hoping I could sleep later this morning, I was up at 5 AM again. Taking the pain pills makes me nauseous so I ate half a bagel to try and coat my stomach a bit. The good part is that I really can't go to work again today as badly as I feel. And that means that I can work on some of the interviews I need to do for the blog tour. The bad part is what if they don't make any sense? LOL :)

Off to take an antibiotic and write another interview. Have a super Friday!!! TGIF!!! And hopefully over the weekend I'll have enough of a break that by the time Monday rolls around, I'll be feeling more or less normal. Hmm, less normal...is that like...paranormal?

It's Finally Time...

I was working on the finale of Killing the Bloodlust, which appropriately will be in the newsletter on Halloween! I couldn't have timed it better, even though I never planned it that way!

Well, horror of horrors, I have to go to the dentist for the implant today, and hope I can work tonight. Late night tonight.

Don't you love this wolf? Okay, I'm off to the dentist. Have a super Thursday!!!

Back to The Wolf and the SEAL

What with the trip and working on Forbidden Love edits and sending it off to an agent! and sending a YA to an editor, The Trouble with Demons, and making teddy bears, I haven't had time to work on The Wolf and the SEAL and it has been calling to me, beseeching me to come and work on it some more.

Taking a break from a current work in progress can be good. It gives me a chance to write and work on other stuff, and then go back to that work with fresh eyes.

I love the story! It's sexy, and fun, and suspenseful, and mysterious. How can it not be with a SEAL in it?

And already my critique partners have fallen in love with a female character in the story that is new. Sooo, if you all love her too, I'll just have to do something about it!

I've also sent out some PDF copies of Wolf Fever to reviewers. If anyone has an active review site and would like a chance to review the December release, just email me. :)

Okay, another day at work....I did move all the books from the shelves not bolted to the wall at least. And our volunteer did come back to help shelve more books. But the carts quickly filled back up.

Off to revise some more on The Wolf and the SEAL before work! Hope you all have a super hump day!!!

Oh, and what are you all doing for Halloween? Anything? I'm settling down with my SEAL, and hope to have half of the novel written by this weekend, and then it's downhill from there--and I mean that in a good way!!! :)

No Halloween decorations this year. I'm not even fussy about Thanksgiving because my daughter will be going to see her dad for the holiday. And my son will be busy with navigator training.

Maybe I'll get some candy that I like for Halloween. We don't get any trick or treaters out here....oh, I do have a house warming to go to for a friend and coworker on Saturday. Hmm, maybe I'll take her something Halloweenish for her party. :)

So what do you all plan to do???

Carved Stone

This carved stone was at the entrance to one of the Scottish castles. Can you imagine carving such intricacies into stone and so early on? I tried to upload a bigger picture of it on the blog, but it was taking forever. Just click on it to see a larger view. :)

Thanks to Yadnky for reading Destiny of the Wolf and another lovely review!

In this second book to Terry Spear's Werewolf series, we are introduced to a few more paranormal elements that add a little more spice to the story. Dream mating makes an appearance as we learn that while wolves may search for their mate their whole lives there is another way to become mated to the one you're supposed to be with. Albeit this way isn't entirely satisfying for either party, but it certainly adds a unique quality to the story. A human psychic also makes an appearance and throws unexpected twists into the already thick plot of our main characters.

With a sprinkle of comedic relief moments throughout this heavily suspenseful story, the reader will never be bored between character or scene changes, all of which flow from one tension filled moment to the next beautifully. Again, imagery plays a major role and readers will love how Terry Spear masters that element. Whats more is her mastery to keep the reader guessing all the way to end where the murderer is revealed during a Thanksgiving feast.

Recommended reading for those who don't mind playing a little game of Clue while reading about those who believe in avenging the ones you love. Yadkny's Review Happily Ever After Reviews

I loved the "sprinkle of comedic relief moments"... Humor comes naturally during rough times for me. It's the way my dad always looked at life and how no matter how tough things become, I see the world. I can no more eliminate the humor from my writing as I can the serious side of nature and write strictly humorous. I've tried writing for a humorous romance, but my stories, I was told, were too serious. I tried writing for a dark paranormal romance line, but I have too much humor in my stories.

I'm grateful to Sourcebooks for allowing me to write as I am! :)

Hope you have a super Tuesday! Yesterday was a month of Mondays all chocked into one Monday. Today has GOT to be better!!!

First, I had to do the money report for Saturday and Sunday, but Sunday's report didn't print out. Then one of the ladies had to run to the dentist and took the front door key with her. Then (there were only 2 of us...so we were swamped all day), someone went to get the front book drop and discovered the bin was full, pulled it away from the book drop, must have gone to get another, got waylaid, and never went back. When I checked on the book drop when I finally had the chance, we had a mountain of books on the floor, and a full bin. After filling up a cart and another bin, I finally had it emptied, only to go back about 3 hours later to find a full bin and books all over the floor again. *sigh* We are so short on help, we had every cart full with books to shelve and the only volunteer we had working to shelve was so frustrated (she's a volunteer and faster than Mighty Mouse), walked out.

AND she discovered the sorting shelves are not attached to the wall, so I've been removing the books off them before they fall on someone and kill or badly injure them. argh.

So, yep, it was a month of Mondays all on one Monday!

Back to Wolves

I'm working on an Irvin clan bear order today, but I also got another bear order from a lady who's name I love--Wulff. And I had a fan ask about a wolf bear. Yes, I've been asked this several times, and I do plan to make one, when I have the time! Maybe I'll call it my Wulff bear, or Wulf. :) Since the name of my bear company is Wilde and Woolly Bears, a Wilde and Woolly Wulf(f) Bear would work, wouldn't it?

But in the meantime, I finally got the newsletter off, and I believe next weekend will be the end of Killing the Bloodlust. :) Hope everyone is enjoying it!

So today, I'm into bears and finishing edits on Forbidden Love. We had huge storms last night--tornado watches, etc.

Don't you love the wolves at play? Who wants to be the wolf in the middle? Lots of loving or lots of picking on,what would your story be???

Hope you all are having a lovely Sunday!

Bundled up on the North Sea!

i Dunnottar Castle, near Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Scotland off the east coast of Scotland was the first day of our trip. As you can see, I was bundled up that first day. It was windy, cold and situated high above the North Sea. It was the only day I wore a hat and gloves, although I believe I pulled up my hood on other occasions.

The oddest part was that it was warmer on the castle grounds even though many of the areas were very much open to the sea winds, but closer to where we parked the car, which was farther from the sea, the colder it got!

Everything was covered in moss and I wondered if it would have been as mossy earlier in the history of the castle. :)

Note the interior walls weren't as thick as outer walls, and see how green everything is even in October. Also, I didn't have to bend down to enter the buildings, although that's probably because I'm not that tall. But here, it's probably about 6 foot tall at the opening where I was standing. Hmm, as I write this, I looked back up at the picture above, and it appears this is one of the openings that even I would have to have bent down to enter.

One of the defense measures used in castles was to make entryways lower so that the enemy would have to crouch upon entering, giving them a decided disadvantage. I wouldn't have had that disadvantage as I didn't have to bend over hardly ever. But many of the entryway heights were only an inch or so above my own height. I always think of people of earlier times being shorter than the men of our day, but this wasn't always true. Which means they were about 5'5".

I commented once to my Playfair Scots descendants that my grandfather was so short, and it must have been that side of the family. He was Welsh, but his grandparents were Playfair and a German Cramer. But I was told that they were all tall. So it must have been his Irish Welsh/Kelly family that were smaller. Not sure. I haven't been in touch with any of the family on that side, couldn't find them, so they may say Nay! to that too. :)

My computer is still not working, but when it is, I wanted to show pictures of the day we returned to Edinburgh. On the drive back, we were surrounded by pea soup. I hope the pictures turned out well. It was perfect for the way I had written the opening pages of Heart of the Highland Wolf. Which the marketing staff is now working on, so hopefully it will be up for preorders soon.

I'm off to another day of work! Have a great Saturday and I should have Killing the Bloodlust up tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. What with being on the trip, I couldn't upload it and working nonstop, no time this week. Work has been absolutely crazy. So tomorrow, I hope to have the story up. :) Thanks to all my fans who have written, hoping I'll send the next installment soon!!!

Urquhart Castle

A nice trebuchet /catapult to storm the castle with.

Here is another lovely castle that is in remains. When I first envisioned going to Scotland, I really hadn't thought I'd love the castles that were in ruins as much as the ones that were "whole." But I have to admit, I loved the castle ruins for all those we saw! Envisioning the Highlanders living in these castles was much more satisfying than seeing furnished castles to me. :)

I loved this castle!

And here is a lovely new review of Heart of the Wolf by Happily Ever Afters!

"Terry Spear creates beautiful imagery in her writing. Her characters really jump off the page with their personalities in both human and wolf forms. It's refreshing to read a shifter story with characters that really embrace their animalistic differences and welcome the changes that come with every full moon. There's no animosity or disgust, it's pure primal instinct and enjoyment. It's a warm tale of finding your first love and then loosing them only to find them again years later and know that the feelings haven't changed.

I also enjoyed the fact that there's really never a dull moment in this story. It was almost like reading a script for a TV. show. In this story Bella goes undercover to track down a killer with the sexy Devlyn by her side while trying to avoid the man who's been after her for over a century (remember we're talking about wolf shifters, so their life spans are a little different). The rest of the cast helps thicken the plot with their mysteriousness and just when you think you know someone or something... you don't. There's also plenty of plot tension and sexual frustration, so the overall resulting release on both are very well received and welcomed. The ending of this book stands true to the definition of happily-ever-after and anyone who reads it won't be disappointed."~~Yadkny's Review

Hope you all have a terrific Friday!
