Japan
I've been having a hard time taking in the devastation in Japan. On top of everything else going on in the world, its almost surreal in its extremity. Those poor people. Earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear melt down. If it was a disaster movie, the critics wouldn't believe it.

Knitting: Baby Swing Jacket
No, I'm not expecting to be a grandma anytime soon, but it is the first baby item I've done. This is for a friend's baby girl. Made with Pagewood Farms yarn, from a pattern by my friend Sharon Mooney, co-owner of the Yarn Deli in Redlands. The camera flash washed out the center of the garment a bit, but around the hem and sleeves the color is right.

Inequality in Wisconsin
Laying aside equanimity for a moment:
Think the situation in Wisconsin isn't heinous enough? 50 years of labor rights wiped out by a GOP-only vote? Well try this on for size. Teachers union (mostly female) has been stripped of collective bargaining rights. Cop and fire fighter unions (mostly male) and also "public employees," are NOT!
Need I say more? Except maybe "nice juicy lawsuit"?

Knitting: Another Aran Square
Here's the new one. I knitted the square, then the sweater body and sleeves, set the sleeves in, and slip stitched it to the square. My favorite so far!

Criminal Minds: "Valhalla"
I'm getting endless enjoyment from the fact that the bad guy, Doyle, in this arc is the same actor who played the gold-hoarding Russian (?) with the miniature giraffe in a DirecTV commercial.
