Pumpkinheads_preorder.png

If you preorder Pumpkinheads — my upcoming graphic novel with Faith Erin Hicks — we’ll send you this really cute art print signed by Faith and me. AND you might win a trip to our launch party in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Aug. 27th.

You can order Pumpkinheads anywhere for this offer. (If you want a signed and personalized copy, try my local indie bookstore, the Bookworm in Omaha.)

Just submit your receipt here. Open to U.S. and Canada residents. (Except Quebec. I’m genuinely sorry, Quebec.)

Order personalized books from my local indie bookstore!

Because I have two books coming out this fall — Pumpkinheads on Aug. 27 and Wayward Son on Sept. 24 — I’ve decided to sign and personalize any books ordered through my local bookstore, The Bookworm.

The Bookworm always has signed copies of my books in stock. But if you order this summer/fall, I’ll also personalize your books, as many as you want. “Personalization” means I’ll write your name on the title page — or the name of the person you’re giving the book to. (“Dear Cath Avery….”) And I’ll sign it, of course.

This includes all of my books, even the Runaways collections.

The only catch is that your order won’t be shipped until after Wayward Son comes out on Sept. 24, 2019.

So, if you want signed books, you can get those anytime.

If you want personalized books, those will get shipped in September. Don’t forget to write the name you want me to use in the personalizaton in the “Notes.” After October, I’ll close personalization again.

ORDER HERE.

Do you live outside the United States?

If you need international shipping, the most affordable place to order a signed copy of Carry On is through DFTBA.com. They will also have signed copies of Wayward Son.

If you have any questions about this stuff, hit me up on Twitter!

'PUMPKINHEADS' TOUR DATES!

D4SRd85XkAMicnB.jpg-large.jpeg

Faith Erin Hicks and I are coming to a city near you! (Well. If you live in America, east of the Mississippi River.)

These events are going to be so much fall-themed fun. I’ll sign up to five books, including Pumpkinheads. You can find more information about each event here.

I’ll have signed Wayward Son bookplates at these stops! And I’ll be heading out on a separate Wayward Son tour in September.

Faith and I are also coming to BookCon New York City in May. My events are listed here. My BookCon signings will be posted soon.

It’s been a few years since I’ve toured, and I’m really excited to see you guys!

Coming September 24 -- Wayward Son!

Wayward Son

WAYWARD SON ARRIVES SEPTEMBER 24, 2019. Pre-order here — or by calling your local bookstore!

If you would like a copy signed and personalized, you can order one from my local bookstore, The Bookworm. Those copies will be shipped the week after the book comes out.

Here's everything I know right now:

The ebook, audiobook and UK edition should come out about the same time as the U.S. hardcover. Canada will get the U.S. edition, also on Sept. 24.

If you’re outside of the U.S. or the UK, Book Depository is usually a safe bet for online ordering.

I’m working with DFTBA Records to offer signed editions of Wayward Son their site. They have reasonably priced international shipping. I'll announce on Twitter when that is available.

I do not expect a Carry On/Wayward Son box set this year.

I will be touring! My graphic novel, Pumpkinheads, comes out Aug. 27th. I'll be touring with artist Faith Erin Hicks. I'll tour again the week after Wayward Son comes out.

THIS IS NOT THE FINAL WAYWARD SON COVER. I’ll have that soon.

I want to thank you sincerely for waiting for this book. And for sharing Carry On with your friends. It really helped me justify writing a sequel.

And thank you for being so enthusiastic and open. This last year has been a blast.

Vote for Eleanor & Park! If you'd like to!

Ah! Eleanor & Park made it into the semifinals of the Goodreads Choice Awards in the Best of the Best category. It’s in absurdly good company. Thank you for voting! If you’re still feeling it, I’d very much appreciate another vote :)

MINT CONDITION: FANGIRL IN PAPERBACK!

Fangirl came out in paperback this week, and it turned out even cuter than I was expecting. (And I knew what to expect!) The best part is definitely the mint green sprayed edges. Only the first printing has these, so don’t sleep on it.

Inside, there are two full color illustrations — one brand new one by Mara Miranda-Escota and one by cover artist Noelle Stevenson that was previously only available in the UK edition. There’s also a new introduction written by me, reflecting back to why I wrote the book. (Back when Baz and Simon were just a glimmer in my eye.)

The paperback should be available in most bookstores that sell young adult books. If you’d like to order it from outside the U.S., your best bet is probably Wordery or Book Depository.

My publisher, Wednesday Books, is running a fun Instagram contest to celebrate the release. You can win an EMERGENCY DANCE PARTY T-shirt.

I still can’t believe it’s been five years since this book came out. Thank you for letting Cath and Levi and Simon and Baz (and me) onto your shelves

The FANGIRL paperback is coming -- and it's cute!

Fangirl turns five years old this year, and to celebrate, it’s making its U.S. debut in paperback! You can find the new paperback edition on shelves November 6th.

 Finally in paperback! November 6th!

Finally in paperback! November 6th!

My editor Sara Goodman and I talked a lot about how we could make this edition special. With the Carry On paperback, we went with an entirely new cover. (A good decision, I think!)

But the original Fangirl cover is so good. Nobody on the team wanted to walk away from that Noelle Stevenson illustration.

So we decided to keep the original cover and add a few new details, including an introduction from me (boring) and stained page edges (very cool! green!).

The most exciting special feature is a new full-color illustration by artist Mara Miranda-Escota. If you follow me on Tumblr, you’ve probably seen lots of Mara’s art.

Here’s her take on Lincoln, the protagonist of my first book, Attachments:

And here’s Simon from Carry On; this is my laptop wallpaper:

Mara has done portraits of the entire cast of Fangirl, including Alejandro, Nick and Courtney. (These are deep cuts!)

If you’d like a signed and personalized copy of the Fangirl paperback, you can pre-order through my hometown indie bookstore — The Bookworm. I’ll personalize your entire order — if you order by October 31st. Make sure to leave a note in the comments, saying whether you want it personalized and giving me the name.

Catch up with the RUNAWAYS! Vol. 2 is out this month!

runaways trade cover.jpg

I’m having the time of my life writing the monthly Runaways comic for Marvel. The second collection comes out this month, and it’s got my favorite issues so far. I hope you’ll give it a shot!

If you like my young adult books, Runaways is probably right up your alley. (Lots of dialogue. Intense friendships. Ethical problems. Kissing.)

I know that diving into comics can be intimidating… Runaways is a revival of an older title, but we’ve really worked to make it accessible and enjoyable for new readers. Start with the first trade paperback, RUNAWAYS: FIND YOUR WAY HOME, which collects the first six issues by artist Kris Anka, colorist Matt Wilson, and me.

Then you’re ready for the new collection, another six-issue story arc — RUNAWAYS: BEST FRIENDS FOREVER.

I loved writing this arc because we got to pay off some of the stories we’d been building for the last year. Gert finally faces being yanked into the future. Nico finally takes a big risk. Victor finally comes clean. (Lots of finallys!) Plus I felt like Kris and I knew each other so well at this point, we were storytelling in complete synch.

This collection features a few behind-the-scenes extras, including a script excerpt from Issue 11 (Gert’s identity crisis), and Kris’s spectacular style guides for each issue.

It comes out in comic book stores first, on October 17th, and then other bookstores on October 30th.

You can pre-order a signed and personalized copy of RUNAWAYS: BEST FRIENDS FOREVER from my hometown indie bookstore, The Bookworm. Order by Halloween, and I’ll sign/personalize your whole order. (They carry the first trade paperback collection, too.) Make sure to leave a note in the comments, giving me instructions for personalizations.)

Two gorgeous ways to catch up on my Runaways comics

Heyyyy, so, maybe you’ve been curious about that comic book I’ve been writing, but you weren’t ready to make the leap to comics…

GOOD NEWS! The first six issues will be collected into a paperback book.

EVEN BETTER NEWS!  You'll have your choice of two beautiful editions.

Most bookstores and comic shops will have this beauty, with a cover by series artist (and my treasured collaborator) Kris Anka.

RUNAWY2017V1TPB_cvr1.jpg

It's packed with extras, including my initial pitch to bring back Runaways, and all the variant covers. (By Kevin Wada, Adrian Alphona, Skottie Young...)

You can order this edition from any book or comic shop. (Try your local comic shop! They get the book TWO WEEKS EARLY -- April 18th. Other stores will have it May 1st.)

If you'd like a signed copy, you can order through my hometown indie bookstore, The Bookworm in Omaha, Neb.  I’ll sign and personalize your Runaways, as well as any other of my books that you order at that time. Preorder here.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. Barnes & Noble is offering this exclusive special edition, with a different, equally great Kris Anka cover. It's got all the above extras, plus Kris's style guides for each issue (I live for these every month), my original script for Issue 1, and a special introduction written by me. Pre-order here.

Something that's really special/unusual about this story arc: We have the same team working on every issue -- me, Kris, Matt Wilson on color, and Joe Caramagna on letters.
