Rally to Fight Deportation is Oct. 14
In Brattleboro, president Donald Trump's employees are planning to deport a black man to Africa. A rally to support Mamadou Bah will be on October 14 at 1 p.m. at Pliny Park in Brattleboro. Bah does not want to be deported. He is from Guinea. He has been in the USA since 2002. He has never committed a crime.

Blues Concert is November 25
Roomful of Blues will play at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton on November 25 at 7 p.m. In a positive review, Down Beat magazine, which has been published every month since 1934, said Roomful of Blues is “in a class by itself.” The band will play concerts this month in North Carolina and next month in Washington, DC. Solidarity Victory
Activists who had been planning a rally for workers' rights in Deerfield, Massachusetts on October 5 won a victory on October 3. Deerfield borders Greenfield. The activists cancelled the rally. Migrant Justice, a group of Latino farm workers in Vermont, announced it had reached a legally binding agreement with Unilever Corporation, the owner of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Under the deal, wages will go up, and workers won other gains.

Every week, about 600 people read the Valley Post. Donations from readers is the Valley Post's only source of income. To avoid conflicts of interest, we reject advertising and government funding. Please make a donation and/or volunteer for the Valley Post.
Anyone who donates $35 annually, or volunteers four hours per year, becomes a member of the Post. When the Post has 50 or more members, the members will be able to vote for, and run for, the Post's board of directors.

Hundreds to March in Holyoke for Racial Justice
As of September 27, about 250 people had RSVP'd for a march for racial justice. The march will be in Holyoke on October 1. It starts at 12:30 p.m. at 221 Appleton Street. The march is in solidarity with a National March for Racial Justice, the web site of which says, "We are bearing witness to mass incarceration, unequal treatment under the law, and the state-sanctioned destruction of Black, Brown and Native lives...."

Ten Arrested for Civil Disobedience
Ten people were arrested for non-violent civil disobedience in the Connecticut river valley town of Sandisfield, Massachusetts on September 13. The activists blocked construction of a fracked gas pipeline. Fracked gas causes climate change, which the world's leading scientists say is a major threat to earth's ability to support human life.
Dennis Carr was arrested at the protest. He lives in Cummington, Massachusetts. Carr told the Valley Post, “It went well. We intend to continue to resist....
