John Primer in Northampton November 24

Blues musician John Primer will perform at the Iron Horse Music Hall on November 24 at 7 p.m. Primer was in Muddy Waters's band. According to Primer's web site, "John has recorded with, opened for, or played with the Rolling Stones, Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, James Brown and B.B. King."

350 Acres Saved

On October 5 a land trust announced it had saved 350 acres of forestland in two towns that border Northampton. Kestrel Land Trust permanently protected the land in Westhampton and Williamsburg. The USA is losing 6,000 acres of open space to development every day.

Civil Disobedience

Three people from the Brattleboro area were arrested for non-violent civil disobedience on September 28 at a facility that turns coal into electricity in Bow, New Hampshire. 3,500 at Valley Climate Protests

On September 20 in the Valley, around 3,500 people attended marches and rallies calling on politicians to do more to stop climate change. About 1,000 people marched in Northampton. About 1,000 people marched in Brattleboro; photos are at:

Around 600 people attended rallies in Greenfield, according to organizers. The Northampton march was at 5 p.m. At noon in Northampton about 400 people attended a downtown rally.
