Sierra Leone All Stars Concert Is August 18
The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars will perform a concert in Northampton on August 18. The show at the Iron Horse Music Hall will start at 7 p.m. The band performed an outstanding public concert at the same venue last summer. The night club appeared to be almost sold out and most of the people at the concert danced. Also last year, the All Stars released an excellent album, Radio Salone. Most of the songs on the album are Afro-Pop or “high life” style. Some are reggae.

Springfield Area Protests Are July 6 and 11
In June, more than 100 Wal-Mart workers went on strike to protest low wages paid by the billionaire Walton family, the richest family in the world. The Waltons own Wal-Mart and pay barely above minimum wage. Logging is underway in the biggest state park in New Hampshire. Pisgah state park is near Keene and Brattleboro. It includes more than 13,000 acres.
