Protest Against Ben and Jerry's Is June 20
There will be a rally to protest Ben and Jerry's in Deerfield, Massachusetts on June 20 at 11:30 a.m. Deerfield is near Northampton and Greenfield. The rally will be at the Ben and Jerry's store in Deerfield.

Blues Concert July 25: Luther Johnson
Luther Johnson and the Magic Rockers will perform a public concert in Northampton on July 25 at 7 p.m. Johnson, who is also known as Guitar Junior, was born in 1939 in Itta Bena, Mississippi. Johnson worked as guitarist and singer in Muddy Waters’s band for six years, starting in 1973. The Rolling Stones, and Rolling Stone magazine, were named after a Muddy Waters song.
A Way to Cut Taxes
On June 5, a local group announced it has permanently protected from development 46 acres of open space in Hadley, Massachusetts, near Northampton. Saving open space lowers taxes and creates jobs, according to studies by the Vermont Land Trust and the Trust for Public Land.
Towns with the most protected land have the lowest property taxes. That's according to:

Parker Huber has stood in front of the Brattleboro main post office every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. for the past 12 years holding a sign that said, "Silent Witness for Peace." Fracked Gas Rally is June 11
On June 11 in Greenfield, there will be a rally against a proposed fracked gas pipeline. The rally starts at 6 p.m. outside the Greenfield Middle School at 195 Federal Street. At 7 p.m. at the school, state regulators will hold a public hearing about the proposal.

50 Acres Saved Near Greenfield
On May 26, a land protection group announced it had saved 50 acres of open space in Erving, Massachusetts from development. Erving is near Greenfield. The land is at the summit of Poplar Mountain. It is open to the public for hiking. It can be reached from the Erving Town Forest on Old State Road. A sign that says "Poplar Mountain trails" is visible from the road.
