Big Kiss

Bit of a work-in-progress here - this is from a Fez one-pager I'm working on for the next Tripwire.

Fred the Clown: Waves, Sea, Leaky, Moby Dick and Fish

This is more like it. I liked this one enough to redraw the whole thing for some publication or other, adding panels and all. This is the redrawn, updated, fancy-pants version (with hand lettering, which improves upon the original typeset version immeasurably).

Fred the Clown: First Offence

A weaker entry. Fred is supposed to be a bit socially inept and prone to misjudging situations, but in this one, looking at it, he's too aggressively forward to be sympathetic. He deserved the punch, and more besides.

Fred the Clown: Broken Arm, Mended Heart (or: All Because the Lady Loves a Loser)

Two versions exist of this one. The first was the original web version; the second is a reformatted and recoloured version for.... something-or-other. (I think it might have been Tripwire ; it usually is.) The first panel of the reformatted version is drawn digitally, for reasons which escape me now. I tried hard to make it fit in with the rest (given that I was drawing it several years later), and it looks like I might just about have gotten away with it.

Fred the Clown: Advice By Clown

This was my first attempt to do a Fred story structured around the alphabet, a trick which I pulled off more successfully later on with a longer story called Alphabent. Part of the point of Fred as a web strip was as a kind of sketchbook, a place to take ideas for a walk to see if they had legs (yes, I'm sticking with that as a metaphor). So this is a good example of that, an idea which led to a more refined version later on.
