Fred the Clown: Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 4
I did this one the week Ian Dury died. I like it a lot. I think I was nervous about including it in a collection because of its topical nature, but I think now I was maybe overthinking it a bit. It still holds up.

I ended up recycling this strip in a Mugwhump the Great story, hence its exclusion from any Fred collections. Brian Ralph told me he uses it in his cartooning classes, which flattered the hell out of me.

I did a bunch of topical strips, including various ones with a seasonal theme. This was done for the turn of the new millennium. The colours aren't quite right – the joys of being a trial-and-error colourist, I'm afraid.

This one is probably best filed under "blah idea, pretty art." It looks fine, but the script doesn't quite get there. Probably why it never got collected.
