Should I be concerned?
I don’t know how often I’ve heard people discussing how dark scifi is these days. Some complain that older scifi was more often a fun adventure with fascinating technology on strange worlds, whereas nowadays everything is dystopian. As I said, I’ve been hearing this for some time and I figured writing a fun adventure tale with fascinating technology on strange worlds would be a good move. So last night (really this morning) when I was trying to fall asleep, I came up with an interesting premi...

Heavy handed muse
I recently found Oglaf Comics, which are of an adult nature with language, nudity, and sex. Mixed in are some strange, but very amusing comics. Two of these concern a muse. I’ll link to them if you are interested, but I will warn you that they contain language and cartoon nudity: The Blank Page and Muse.

Stephen L. Thompson’s July 2012 Newsletter
Howdy,
Welcome to my electronic newsletter, covering July 2012.

My publication news for the past month:
Publication of my short story “Lucas Witnesses” on my Ficly profile.
* * *
This month I wrote 4,226 words, giving me a yearly total so far of 57,704.
Because I was traveling and didn’t have that much time to be on a computer, there were nine days in July where I did not write. That means I only have five free, no-writing days left this year. That means I’ll basically have to write every day...

Thoughts on free ebook promotion
Over the last two weekends, people were able to download the Kindle versions of my first two anthologies, A Man of Few Words and The All-You-Can-Read Buffet, for free. In two weekends, I gave away far more copies of the electronic version of my books than I have been able to sell of the print version in over two years. I’m sure you can understand how that left me feeling a tad confused. I’m happy that many more people now have copies of my books. However, there is a high probability that thes...

Weight Off My Shoulders
For those of you who didn’t already know, I’m working on my third story anthology. Here is the initial cover idea:
Yes, I’m taking advantage of the brouhaha over the 2012 Election by hoping to release a collection of political stories.
Anyway, at some point I counted up all the stories I had written (most of which had already been published) and the ones I hoped to finish and had about forty. So I figured it would be a collection of forty stories. So far, so good. But as I worked on it, I cam...

These questions and more are explored by Stephen using less than 1000...

That’s good to know
This is from whatdoestheinternetthink.net, and I’m happy to see that in the week when A Man of Few Words makes it to Kindle, the internet is “absolutely positive” about it.
