Photo Fridays – A day to write
This was the view out my window this morning. I don’t think you can see the few snow flakes that were flying around at the time. So it’s looks like a good day to write, hopefully I can get to it.

My publication news for the past month:
Publication of my minianthology of five scifi stories “Brain for Rent and other stories” on Kindle.

This month I wrote 5,081 words, giving me a yearly total so far of 77,569. I had hoped to hit 80,000 this month, but between being under the weather for a few days and being exhausted cutting firewood, I didn’t write as much as I wanted. I did, however, manage to write something ever...

Brain for Rent and other stories
I’ve just published a minianthology of five of my short, scifi stories. Here’s the description:
“Brain for Rent and other stories” is a collection of five, short scifi stories by Stephen L. Thompson giving a sampling of his writing. Included in the collection are: “Brain for Rent” about a ne’re-do-well failed writer with a conceptual implant who discusses his work with a young woman thinking of getting an implant herself. “The Demonstration” is about a different young woman wanting to show off...

Photo Fridays – Bookmarks
Over the years, I’ve gathered a large selection of bookmarks (and this isn’t even my whole collection) but I only use a few at a time. Of course, when does a bookmark become too frayed or too worn to act as a bookmark? They’re almost indestructible.

Photo Friday – writing books
I was trying to think of something I could take a photo of for today, and I just happened to glance over at my books shelf where I have numerous books on writing. I have read a few of them, but I do feel I should read the rest of them. I don’t know when I’ll have the time for it.

Upcoming free Kindle promotions
This week I’ll be having a free promotion for the Kindle versions of my story collections. You’ll be able to download A Man of Few Words for free on Tuesday the 16th, The All-You-Can-Read Buffet on Wednesday the 17th, and Political Pies on Thursday the 18th. Also, I only have three small issues with Brain for Rent and other stories, which is a minianthology of five short, scifi stories. My hope is to have that resolved in the next day or two, and then publish it on Kindle. If that all works o...

Introducing Photo Fridays
Last night at the writing group I go to, we had a guest speaker, Sadie from All Natural Me, who gave a talk on blogging. One of the things she talked about on successful blogging, was posting regularly, which is something I need to work on. She also said that a great way to get people to keep coming back, and possibly spreading the word on your blog, was to have photos, especially if you have cute captions for them. I could do that, I thought. Well, I could probably do that. We’ll see. But I’...

My new book, Political Pies, is out!
I’ve just self-published my third short story collection, Political Pies. It is a collection of forty of my stories with a political theme, but don’t worry, I’m not trying to sway you to one ideology or another. The stories are just to make you chuckle and – maybe – to give you something to think about. Here is the description for it:
Everybody complains about politics, but does anyone do anything about it? Stephen L. Thompson’s attempt to do something about it is to collect forty of his short...

This month I wrote 7,699 words, giving me a yearly total so far of 72,488. If I keep at the rate I’ve been going, I’ll reach my 80,000 word goal in October.
I wrote every day of September, so I still have five free, no-writing days left this year.

400 stories!
If my bookkeeping is correct (I’m betting that it is close enough because I don’t feel like going back to verify all of this) then the publication of Political Pies also marks the 400th story that I have self-published! On to 500, which I could conceivable hit late next year.
