New Trailers UP
I received some advice from various techie people. Both of my trailers are now new and improved (and shorter!)
The sound quality is better too.
Find them right here on goodreads or go to youtube.

Numbers Game
Sure, we could (and do) drive ourselves crazy watching sales numbers, but today there's good news for me.
"Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead" jumped to the low 100,000's after being in peril of falling off the chart in the millions.
Thank you, dear readers, writers, and friends, for getting the word out the others to hit that "buy" button!

Some Ways to Break Writers' Block
1. Take a hike.
2. Color in a coloring book.
3. Consolidate your short stories into an anthology and edit it.
All of these have worked for me at one time or another.
Last week, I did all three. I really enjoyed #3, and that anthology may be ready to publish in about a week.
I called it "Flash Warden and Other Stories."
How do you like that?

SPRING!
With spring in the air, I'm finding it very hard to maintain my writing schedule for "So You, Solimar," the sequel to "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead."
I'm hoping I'll get with it this week and start cranking out the rest of Solimar's first draft.
In the interim, I am promoting "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead" via the Los Angeles Festival of Books (April 30th).
Goodreads.com readers--let me know if you'd like me to send you a Marisol bookmark (Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead).

Kindle Headache #3355
So after some news that the format on e-books was not looking too good, I tried to reformat Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead. I tried Dreamweaver, text-html via Word, and Mobi. Nothing worked!
All I have for my day's labor is the state of the e-book on Kindle as not available!
It should reappear in 24 hours. Besides, you'd really prefer the paperback, wouldn't you?
CreateSpace still has the original ebook and a revised edition (Some Rivers End--short title and corrected Spanish) is now on Lulu.com

Indie Bookstores--Love 'Em
My indie-published book, "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead" has been accepted for sale into its first brick-and-mortars store, the indie star of Los Angeles, Skylight Books on Vermont!
Right on! I'm thrilled.

Happy Days are Here Again
This review came in from my Canadian friend, Dorothy.
Hi Eileen, well I just finished reading your recent book, "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead" and I must say I was pleased to be exposed to the ways of another culture. You most certainly brought to life the events of a most important ...day for the Mexican people. Marisol had become a delightful visitor of my imagination along with Granny Linda, the Jens, Tomaso, Marisol's Mom, those she worked for and so many more. The character Mr. Sneed caught my attention as he was both caring yet tough to the youngsters. A wonderful read. Now, I will have to do a critique on the site where you sell your book. Eileen, it is always good to have the opinions of what others think of your work for others to read, then they can decide...I do look forward to the coming books! Thanks for a great exploration of our vast world. You certainly brought it into my home. Marisol is a wonderful character...I sort of took to her if you know what I mean. Smiles!!

I Blush
Yesterday, I read a homework assignment aloud in class at UCLA, and the class broke into applause as I finished! I think I touched a chord, writing about an older woman obsessing about her looks and then taking a chance on a new hair cut. Why not?
Some of this same joyful optimism can be found in "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead," although Marisol is a teen. She is not a goth, she is not an emo, she is a girl with goals. She loves her family. She loves to read. Life has not been fair to her, but she is going to make the best of it.
I would like to sell 100 more copies of "Some Rivers End" by March. Amazon has lowered the price! I'd appreciate your support. Oh, the goodreads.com giveway is still open. . .ends Jan. 31.

You Know You're a Bibliophile.. .
You know you're a bibliophile, a nice name for a book-a-holic, when you have some suggestions of what to read next and you go ahead and buy 5 of them. This, despite the six books on the shelf that must be read by next week. I bought among others "Butterfly Woman" and "Hint Fiction."
Another sign is that you love to browse the giveaways, because why not see what's available, since you can always use ANOTHER book. (I've won 2, which is fabulous!)
The only reason you subscribe to Entertainment Weekly is to read their book reviews. They used to have Stephen King's column too, but he's taking some time off. Their book reviews are awesome.
Your doctor's office staff says "You're so smart to bring a book" as if you would go ANYWHERE without one!
I love books. I love words. I love authors. I hope you will love my book, "Some Rivers End on the Day of the Dead." It has 11 positive reviews on Amazon!
