I'm trying to get hold of the show's producers to see if I can get it placed onthe set in the background. Fun.

Being Short with You
The short story is a literary art form that some take to and others do not. I admit it's taken me a while. I was never a fan of reading them growing up, and still prefer a novel if pushed to choose, but writing them has been easy for me. Perhaps this is because my writing style is, for the most part, scene oriented. Like vignettes. Shorts are great in that, being in an anthology with other writers, they can introduce a one's work to readers who might never have picked him up otherwise.
I've had my shorts featured in a few anthologies and even had an anthology of my own, Slight Details & Random Events. If I ever had the chance to re-release that book, however, there are a few things I would change. While many of the stories would remain, there are admittedly a few stories in there that should never have seen the light of day. In fact, I am embarrassed by at least one of the pieces included therein (I'll leave you to decipher which one; it's too painful for me to think on it any further - Oy). But if I were ever offered another anthology I do have a list of my very favorite non-erotic shorts I've ever written (I may do an erotic list at a later date):
From my anthology mentioned above there are a few of the so-called "Cat/Gael" stories, which are the centerpiece of the collection. This is the telling of a relationship between two men from college to life beyond, and is quite autobiographical at times. Of these there are five I'm particularly fond of for various reasons. They are "The Things We Want," "Italian For Beginners", "Electronic Love, Australia", "A Massacre of Lions", and "A Hat on the Bed."
"Books By Covers" also from SD&RE - About a man on a jog and the people he passes. Focusing on their reactions to each other by sight alone without knowing the inner turmoils.
"Late Bloomer in the Water" SD&RE - A man learns to swim in parallel to allowing himself to fall in love with another man.
"Deacon Decides" from Mr. Right Now - On a flight to Australia a reserved young man finally takes a chance when flirted with. Based on my own true story.
"Man Falls Down" downloadable via Untreed Reads - A surreal story about a horrific fall. That's really all I can say without giving anything away.
"Camera Phone" SD&RE - A young man at a strip show, while taking pictures with his phone, sees something terrifying with each flash. Something that sees him in return.
"Dismagic Planet" SD&RE - A family is torn apart by an accidental death and a mother's encroaching madness.
"Honeysuckle Sycamore" SD&RE - A bit of a novella about a river valley and the sprites called Passions who live there. I'm waiting for an animated film offer from Japan ;-)
"Tater n Purgatory" SD&RE - A man who has recently lost his lover takes revenge with the help of a demonic dog named Purgatory.
"Cloud Touching Mountain" (unpublished) - I'll admit this is a weird little story. About obsession or love, however you choose to read it.
"Christ Walks in Blessed Springs" (unpublished) - Told in the form of a newspaper article. Lightning strikes a giant statue of Jesus and brings it to life. He goes a-walkin' through the town of Blessed Springs, Kentucky causing carnage and piety. I've found this piece a bit to controversial for most publishers, though they all seem to like it.
"She's Come Undone" (coming soon from Untreed Reads) - A neglected and put-upon school teacher finally puts her foot down.
Now, about those filthy erotic pieces...

E-Recs: 'The New Girl'

So far this new TV season, I haven't been too impressed by any of the shows, new or returning. The New Girl is the one show that made me sit up and pay attention, and that is due in large part to the very cute and charming Zooey Deschanel (those Deschanel sisters! Gotta love 'em!). The indie film queen (seemingly usurping that title from Parker Posey) is a delight to watch even if the idea seems familiar. A delight! I will most definitely be tuning in next week.

Grabbing Myself Inappropriately
I like playing with my tits.
Seriously. They deserve the love. My chest - my pectorals, if you want to get all manly about it, being that some guys get squirmy saying anything remotely feminine about their bodies - has always been there for me. Even when I have been very ill and have taken weeks, even months off my workout routine to recover, my chest, or some shadow of it, has remained. And when I returned to my workouts my chest has always been the first body area to respond. It has perked right up. Good morning! For this reason, it's always been my favorite area to hit in the gym, and maybe, in some deep psychological way, this is the reason why I'm so drawn to illustrations of heavily boobified men.
Not that I'm the only one. Straight guys are just as interested in another guy's huge chest as us gays. I remember once in college, when I was at the peak of my bodybuilding, I was running on a treadmill. The treadmills in the college gym were lined up against a three foot high dividing wall between the weight room and the basketball courts. Sometimes in the spring, when it rained, the baseball team would have their practice inside. One day, as I was running, wearing a so-tight-it's-silly tank top, I caught the eye of one of the players at batting practice. He was directly opposite me ad so I was unavoidable to his sight. Well, he was nearly killed by the first pitch. I had distracted him. I couldn't help but smile as he tried to recompose himself under a wealth of embarrassment. Ah, good times...
This is not to say that I don't appreciate the rest of the male form and don't try just as hard to achieve some sort of symmetry between the rest of my body and my chest. But, as any fitness fiend will tell you, every body's makeup is different and some parts just don't respond to training as well as others. It's rare to find anyone who has perfect symmetry without some cosmetic help. If you do find them, give them a dirty look from me.
My thighs respond well to my workouts, though with my weak ankle I can't hit them as hard as I'd like. Everyone wants a nice ass. For me, "nice ass" means bubbly and round. I was recently watching the Disney film Tangled. Cute movie. I really liked the animation style. While watching I found myself quite enamored at first by the hero, Flynn Rider. Yet when he descended the walls of Rapunzel's tower I noticed, "Somebody done erased that boy's ass!" What is it with Disney? None of the heroes have much booty at all. But the villains? Well, the two twins chasing Flynn were...Yowzer! And lets not any of us forget about Gaston from Beauty & the Beast! ("He's such a doggone strong and handsome brute!") I guess, though, until Patrick Fillion starts making animated films we'll never see truly objectified men in that art form.
That's a shame too, because... wait...what was I saying? I was just distracted when I gave myself a reach-around. Ah, yes. T&A. It's not just for straight men anymore.
