One Good Thing

Three new records arrived in the mail today. (I prefer to call them "records" even though they're CDs. "Records" just sounds nicer.) Dar Williams' "Many Great Companions", a 2 disc greatest hits collection, one of which is acoustic reinterpretations of 12 of her folky tunes; Ray Lamontagne & The Pariah Dogs' "God Willin' & The Creek Don't Rise", for the title alone; and the debut record from Keane's splinter group Mt. Desolation. I'm listening to the Dar record presently. It's familiar. Like listening to one of my Dar playlists. But as a true fan, I had to get it. You understand. Ah, new music! Good stuff.

One Good Thing

Watching GLEE. Haven't seen it in a while. When it was scheduled opposite LOST...well, it lost me. But the ROCKY HORROR thing snagged me. Like many, I'm a ridiculous fan of the film. Personally, I think it has one of the best musical soundtracks ever. I was rather anxious about how the songs would be interpreted on GLEE. But I have to say, not bad. I love Mercedes' version of "Sweet Transvestite." The interpretations have been great...or at least, decent. Let's face it. The original is the best. Anything else is flattery.

One Good Thing

Pink Sparkly Christmas Trees. Maybe 'tisn't the season just yet, but my sister Angie went to Hobby Lobby today with Mom and bought me a tiny nine inch tree. It's a delight. Pink and sparkling, with a star dangling at the top. The truth is, I haven't had a real Christmas tree since 2005. It's just not one of those things I care to do alone. I see no point in setting one up for myself. That's a lot of hassle. This lil' pink fella will do just fine until the time comes for me to get another real one, at which point I will also have a burly lumberjack hubby who can haul the thing in and out...in and out...in and out....
