Rapunzel Untangled was very enjoyable. I immediately loved Fane. He's a very sweet guy and takes Rapunzel under his wing. Helping her to question her strange upbringing and how sick she really is.

Day 19 of Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour

Welcome to day 19 of my Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour. We have 3 blogs for you to stop by where you can read their reviews and so much more. Today I can be found at Blackbird in my Window, Getting Your Read On, and Katies Books. Make sure you stop by for your chance to win a Nook, MP3 Player, a copy of Rapunzel Untangled and many more prizes.

First we have a review from author extraordinaire Rachel McClellan at Blackbird in my Window. Here is a little bit:

"This YA novel was so original and yet, pleasingly familiar like sitting next to a fireplace sipping a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows swirling on top. . . Rapunzel starts questioning everything around her and taking many risks to find out who she really is. And this is where the fairytale takes a dark and twisted turn. I won't say more except for this book is really good."

The next blog we have today is Getting Your Read On. Here is a little of the review:

"I have to admit that I do love a good fairy tale re-telling. Especially one that brings the story into the modern day. I'm such a sucker for happily ever after's. . . This book has a little bit of everything. A sweet romance, discovery and adventure and a bit of the dark side too. I really enjoyed reading it and so did my teenage daughter. Squeeky clean reading for everyone!"

For the full review and to enter the giveaway click here.

The next stop is at Katies Books who wrote a a wonderful review:

"I really adored this book and loved how it was kept to the original fairytale storyline, but with a twist of modern. . . The messages Rapunzel and Fane send each other over Facebook are sweet, enjoyable and funny. . . All in all it was a fantastic read, and I definitely recommend to anyone, especially people who like a re-telling of fairy tales. I gave this book five stars as it was well deserved."

Day 17 of Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour

Welcome to day 17 of Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour. I have a few awesome reviews and an interview going on the blog tour today. So make sure you stop by all the blogs to read the full reviews and to enter the giveaway for the chance to win a Nook, MP3 Player, a copy of Rapunzel Untangled and many more prizes. Who we have today is Books Complete Me, Ali's Bookshelf, Literary Time Out and Taffy's Writings

The first stop we have is a great review of Rapunzel Untangled by Books Complete Me:

"I loved this book. This story was retold in an amazing way. I actually LOVE this version better than the original version. I was never a huge Rapunzel fan until I read Rapunzel Untangled."

For the full review and a chance to win some great prizes click here.

The next stop is Ali's Bookshelf who wrote spotlighted Rapunzel Untangled and is running the giveaway.

For the spotlight of Rapunzel Untangled and to enter the giveaway click here.

Next we have a review of Rapunzel Untangled from Literary Time Out:

"I was drawn in to Rapunzel Untangled right away. Rapunzel and Fane were every bit as likeable as Rapunzel and Flynn from Disney's recent animated film, and the use of Facebook and Skype made for a fun addition to the updated version. Modernizing wicked fairy tale characters makes for ultra evil bad guys. I was creeped out by Gothel (the "mother"/kidnapper), and the parts where her true nature were revealed were not my favorite."

For the full review and to enter the giveaway from Literary Time Out click here.

The last stop for today is Taffy's Writings. Here is a little of the interview we did:

What was the first book that turned you into a reader?Where the Wild Things Are is the first book I remember reading, but I think it was the Beezus and Ramona books by Beverly Cleary that really showed me that books can take you into worlds you'd want to live in, with characters you'd want for friends.
What is one piece of advice you would give aspiring writers?Keep on writing, every single day, even if it's only for ten minutes at a time. While you're doing it, make sure you learn the mechanics of writing (spelling, grammar, punctuation) and utilize them while retaining your unique writers voice.

Day 16 of Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour

It's day 16 of my Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour. I would like to thank everyone that has participated in my blog tour so far. Today we have two wonderful blogs that are on the tour. They are Writing, the Universe and Everything Books and This Great Perhapsless. Make sure you stop by their blogs to read reviews and enter giveaways.

Stop by Writing, the Universe, and Everything Books to read MR Buttars review and to enter the giveaway.

Here's some of what she had to say about it:

"Engaging, funny, adventurous, awesome, great, adorable, wonderful, stupendous, heartwarming, suspenseful are just a few of the adjectives I have to describe this great new fantasy book for young adults. (I would need to consult my thesaurus for more.) I recommend this for all lovers of sweet romance, magic, adventure, and who sigh for those wonderful happily-ever-afters."

To read the rest of the review on Writing, The Universe, and Everything Books click here.

Also check out This Great Perhapsless for the review of Rapunzel Untangled . Here's a little bit:

"Bennett does a great job of taking a story that isn't often done over and over again and while making it her own keeps little nuances of the original story in there. Plus to set it in modern times, which I honestly haven't seen before, was great. Needless to say that this book was amazing!"

Day 15 of Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour

A Girl Trapped in a Mansion*
A Mysterious Old Woman*
The Boy Who Will Change Everything
Welcome to wonderful day 15 of Rapunzel Untangled Blog Tour. Today we have three really great blogs for you to stop by and read reviews, guest posts and to enter giveaways. Today the three blogs are Paulette's Papers, A Book a Day and Winged Reviews. Make sure you stop by their blogs for your chance to win a Nook, MP3 player, a copy of Rapunzel Untangled and many more prizes.

The first great review we have of Rapunzel Untangled is from Paulette's Papers.

I really enjoy fairy tale retelling and this one is one of my favorites... I like that this was mostly clean with just a few moments of darkness in it...

For the full review and spotlight of Rapunzel Untangled from Paulette's Papers click here.

The next stop we have is A Book a Day. Here is a little of the review of Rapunzel Untangled :

This book was so fun...I loved Rapunzel, she was so trusting. I loved Fane and his ability to get Rapunzel to question and learn more about her world. I loved the beginning, the ending.

The last blog we have today is Winged Reviews. Here is a bit of the guest post I wrote:

What I Love About Fairytales
For me the biggest appeal of fairytales lies in the magic. There’s always some kind of magic, be it a fairy godmother, the transformation of a beast into a handsome prince or a mermaid into a human, the poison of an apple or a spindle prick being reversed by true loves kiss, even a frog can be transformed by a kiss.

Rapunzel Untangled in the News

You may have seen my post the other day about Rapunzel Untangled being featured in USA Today. This morning it was featured in one of Salt Lake City's biggest newspapers, Deseret News.

Book review: 'Rapunzel Untangled' features a modern, dark twist on an old tale by By Rosemarie Howard

“Rapunzel Untangled” by Cindy C. Bennett contains a modern twist on an old fairy tale.

Rapunzel has golden hair 15 feet long and has been kept in a tower in an old mansion for 18 years by a woman she has called "Mother." One day she finds Facebook on her computer, which she has been allowed to use to do schoolwork. She is attracted to a photo of a young man who calls himself Fab Fane, and decides to risk “friending” him.

Even though she has been told she has an immune system disease that does not allow her to go outside her rooms, she risks a face-to-face meeting with Fane. A friendship begins and then blossoms into a romance. Fortunately, he does not take advantage of Rapunzel’s innocence, but there are a few fairly passionate kissing moments.

As Rapunzel begins to explore life outside her tower rooms with Fane, she learns the truth about who she really is. And it rocks her world.

The story takes Rapunzel from a rather fragile, obedient young woman who knows next to nothing about the world and personal relationships, into a strong person who can face her demons.
And there are demons — a mentally disturbed “mother,” a warlock who practices dark magic, and a doctor who has been bribed to keep what he knows about Rapunzel a secret.

In an author’s note, Bennett admits that the story is dark, but there is a “happily ever after” ending. It is, after all, a fairy tale — or is it?

Besides the kissing moments and overall dark nature, parents should note that the book also contains a shooting and some descriptions that imply ritual abuse, as well as physical and emotional abuse.

The author was born and raised in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, where she currently lives with her husband and four children. Her book “Geek Girl” was also published by Sweetwater, an imprint of Cedar Fort."

Pretty exciting! You can see the review for yourself here and you can purchase Rapunzel Untangled at:

Here is a little bit of the wonderful review of Rapunzel Untangled that Book Briefs wrote:

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In fact, I loved it! I thought it was cute, clever, romantic, and so interesting, and Cindy Bennett even had a few twists up her sleeve. Rapunzel Untangled is a great book!

For the full review from Book Briefs and to enter the giveaway click here.

For Crys Book Reviews I wrote a guest post about Trending Books. Here is a little bit:

Trends in Books

As in everything else, books tend to go through trends. Vampires and werewolves dominated for a time, dystopian overshadowed all else for a while, zombies have taken up arms (and eaten them), now it seems to be fairytales. Is this a bad thing?

Found out what I said, read the interview and to enter the giveaway by clicking here.

Welcome to lucky day 13 of the Rapunzel Untangled blog tour! Today we have two stops at Kindle Obsessed and Le Book Squirrel. Make sure to stop by their blogs for a chance to enter the drawings to win some great prizes!

I want to thank Peggy at Le Book Squirrel for letting me stop by and spotlighting Rapunzel Untangled.

If you want to enter the giveaway at Le Book Squirrel you can do that here!
Click here to visit KindleObsessed Misty at Kindle Obsessed was kind enough to read and review Rapunzel Untangled. Here's a little of what she had to say: "Have you ever read a book, been completely fascinated by it, but have absolutely no idea why? That was exactly the case for me when I finally sat my stubborn booty down and read Rapunzel Untangled. . . Rapunzel was appropriately naive. Fane was self-assured and loving. Even Gothel was mean and deceptive in all of the right places. . . I wish Bennett would have taken more chances with the story that she was trying to tell. . . In short…not the best. Not the worst. Just average." To read the rest of Misty's review and to enter the giveaway at Kindle Obsessed, click here Rapunzel Untangled  is available now at:   Amazon Barnes & Noble Deseret Book photo Deseretbook_zps877b35a8.jpg
