Owlet blog tour stop #85 at Once Upon a Twilight

Today, the Owlet blog tour lands at Once Upon a Twilight thanks to our host, Yara.
Continuing Read-Along Excerpt:Iris' mother says, "If you remember yourself, you will remember me."
Yara's Review:If you want to read a story that is poetic, then Owlet is for you. Emma does a wonderful job creating this tale. Owlet brings romance to the forefront while presenting us with a new kind of being/idea. Did I mention a certain person called Falcon? Well he might cause your hearts to speed up once or twice. Iris would probably agree with that.

Owlet blog tour stop #84 read-along excerpt

Following is the continuing read-along excerpt for stop #84 on the Owlet blog tour. Enjoy!

“We will see if you forgive him or not after I tell you. Sweetheart, Falcon scared you because he was sent here to do more than just scare you. Wait! Now I know that is scary but you have to understand what happened. There was a man named Caleb who took Falcon when he was very young, almost a newborn. He took him from his parents and he raised him as his own child. But, because he wasn’t his own child he treated him differently. He tried to change him and make him someone he wasn’t.”

“Why?”

“That, my dear, is something that I don’t know or understand. Not yet. Maybe one day, but honestly I hope I never understand Caleb, or any man who can send a child to, well, right now we are talking about Falcon and that is something I can understand. He has a family, an extremely large family called the Stryx, and the closest members of his family are called the Eyrie. He was told by Caleb that if he did not hurt you he would not get to be a part of that family anymore.”

“But he didn’t hurt me. He just scared me.”

“Exactly. So by not hurting you he, in fact, protected you from harm and lost his family because of it.”

“Is that why you asked him to stay?”

“I asked him to stay because he needed a home. My father, your grandfather— they always taught me to open the door and let someone in if they were truly in need, and you aren’t at risk anymore. Falcon couldn’t help what he did, he is so young and all he knew was...I could never make him go back to that. Not after your grandfather saved me from that life by being such an amazing dad.”

“Is he going to stay?”

“That is up to him and you. He refused to hurt you but I don’t trust him yet.”

“Should I trust him?”

“I don’t know. I do know that you should see if you can forgive him. He did a brave thing and gave up his family for you, a very large family, and one day I will explain more about them. But, for now let’s start with getting to know Falcon. All of us. Your father is the one who asked me to, and now I am asking you to try as well.”

“Okay. I will try to forgive him but I won’t trust him yet.”

Owlet blog tour stop #83 read-along excerpt

Following is the continuing read-along excerpt for stop #83 on the Owlet blog tour. Enjoy!

Iris watched as her younger self crawled out from underneath the gazebo and walked up its stairs, coming to stand beside her mother and look out at the trees with her. Iris’ white blonde hair was a stark contrast to her mother’s. “You have to understand his side of what happened, dear. Can’t you forgive him?”

“No,” the younger Iris answered stubbornly. And as her older counterpart watched, she noticed that the Iris she was watching was even shorter than the first, so much younger. “Well, maybe. I don’t know. I just don’t understand.”

“Then learn to understand, my dear. Learn his side and see if you can put yourself in his position.”

“What is his side?”

“You have to ask him that.”

“I am scared. Can’t you help me understand first?”

“I can help you but then you have to ask him. Okay? Let him know you are willing to forgive him because if you don’t tell him then he will never know. It is like my love for you. I always tell you that I love you because I want you to know, and if I never told you then how would you?”

“I guess I wouldn’t. I will tell him I MIGHT forgive him.”

Owlet blog tour stop #82 read-along excerpt

Following is the continuing read-along excerpt for stop #82 on the Owlet blog tour. Enjoy!

***

Iris was about to walk forward to look beyond the trees past the gazebo when she saw something out of the corner of her eye, dark brown hair flying in the wind. Then, in an instant the head of hair was gone; and when she turned back, so were the children. She walked to where she had been lying as a little girl and lay in exactly the same spot. She stared at the gazebo ceiling thinking. It must have been us. Falcon and I. And that voice, the woman, must have been my mother.

She turned her head to the side and could see Falcon’s face again, the moment before Diana had interrupted. “Was he really sent to kill me?” Iris asked herself and turned back to look at the ceiling, no longer willing to keep staring into the eyes of an apparent assassin.
I just don’t understand.

“Izzy? Now you can’t stay mad at him forever you know.”

That is that same voice! Iris thought, as the scent of strawberries and apples filled the gazebo. She looked around and could see her mother leaning over the railing, faced away from her so that all she could see was long, dark brown hair and the lower half of a long lavender dress. “Mom,” Iris whispered.

“Come on Izzy, come over here and stop hiding. Your dad doesn’t know about this hiding spot yet and you don’t want me to tell him, do you? If you played hide and seek again he might actually stand a chance of winning.”

“I like winning though.”

“I know you do, my sweetheart. Why don’t you come up here and talk with me for a moment.”

Owlet blog tour stop #81 at Kindred Dreamheart

This week the Owlet blog tour kicks off at Kindred Dreamheart thanks to our host, Katrina.
Continuing Read-Along Excerpt:Iris realizes she is looking at a younger version of herself.
Katrina's Review:I found this story wondrous, poetic, and romantic. I often analyze possible influences when reading fantasy and mythology.I could not pinpoint much because this was highly original. "We are just normal people only our souls are a little bit different." (that's eerie and yet fascinating.)

Owlet blog tour stop #79 at Bookworm Lisa

The Owlet blog tour stops at Bookworm Lisa courtesy of our host, Lisa.
Continuing Read-Along Excerpt:Falcon and Diana are worried about Iris' soul.
Lisa's Review:This book resonated on a level with me, mainly because my daughter has asthma. I loved having a main character that she could relate to. Iris condition is many times more severe than my daughter's. Iris doesn't give up but adapts. I love seeing this strength.
