All Our Yesterdays Blog Tour (Book Review)!

"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.
Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.
Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.
All Our Yesterdays is a wrenching, brilliantly plotted story of fierce love, unthinkable sacrifice, and the infinite implications of our every choice.

All Our Yesterdays was a spectacular thrill ride. By far my new favorite time travel novel. Not only was the writing exquisite and plot pace perfectly timed but the emotions were so well written that you end up swept away. When I headed to BEA in New York earlier this year I decided to stop by the Teen Author Carnival and while ‘All Our Yesterdays’ was not out yet Cristin Terrill was there and something she said about her novel struck me. I hadn’t picked it up at BEA and as soon as she started talking about the concept behind it I knew I wanted to get my hands on it. I never would have expected it to be THIS amazing though. It is kind of breaking my star rating scale. Seriously, if this had been my first review everyone else would REALLY hate the learning curve.
There is something about the idea of time travel that has always fascinated me. There are so many point in my life where it isn’t that I have regrets but that I wish others had known what I know now so things could have happened differently. Part of what I love about this novel is the way time is described and that the consequences in it are both more flexible than most and more life changing. As a child I remember reading the short story ‘The Sound of Thunder’ and how much impact it had on me. I had always been telling myself, “Well, what if I had done this different or this… I wish I could go back and change it so that ___ wouldn’t have happened.” And it was the first time I realized that changing it meant changing every single thing that had come after it.
This novel not only takes a hold of the emotions expertly but you are pulled into a truly multi-dimensional novel with such intense character depth that you won’t just hesitate to put it down, you will feel like your life depends on the outcome. I was interrupted at one point while reading and literally scared the person away I was so snappy. I apologized (of course) but normally I am the mildest mannered person you will meet and I was so wrapped up in the story that when it was interrupted I couldn’t help but react as though someone simply didn’t understand the gravity of the situation, that I was in a life or death battle and there was no way that everyone involved could win.
Anyways, I guess I should go ahead and stop gushing but needless to say GO BUY THIS BOOK or GO TO YOUR LIBRARY or whatever it is you do to fuel your book addiction because this book is totally 0 worth it.
As for me, I will be sitting here looking at the postcard of the new cover I added to my wall of things I abso-freaking-lutely adore.
Side note: While it ended like a standalone apparently there is a second novel. :O *shifty eyes* Cause I won’t totally be stocking that Goodreads page until it updates with more information or anything…  Here is a bit more information on the author!  [image error] Website | Twitter | Facebook | GoodReads | Amazon Cristin Terrill is a young adult author and aspiring grown-up. She grew up semi-nomadic and graduated from Vassar College with a degree in drama. After getting her masters in Shakespeare Studies from the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, she lived in London, Austin, Boston, and Washington, DC while working as a theatrical stage manager. Now she writes and leads creative writing workshops for DC-area kids and teens. All Our Yesterdays is her first novel.

Excerpt -
Ty stood in the middle of the candles holding a bouquet of flowers. I could see his broad smile as the light flickered off of his chiseled jawline.

“How did you know I would come here tonight?” I asked as I slowly walked up the steps toward the man I was sure was the love of my life.

“Lucky guess,” Ty laughed as he watched me walk toward him. “Or maybe I've been waiting here every night for the last week.”

Death of a Black Rose Blog Tour (Interview)!

I am happy to welcome a very lovely guest today who not only happens to be an awesome author but is also one of the very few people out there I actually trust for tea flavor recommendations. *toasts with tea mugs*

Give a warm welcome to
Tish Thawer!

So Tish, Where do you get your inspiration from?
I find inspiration in everything. I can look at a one word and the title of my next book will pop into my head, or I could get a certain feeling on a rainy day that inspires my next story. Or, in the case of The Rose Trilogy, it can all start with a dream.
Who is your biggest influence?I would have to say Gena Showalter. What about her motivates you the most?I love the fact that her books span the Young Adult and Adult categories, all while maintaining the specific genre of Paranormal Romance. It's exactly what I've tried to do. I want to write sweet, innocent stories like Shay and the Box of Nye, for the YA crowd, but also enjoy diving into the adult hotness that is Aradia Awakens. Within my books, there's something for everyone, but you can be sure all of it is MAGICAL and within the PNR genre!
What's your star sign?Gemini - I'm a good communicator! :p
What is your favorite book?*Eeek* I don't think I can answer this one, as my response changes weekly.
If someone were to use you as a character in their book, how do they think they would portray you?Hahahaha... Oh man, probably a snobby know-it-all.
Would this be accurate or not?NO!!! OMG...I'm shy, which can led people to think I'm stuck-up, which is SO not true. Plus I suffer from B.R.F., which totally doesn't help. :p (See video below.) I'm probably one of the most down to earth people you'll ever meet. A total geek. And while my life experiences and extensive research habit has led me to learn a lot about a lot of different subjects, I'm never one to think I know better than someone else, or that I can't always learn something new. I'll be the first person to admit when I'm wrong!

What is your favorite pick-up line?Um...I don't think I'm a fan of any pick-up line, but the one that makes me laugh the most is..."Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?"
How did you come up with the concept of drifting vampires?LOL, while I'd love to give some in-depth answer about emotions and their manifestations, it truly boiled down to whether I made Christian a blonde or a brunette; I decided to do both through drifting! :p
What advice do you have for up and coming authors?Go for it but be smart. Don't rush and make sure you do LOTS of research on the right way to do things. Professional editing and cover design are key, but you also have to be aware of how the industry and it's many quirks work before jumping in.
Thank you for stopping by! You can find out more about Tish by checking out these awesome links!Website: www.TishThawer.comBlog: tishthawer.blogspot.comTwitter: @TishThawerFacebook: www.facebook.com/AuthorTishThawerGoodreads: www.goodreads.com/tishthawerAmazon: www.amazon.com/tishthawer

The enticing first book in the spin off novella series to The Legend of the Archangel. Set after events in The Chronicles of Fire and Ice.

Excerpt
I ran so fast I felt one with the wind. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Sooner or later my mother would track me down but until then I’ll enjoy myself. As I entered the arcade I heard my name.
“Yo, Eden.”
“Eden! You escaped.”
I smiled as I saw my friends approach. “Yeah I escaped the clutches of the evil demon.”
“You shouldn’t joke about that stuff, it could be real,” said Zoe innocently. Zoe was my best friend and still an innocent. Her boyfriend Mike thought he understood all. Even though they were Nephilim too, I couldn’t let them learn who my father was.
“It is real, Zo. If there are angels, there are demons. You can’t have one without the other.”
“Who says?” I defended as I retrieve the air hockey puck out of the slot and place it on the table. It begins sliding around in a small circle, waiting for me to hit it.
“Says I.” Mike took the position opposite me and waited. I narrowed my eyes and glared at him. Zoe always says I do this thing with my eyes that could make every boy swoon, but I don’t believe it. How could one person’s eyes make someone swoon? As I wacked the air hockey puck, Mike seemed distracted by something, so the puck sailed straight down into my goal at his end. The electronic voice announced the score to be one nil and that seemed to break his reverie.
“Mike, what happened? You were totally out of it.” Zoe placed a hand on his bicep.
“No, I wasn’t.”
“Yes, you were. You totally let Eden win.”
“It was just a lucky shot,” I said in defence. I couldn’t let them think that somehow I had something to do with Mike’s off-with-the-faeries moment. Did I? It couldn’t be possible. I didn’t just cause Mike to space out and act as if he and I were the only ones left on earth? Did I?
“That never happens, baby.”
“Okay, maybe this turn will be better.” Mike retrieved the puck out of the slot on his side and placed it on the table, ready to hit. I stood ready, but this time I was the distracted one. I couldn’t get the feeling out of my head that I had revealed one of my powers to him. My mother said to never do that. But was it even one of my traits? The air hockey puck sailed straight under me and landed in his goal. One- all.
“Oh yeah!” Mike hooted, but I didn’t feel like partying anymore. I walked away from the table.
“Oh, what’s the matter, Eden, afraid of being beat?”
“No, I just don’t feel like playing anymore.”
“Oh, come on! We were right in the middle of a game!”
I walked away ignoring their pleas as the allure of the hoop game called me over. I had just pushed a token in the slot and picked up a ball, when I heard my name. But it wasn’t from Mike or Zoe.
“So this is where you spend your runaway hours?” I glanced over my shoulder and saw the creep standing behind me.
“Who are you and what do you want?”
“Don’t you see the family resemblance?” he smirked.
I turned to take a good look at him, intrigued. The guy had to be about my mother’s age, maybe a little older and had the same grey- blue eyes my mother has.
“Uncle Adam?”
“In the flesh. Now lets get out of here.”
I chuckled as I turned back around and threw a ball at the highest scoring hoop. It went in. “I am not going anywhere with you.”
Adam clapped. “Good shot. But its not surprising, seeing whose blood you carry in your veins.”
“Do you mean yours and Mum’s, or…”
“Lakyn’s?” He finished for her. “Either way, you have so many abilities you are not even aware of, Eden. And some of them are quite dangerous.”
“How do you know this?”
“I was there from the moment you were born. Trust me, I know.”
I tossed another ball in, this time in a lower scoring hoop and it went in as well. “I’m still not going with you.” As I picked up a third ball and pushed it towards the hoops, it froze mid- air. I gasped and looked back at my uncle. He shrugged.
“Game over.”
As he walked away, the ball remained frozen.
“Wait, how did you do that?” I asked, glancing back and forth from the ball to him.
“If you come with me, I’ll tell you.”
“My mother sent you, didn’t she?”
“She might have.”
“So what you just did, can I do that?”
“Everyone’s traits are different, but probably. If you come with me, you can find out more.”
“I can’t just leave my friends.”
“Yes, you can. You can always make new friends.”
I stopped walking and looked at my friends playing the Daytona. Mike was showing Zoe how to drive, which was really cute. And then I looked at my uncle, waiting patiently outside the mouth of the arcade by a black town car. If I stayed, I would never know what my traits would be, I would never learn how to use them. But I would be a normal teenager, going to school and hanging out at the arcade with her friends. If I went with my uncle, I would no longer be normal. I wanted both lives. But the idea of having amazing powers intrigued me most. In the end I chose door two. Looking back I regretted leaving my friends. But I knew they would never understand. I knew deep down that I was made for a higher purpose.

Cover Love Affair 27

It is Friday, we all know what that means, right?

Yep, it’s that day of the week where I go from cover artist to fan girl and this week I am loving ocean themed covers. For some reason they are calling out to me so I figured I may as well share the majesty these wonderful covers represent. My personal favorite out of this bunch is Seven Tears into the Sea. For some reason that cover always makes me pause and think.

This does not mean there will not be some sad parts, because you have to feel the bitter in order to understand the sweet. In fact, I have struggled with Dyslexia my whole life, so you can imagine how overjoyed I was when DiSemblance won a Silver metal in the fantasy/science fiction category at the eLit awards in 2012. Website * Twitter * Facebook  disemblance tour Tour Schedule
