Once upon a light drive

Gather Kittens,
Marshall Dudley, here. The following is for your pleasure only, and, well, that of Ms. Messenger. But, for obvious reasons, she isn’t yet informed of the salacious circumstances that wait for her in the foreseeable future. Some things are better discovered in the natural order of events. However, for the sake of today’s dalliance, I’ll invite you to sneak a peek beneath the sheets.Shh… come this way.I trot downstairs to find Ms. Messenger has kindly let herself in, and is already moping about the kitchen, holding the refrigerator door open as if staring at the food might play a part in digestion. “An Oliver got you down?” It’s a formality to ask at this point. I snap up the leather whip from the corner and check my hair in the reflection of the window. Then I see her—the woman of my dreams—traveling from the future just to please me—headed off to the barn for our afternoon romp. A smile begs to form on my lips but I won’t give it lest Skyla think I’m relishing her hormonal hysteria.“You know the drill." She comes over—her perfume is sweet as honeysuckle. "It's practically a daily requirement for me to moan over those boys."  I touch her cheek with the tip of the leather and move my efforts south until I hit the lip of her jeans. I frown at the devilish denim—tight as hell. It’s the modern day chastity belt  the way its torture to take off, and, yet, the plebeians of this generation will be the last to realize it.    “Where are you off to?” Her expression dims. Her eyes fall to my opened shirt, and her lips part. “Rumor has it, there’s a restless animal in the barn.” I take a step into her until my lips are inches away from hers. “A very naughty, naughty, animal who needs to be disciplined—on her knees, among other subservient positions.”She swallows hard. Her heart echoes over mine.I take a step back and examine her in this pre-coital flux, delighting in the fact that in just a few mere minutes I’ll be able to alleviate her tension in the most sinfully expectant manner.“Is something wrong?” I peer at her with my lids lowered, my fingers brushing against her thigh.“No.” She comes to as if waking from a trace. “What’s that thing in your hand, anyway?” Her nose crinkles and makes her look every bit adorable.I crack the whip over the counter, and it cuts the air with a crisp, satisfying snap.“This, my love”—I hold it up for her inspection—“is for both your pleasure and your pain.” I glide it softly over the side of her cheek, causing her lids to flutter—her breathing to grow erratic. I slip past her, out the back, and make my way to the barn. A soft glow emits from inside, and I find my bride on her knees wearing the period piece I’ve requested—a ladies dress with full corset and bustle. That devilish smile I’ve grown to appreciate greets me, and my body rouses to life at the sight of her.“Candles? In a barn, Skyla? Really?” I growl as I make my way over. “You’re going to burn us to the ground before we have the chance to launch one another into the stratosphere.”“You’re right.” She bends over severely, and her cleavage blooms as it spills from her corset. “We’ll burn this place down all right, but the fire will come from you and me.” She lifts her dress just past her thighs and arches her head back to better see me. I glide the riding crop toward her and lift her skirt ever so higher.“Where to begin?” It comes from me sharp like a command.“Let’s begin”—her hands move to the front of my jeans in one smooth stroke—“right here.”

Two hours later…  (Celestra Forever After)*Skyla’s POV
“Where were you just now?” I lean in with suspicion. “You look like holy hell.” I take him in with his rumpled hair, his shirt unbuttoned down the front, his rock hard abs slicked with sweat. “If I didn’t know better…” I let the words hang in the air so thick you could hook a coat on them. A sly grin plays on his lips as he stares out the window.“You do know better, don’t you, Ms. Messenger.”“Who is she?” It comes from me barely audible.He cuts a quick glance in my direction and reverts his gaze back out toward the barn, guilty as hell.“Oh God, no.”“I believe the words you used just moments before were, ‘Oh God, yes, yes, yes.’”“Shit.”“Language.” He gives a sly smile as he walks on by.

The Tuesday Tease~!

Welcome back to the Tuesday tease! Hope everyone enjoyed the Fourth! I’ve had a busy, busy, writing week. Lots of edits were done on The Solitude of Passion with lots of edits to come. (Blah) This is my third year working on this book. It’s been a very loooong gestation. The word count is ginormous so that explains the harrowing edit. I hope to birth it to the e-book shelves very, very soon. It’ll be available in a hard copy as well. I feel so fancy.  Also, I’ve got three other books on the burner this month. I’m trying to be as productive as possible but that darn summer sun keeps calling my name—plus, I keep threatening to clean the house. Thankfully that horror hasn’t come to fruition yet. Anyway, I digress.
Marshall is busy “crafting” his point of view post, and I have to keep censoring him. If he doesn’t turn down the heat I’m going to have to put one of those “adult warnings” on my blog. Sneaky Sexter. Logan’s POV is shaping up to be pretty steamy as well but his thoughts are a little more tame in comparison (a little). Unfortunately, Marshall has involved a riding crop in his vignette. *breathes* I know.The Point of Views will be their own posts and hopefully the first one will be out on Friday. I’m actually having another book signing this Friday in Pomona with a fab group of ladies so I’ll be traveling, but I’ll see if I can’t convince Mr. Dudley to tone it down by then. It will make for a hot weekend, that’s for sure. ;)

I run the pad of my finger over his ear, tug at his lobe before tracing the outline of his brows, the bridge of his nose, his soft, full lips. “You’re a masterpiece,” I whisper. God can be very proud of this one. A Davidian beauty. David was flawlessly beautiful, perfectly handsome, and it’s so true of Max in every possible way.“No, Lee, I believe that would be you,” he teases, pulling a kiss off my lips like he was stealing the moment.

*Laken’s POV (Laken with someone…)
I cover his lips with mine and dissolve under the duress of his achingly sweet affection. Every part of me wants to break—to exhale—to give in to the release of this incredible tension. I should put it off—tell him we'd better wait, that this isn’t the time or the place, that hearts are still on the line—but I don’t.
3 a.m. Kisses (New Adult) (Baya’s Point of View, talking to Bryson about… well, you can probably guess.)
“I don’t know anything about that kind of stuff.” I glance down at my shorts a moment. “I want to know everything. I want you to teach me.”“I will.” He swims up beside me and rumbles in my ear with a kiss. His heart beats over my shoulder like a hammer straight to the bone. “I plan on leaving no stone unturned, Baya. Believe me, I’ll be thorough with the lesson.” Bryson growls into his words as if there were a psychotically sexy threat imbedded in there somewhere, and my insides cinch.

“I know all of your kisses, all of your smiles, your frowns, I can decipher every sigh that blows from your lips—you must know that I love you.”I give a quick nod, my eyes still stuck on his shoes. He tucks his finger under my chin and lifts me gently until we’re eye to eye.“Skyla”—he breathes my name like a dream—“don’t cry for tomorrow when you have today.”

The Tuesday Tease!

Happy Tuesday! This past weekend I was so happy to be a part of the utopYA convention organized by the AMAZING Janet Wallace from Social Deviants. Not only was the event a huge success but Janet is a powerhouse and a rock star!!! The readers, the bloggers, the writers, everyone in attendance made this weekend memorable. It truly was incredible.Speaking of the utopYA convention, I’m super happy (and extremely humbled) to announce that Logan Oliver won an award for Best Hero! And—he won because of your awesome votes. :) BIG thank you to all of you for allowing me to experience one of the happiest moments in my life, ever. It was so unexpected and I so appreciated just to be nominated, the win was the icing on the cake. Thank you to those that voted! As a show of my appreciation I’m going to not only let Marshall take over my blog (as a thank you for the facebook likes) I’m handing the reins to Logan as well. It. Will. Be. Steamy. Expect those POV's randomly within a week or two. Can’t wait! They’re already taking over my brain. Things are about to get hotter this summer. I reach over and touch my finger to her cheek. “Sometimes you have to go after what you want, Laken.” “And sometimes”—she bats my hand away—“you’d better damn well think about the consequences when you do.”

“So”—I twirl my finger around my hair trying to think up small talk to fill in the void—“you see Logan, yet?” I already know the answer. I already know that all I’m doing is buying time because an entire sea of awkwardness has just taken over. I wish we never had that conversation. I wish we were normal, the way we used to be, but now things have slipped into something entirely different and we’re still testing out the boundaries.Gage rounds his hand over the steering wheel. His dimples depress without the benefit of a smile.“Saw him this morning. He came by with Liam.”“Holy shit!” I suck in a breath not meaning to sound so damn dramatic. “And you didn’t call me?” I’m suddenly walking the line between heavily pissed and downright angry. “What are you on?”“I’m on Skyla Messenger.” His eyes meander from the road to me as he gives a slow spreading smile. “And you’re one addiction I don’t plan on breaking for anyone.”

Laken and I just stare at one another locked at an impasse. Here it is, the moment of truth.“God, I love you.” I step in and land my lips over hers. The entire universe just rearranged itself. This wasn’t anything like one of those kisses we shared last week, nothing about this was coated in a lie.My shoulder gets pulled back from behind, and I spin as a fist lands over my jaw.“You’re going to die, Coop.”

“What’s all this?” I stare at all the crap Brielle spilled onto my bed and carefully pick up a red, white, and blue bikini top with stars set in precarious places. “This”—she picks up an industrial sized tub of margarine and cradles it like an infant—“is what you’re going to need to seduce him.”“I’m not sure the U.S. flag was ever intended to be a nipple shield. And the butter? What is this, my ‘cupcakes in bikinis’ moment?” “Oh, hon, the only thing that will be baking is him once he slathers this all over you. Just show up and volunteer to wash his car.” She makes a circular motion with her chest and suddenly I’m fearing for my lady parts. “Guys love that. And, since it’s summer, you’ll want to catch a tan.” She thrusts the margarine at me. “Just make sure he rubs you down in all the right places.”Good grief. Brielle can turn an innocent carwash into a pornographic experience.

He roots his feet into the carpet. A minute of silence tracks by with nothing but cross-armed aggression spewing from him.
“This isn’t like you, Mitch.” You can see the fire in his eyes. You could light an entire solar system with the inferno brewing inside him. “I thought you were nice.” He spits it out like it was the world’s vilest expletive.“Nice wears off after five years.” I butt my shoulder into his as I pass him.He doesn’t bother with a response, just stalks through the living room and up the stairs to the bedroom he shares with my wife.

Celestra really was an intense journey for me. It was fun, and emotional, and I loved visiting that island every single day for the past two years. Sharing it with you made it a dream come true so thank you again. 

Celestra in and of itself is complete, but I would love to invite anyone who is interested in more of Skyla's life to join me on the island in her new series, Celestra Forever After. Be warned, it will be steamy.

So what am I working on now? 

* I'm turning a book into Amazon (my publisher) next week. SOMEONE LIKE YOU is book two in the SOMEONE TO LOVE Series. It follows the story of Ally and Morgan (Kendall's BFF and big bro). Morgan Jordan is naughty and hawt, hawt, HAWT. That is all. Cannot wait to share this with you in early 2014. 

*The Countenance Trilogy! I'll be penning the final book, ENTROPY in July with a fall release. Yay! Laken *sigh* Lucky, lucky Laken has a very good and tragic time in book 3. So much crazy fun still to be had at the Ephemeral Academy. 

*THE SOLITUDE OF PASSION - Mmm, Mitch and Max, Max and Mitch, mix and match... OK, sorry I got momentarily distracted by all the yumminess running rampant. Have I mentioned there are vineyards involved? I love this book. It's the very next book I'm putting out and I'm hoping for a late June early July release. This is a story I wrote years ago but it's always stuck with me. I hope you'll fall in love with the characters and their unusual predicament like I did. I've mentioned this before but those two men were forerunners to Logan and Gage. Odd, I know.

*Secret Project!!! New Adult~! I'm pushing for a cover/title reveal SOON! LOVE this title, LOVE this cover. Will share soon. 

*CELESTRA FOREVER AFTER - OK, I admit it- I've already started penning this one, like months ago. I couldn't help myself it was too tempting not to. I'll release book 1 soon after I release ENTROPY (Counts 3). This series is arced out a little different from Celestra but it will be a fun way for those who enjoyed the young adult series to dip their foot into Paragon waters once again. And finally we will enjoy a release to all that hormonal angst Skyla went through. *fans self* This series will be written in multiple point of views! Let's hear it for the boyz!!!!!! And Skyla.

I speed down to the kitchen ready to tell Mom everything. I’m sick of all the secrets. I’m sick of all the lies. I’m finally going to—“What the hell?” I stop short and take a breath.Tad sits at the table with a napkin twisted up each nostril while everyone around him proceeds to nosh on their bacon and eggs as if his ability to sprout spontaneous tusks were an everyday occurrence.“He’s got a severe nasal drip.” Mom glances up before returning to the task of folding miniature sanitary napkins for her husband’s currently defunct sniffer. Drake points his fork in Tad’s direction. “You probably have your brain leaking out of your nose. You hear about that all the time now. I bet that’s what’s happening.”I shake my head. “Makes total sense.”

The Tuesday Tease + ELYSIAN news

It's here again! The Tuesday Tease!


The final book in the young adult Celestra Series is finished! The cover, however, is not. I thought for sure I'd have it up but hopefully it'll be finalized later today.


I'll be formatting the book and all that fun stuff today so I'll most likely hit publish on Thursday for a Friday release (or sooner). I'll shout it out all over facebook and twitter once I hit publish to give you a heads up. I'm pretty sure Amazon will have it up relatively quick, I'm hoping B&N will as well but I can't make any promises. If my formatter is quick, I'll have the Smashwords copy available for immediate purchase, and then the rest of the platforms as soon as my distributor can get them up.

Can you believe it? We made it! All the way to "the end." I really want to thank each one of you for making this crazy ride so very special by constantly showering me with your support. ELYSIAN marks the close to a chapter in Skyla's life but it also marks the close to a chapter in my life as well. I really lived each of those adventures right alongside her, and I hope you feel as though you did, too. I'm all ready to begin a new chapter and share in Skyla's new adventures and I hope you'll join us as well. Paragon wouldn't be the same without you.

ELYSIAN is looong. It has a part one and a part two all in ONE e-book! So sit back and enjoy the ride. It's bumpy so you might want to buckle up. ;)

As for "the end," I realize it's exciting to see who she ends up with. If you do skip to the last page, I promise you won't understand the true ending. I designed it that way because well, lets face it, it was too fun not to. :) All of the answers are in the text. Except the ones that are not, like stuff that belongs in the Countenance or in Skyla's new series. But I did try to offer closure and answers to everything that had to do with Celestra and I hope you'll be more than pleased with all of the secrets that ELYSIAN reveals. This book was tough to write but it was such a pleasure. And I hope you'll enjoy it, too.

I’ll be contacting my formatter today and making arrangements for next week. I have one more beta and the final portion of edits yet to get back to me but I expect both by Wednesday. There is only one more read-through I need to do. (Yes, just one!!!) Since the book is very long this is more time consuming than it sounds, but I love me some Paragon so it’s a total labor of love. There are a few mysteries I open up at the end of ELYSIAN that will segue into Skyla’s new series. The storylines that are left open are for the NA series or have to do with the Countenance. I sifted through all of your questions (thank you for letting me know your thoughts!) and made sure to tackle those in the book. The revelations—the reveals of how and why are given in parts throughout the book. As the book draws to a close the answers become clearer. The answers do not appear on the last page nor are they in the final chapter. It’s more of a progressive reveal. There is one storyline that gets answered in the final book of the Countenance, and that is the ever-elusive question: Why do Wesley and Gage look exactly alike? Since that’s not pertinent to Celestra I don’t give the answer in this book but it will be revealed in Skyla’s new series as well. This is a book I wrote forever ago. It’s a contemporary romance and the story has gripped me and neverlet me go. I’ve got a ton of novels collecting dust, but this one, it ate my heart for breakfast and I wanted it to. I wanted to marry both Mitch and Max. This book lives in me and plays itself over and over in my heart like a love song I never tire of hearing. I hope you’ll enjoy it to. I’m hoping for a June release.Enjoy the teasers!

I thought Chloe was getting it on with Ethan. But, then again, that was probably a two-minute endeavor. “We can’t tell these people to leave.” Melissa shoots daggers at me as if she’s ready and willing to take me on.“Oh yes you can. *Skyla in Marshall’s class. (Repeat?)I glare at him from over the top of my lab manual. I’m still not used to him as my chemistry teacher, not that I ever fully accepted him as my “math” teacher. He’s more of an inter-dimensional stalker who has conveniently landed a job as a person of authority just to be near me. Actually, now that I think of it that way, it sort of endears me to him.  
*(Skyla with Logan and Gage)Logan wraps his arms around me from behind, bowing a kiss into the nape of my neck, and I blush from head to toe while locking eyes with Gage. Sadly, I found the moment far more erotic than disturbing, and this unnerves me in more ways than one. 
*Skyla talking to Brielle (My favorite tease!) “I don’t know,” I sigh. “It’s just hard to believe senior year is over. Life just seems like its on fast-forward. One day we’re going to wake up and we’ll be old. The sad part is we probably won’t even notice. I mean, how the hell are we supposed to know we’re old?” “We’ll know we’re old when we start adding the words better than sex to our favorite desserts.”
