Essays on The Bewitching
The Bewitching, my novel of supernatural suspense, has been out for two weeks and I wrote two short pieces related to the novel.
The first one over at Crime Reads talks about suspense movies that I recommend for writers.
The second is at Patreon where I discuss technology in the late 1990s.
If you haven't read The Bewitching, check it out. If you loved it, tell others.

The Bewitching: out this July
One more month until the release of The Bewitching. It's worth mentioning that for collectors and people who like sprayed edges, in the UK Goldsboro and Waterstones will both have special signed editions with the sprayed edge feature. I can't say I get the love for the edges that seems so prevalent in the UK, but heads up to my British fans.
The Bewitching has now *four* starred reviews from the trade journals (Library Journal, PW, Kirkus and Booklist). That's essentially a literary home run.
As usual, pre-orders help writers immensely and if you can't pre-order do ask your local library to stock the title.
The Bewitching is a horror novel in three timelines, from Mexico in 1908 to New England in 1998. Discover its secrets this July.
Cheers,
Silvia Moreno-Garcia

The Bewitching at Comicon
My publisher asked me to attend Emerald City Comicon to promote the Bewitching, so I'll be there with boxes of advance review copies to give away. For booksellers or reviewers who need physical copies, I've been told they are shipping them this week, so best get in touch as they are stuffing envelopes about now.
Talking about review copies, the novel is available now for reviewers and booksellers to request via Netgalley and Edelweiss. Release date: July 15, 2025.
Finally, if you've read an ARC already and you liked this, please please please tell people about it. I say this every time but word of mouth is what keeps me working. I super appreciate it. Thanks.
Remember to add to your Goodreads shelf.

F is for Fake
I was going to try to show a newspaper for proof of life, but who gets newspapers these days? So, here's a short post instead. Anyway, it's December 30, 2024 and there has been a scammer going around Facebook pretending to be me and trying to join writer groups. So this is a reminder:
1. All my official social media channels are listed via my website. I also have a newsletter. That is how you can find me.
2. I do not DM people, read or respond to DMs.
3. I do not conduct business via social media or without my agent.
4. I do not offer personal advice via social media. I may sometimes discuss publishing business stuff but that is generic and I do not respond to queries about specific issues.
Summary: I never DM fans and don't conduct any business via social media. Please be alert. All business is done via my agents. Don't accept any DMs from new, strange, and suspicious accounts! Stay safe!

Review copies: The Bewitching
This is just a quick heads up that advance review copies of THE BEWITCHING are available now for reviewers and booksellers to request via Netgalley and Edelweiss . Release date: July 15, 2025.
Remember to add to your Goodreads shelf.
Description: Three women in three different eras encounter danger and witchcraft in this eerie multi-generational gothic horror saga from the New York Times bestselling author of Mexican Gothic.
“Back then, when I was a young woman, there were still witches”: That was how Nana Alba always began the stories she told her great-granddaughter Minerva—stories that have stayed with Minerva all her life. Perhaps that’s why Minerva became a grad student focused on the history of horror literature; she’s now researching the life of Beatrice Tremblay, an obscure author of macabre tales.
In the course of assembling her thesis, Minerva uncovers information that reveals that Tremblay’s most famous novel, The Vanishing, was inspired by a true story—Tremblay attended the same school as Minerva decades before, during the Great Depression, and became obsessed with her beautiful and otherworldly roommate, who then disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
As Minerva descends ever deeper into Tremblay’s manuscript, she begins to sense that the same malign force that stalked Tremblay and the missing girl might still walk the halls of the campus. These eerie events also echo the stories her great-grandmother told her about her own girlhood in 1900s Mexico, in which she had a terrifying encounter with a witch.
Minerva suspects that the same shadow that darkened her great-grandmother’s and Tremblay’s lives is now threatening her in 1990s Massachusetts. An academic career can be a punishing pursuit, but it might turn outright deadly when witchcraft is involved.

Out now: The Seventh Veil of Salome
It's out! The Seventh Veil of Salome is out now. Three women, a pinch of Hollywood glamour, mix in with drama of Biblical proportions, and enjoy. If you've read it and liked it pls tell others. Thanks so much, everyone!
Here are a couple of reviews:
"In Moreno-Garcia’s skillful hands, you’ll find the satisfaction of richly drawn characters, saturated settings and deftly constructed plot twists. Inhaling her backlist has been the unexpected delight of my summer. No matter the genre — gothic, horror, noir — she’ll embody its essence with a verve all her own. “The Seventh Veil of Salome,” Moreno-Garcia’s 10th novel, is an old Hollywood tale crossed with fire and brimstone. And like her previous works, it’s a compulsive page turner... [and] a shrewd examination of faith and desire."—The New York Times Book Review
“There is magic in the work of Silvia Moreno-Garcia, even when the story she’s pursuing isn’t overtly magical. The genre-bending novelist (Mexican Gothic, Silver Nitrate) infuses every page with a sense of mythic power, ensuring that readers will be gripped, while also channeling the feeling of a fairy tale that could turn dark at any moment." —BookPage, starred review
