The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (Review)

If I could give this book and series 6 stars, then this would be it. I absolutely loved it! It was so well and cleverly written, with numerous twists and turns along the way. It's a real Game of Thrones meets the magical world of the fairies. If you're a fan of GOT and Shakespeare's Hamlet, then you will enjoy this book and the series as a whole.

In particular, I loved the main heroine, Jude Duarte, and her opposite lead, Prince Carden. They were both well written and their characters had a lot of depth to them. I enjoyed their growth in this novel, as well as in this series.

Highly recommend both this book and the series.

Turkish Tiles Review

This is a great introductory book into the world of Turkish ceramic art. From Ottoman tulips to Chinese cloud designs, to floral roses and cypress trees, these patterns all have deep symbolic meanings and cultural significance rooted within Turkish society. It's a fascinating book that covers each design, pattern and style pertaining to the rich history associated with this grand, famous and spectacular form of art.

This book is a real national treasure and if you've ever been curious to learn more about the hidden meanings and storytelling behind Turkish mosaics, then this is a fantastic read. Highly recommend to all readers.

The graphic designs and pictures found within this book were lovely, too. And if you've ever traveled to the cities of Istanbul, Bursa, Iznik, Izmir and Cappadocia, then you'll really come to appreciate this book all the more.

Recommendations for Great History Books About the Ancient World

Dear Readers,

If you're on the hunt for a great history book to read about the ancient world, then I have a few recommendations for you:

Ancient Civilizations and Ruins of Turkey

A fascinating read that takes the reader along a wondrous journey into the distant past of ancient Anatolia (modern day Turkey/Turkiye). The book goes into deep details about the various civilizations that once inhabited Turkiye, from the ancient Hittites, Lydians, Greeks and Romans.

What I particularly liked about this book is the various structural designs and sketches included in each chapter, which served as a tool to help readers better understand the architecture and culture associated within each various stage of civilization.

If you're a lover of history and interested in learning more about the ancient wonder of modern day Turkiye, then this is the perfect book to read.

Highly recommend.

Greco-Roman Cities of Aegean Turkey: History, Archaeology, Architecture

A great overview to the ancient architectural design to the Greek and Roman ruins in the Aegean region of modern day Turkey (Türkiye). Very detailed and educational. Great examples and sample designs included.

Overall, a great read and highly recommended.

If you’re a lover of ancient history, archeology and architecture, then this is a great book to pick up.
