I didn’t realise how challenging speaking to an audience you can’t see can be – I rely a lot on the cues from the audience to know whether to keep speaking on a particular point or move on, and I had none of that! Was tricky, but I think it went well. I received a lovely bunch of flowers from the CBCA-WA branch today (well, probably yest...

Snapshot 2012: Paul Haines, in memoriam

Powerful and terrifying, Paul Haines’ work was never for the faint-hearted, having at its core a horrible insight into the darkest parts of what it means to be human. But if there was ever a writer whose work gave no indication of the person behind the words, it was Paul. He is missed.

Paul himself gave the impetus for this memorial Snapshot with a post he made on his blog in November 2011, reprinted below. To this, his friends Adam Browne, Matthew Chrulew, Rjurik Davidson, Brendan Duffy, Andr...

Hmm, how’s that holiday list going?

Ah, yes, five days in and already feel like there’s NOT ENOUGH TIME!!! Why does time go so quickly when you’re on break?
