Assad to Obama: Get Out!
Of course, as the Drone-in-Chief promotes his 7th war, it is the reverse. We have never needed the first real peace candidate in American history more: Ron Paul.
Veepstakes
Politico, of course, doesn't mention Ron or the man who would be worthy of him, Judge Napolitano. But I am happy to do so!
Ron Paul Thinks Iranians Are Humans, Too
They have the same rights as everyone else. The are not subhumans, to be controlled or exterminated by the global overlords. To a hatevangelist, that makes Ron a bigot. After all, he brings up the sordid history of US intervention in Iran, and he doesn't worship a collection of foreign pols as God walking on earth. (Thanks to Chris Bieber)
UPDATE I have admired Ron Paul's courage and principle thousands of times over the years. But I never admired him more than in the last debate, when he took down the fascist Santorum over Iran. Indeed, I believe that was one for the history books.
Rick Perry, Starvation Advocate
Writes Bob Roddis:
Via Phil Girardi@antiwar.com: Rick Perry used Texas governor stationary to demand Eric Holder do something about the attempt to break the food blockade of the people of Gaza.
Ron, Mencken, and the Media
Banks Are Destroying the World
Banking, properly considered, is an essential market function: basically, paying interest on time deposits, loaning them out at interest, and profiting from the spread. Of course, fractional-reserves are a problem, and an essential cause of the business cycle. But there was always some limit, thanks to even an attenuated commodity standard. However, banking, as it has developed since Nixon led the world onto a pure fiat money standard 40 years ago, is a menace. With their cartel enforcers, the central banks, the commercial banks have taken us into a crisis of a magnitude never before seen in the history of the world. Banks and their friends have grown immensely rich through fraud and manipulation. But they are also immensely shaky. And make no mistake: the current Euro debt crisis, like the US depression, is entirely a function of commercial banks gone wild, through central banking, and tax victims being punished for the banksters. Indeed, we live in some sort of bankocracy, which must be overthrown. As it is, we are headed down the deepest economic hole ever dug. Ron Paul knows why, and he knows the way out. Listen to him.
The Most Principled Man Who Has Ever Run for Office in America
From an interview with Congressman Tim Johnson (R-IL):
CF: Whom are you supporting in the race for Republican presidential nomination?
TJ: I'm still looking at al the candidates. I'm a close personal friend of Ron Paul, and I have a huge amount of respect for him. Ron Paul is the most principled man—or woman—who has ever run for office in America in my political lifetime. He is committed to a set of principles; he doesn't deviate from those principles. His personal ethics are of the highest nature. Nobody has asked me to endorse them yet.
CF: I think Ron Paul is a mystery to many Americans. What's he like? Do you go out to dinner with him and just talk?
TJ: Sure. He's interesting, funny, extraordinarily bright, engaging—a fine human being. He's a real workout fanatic. He's in terrific shape. He's the kind of guy who, if you tell him what you're interested in, he probably knows something about it. He's got an eclectic knowledge, and he's able to talk about anything from sports to medicine—and everything in between.
Justin Raimondo: 'This Is the Worst'
Writes Justin:
Reason's Katharine Mangu-Ward was on Fox with someone I don't know discussing whether the media is deliberately slighting Ron Paul: you'll note that Mangu says no, they SHOULD be ignoring him, while the unknown woman (not a libertarian, I imagine) defends Ron and says that the fact that he's an antiwar Republican couild mean a breakthrouh for him because "Americans are sick of war." Yeah, and libertarians are sick of Reason magazine. Here's the clip. And here's Nick Gillespie whining about how many complaints they're getting about it.
