Pentagram To Hook Soldiers Brains to Computers

The US military has revealed $65 of funding for a programme to develop a ‘brain chip’ allowing humans to simply plug into a computer.

They say the system could give soldiers super senses and even help treat people with blindness, paralysis and speech disorders

The goal is ‘developing an implantable system able to provide precision communication between the brain and the digital world,’ DARPA officials said.

It has selected its five grant recipients for the Neural Engineering System Design (NE...

Your Bitter Enemy

Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen recently predicted that, thanks to the regulations implemented after the 2008 market meltdown, America would not experience another economic crisis “in our lifetimes.” Yellen’s statement should send shivers down our spines, as there are few more reliable signals of an impending recession, or worse, than when so-called “experts” proclaim that we are in an era of unending prosperity.

For instance, in the years leading up to the 2008 market meltdown, then-Fed C...

Is Your Health Being Ruined?

I often find myself looking up the nutrient profiles of the foods I eat. I try to do it on a regular basis, just to see where my diet is lacking. What I usually discover, is that I’m deficient in one nutrient or another. You really need to eat a lot of really high-quality foods to take in the vitamins and minerals that are recommended by the FDA. And even when you pull that off, it’s still isn’t necessarily enough. The daily recommended values that you see printed on the sides of most food pa...

No Help From the Cops

A 53-year-old man was shot and killed after he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Dayton last week.

Daron Orr was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports from local media. The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was questioned and released.

Police say the woman placed two separate calls to 911 on July 4: The first saying Orr was trying to break in, and the second saying she had shot him. Dayton Police Detective Gregg Gady confirmed that by the time police arri...

by Istvan Marko, J. Scott Armstrong, William M. Briggs, Kesten Green, Hermann Harde, David R. Legates, Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, and Willie Soon

The Lazy Earth Theory

A new study has simulated the formation of strike-slip faults in Earth’s crust, revealing new insight on how these earthquake-generating structures develop over time.

The researchers investigated a hypothesis known as ‘Lazy Earth,’ which suggests that faults take the easiest path for growth.

But, while they did find evidence to support the idea that faults evolve to increase their efficiency, they also found some ‘surprising’ phenomena at play.

The experiments showed that faults ‘shut off alo...

Taxation With Representation?

It has often been pointed out that corporate profits are double taxed when a corporation pays income tax on its profit and then shareholders pay income tax on that same profit when it is distributed as dividends.

Depending on your tax bracket, you will generally pay tax on the dividends of either 15 or 20 percent—just like the tax on other long-term capital gains. There is also an additional 3.8 percent surtax on net investment income for taxpayers that have net investment income above applic...

The Modern US Dollar

We’ve previously showed you 31 Fascinating Facts About the Dollar’s Early History, which highlighted the history of U.S. currency before the 20th century. This was a very interesting period in which we looked at the money used by the first colonists, the extreme bust of the Continental currency, the era of privately-issued bank notes, and Congress’ emergency issuance of the fiat “greenback” during the Civil War.

However, as The Money Project – an ongoing collaboration between Visual Capitalis...

Our Elections Are Not a Suicide Pact

After Trump’s meeting with Putin, I’ve never heard people clamoring for a war so loudly. “Trump is not protecting us from Putin!” “We’re under attack by the Russians!” “Someone needs to do something!” “We need to stop the Russians before it’s too late!” “We need to get tough with the Russians!”  “The Russians hacked into our nuclear facilities and we’re in danger!” And this gem: “We need regime change in Russia!”

Now these are all die-hard Democrats saying this. I would say half weren’t born...

Libertarians for WWIII

Fear and loathing of Russia is all the rage in Washington, D.C., as both liberal Democrats and neoconservative Republicans unite in a campaign to demonize the Kremlin as “the premier and most important threat, more so than ISIS,” as Sen. John McCain recently put it. While Hillary Clinton and her dead-ender supporters conjure a Vast Russian Conspiracy to hand the 2016 election to Donald Trump, and the neocons take advantage of this to push their longstanding hatred of Russian President Vladimi...
