Updated analysis of Hancock's 18th September prediction that hospital admissions for Covid were 'doubling every 8 days'.
So how is that going?
The figures for Covid-19 hospital admissions for four weeks since Hancock said this are now available.
HMG provides them here

As I pointed out in a previous posting,
this was a questionable statement about the present when it was made. How has it fared as a prediction or indeed as a general statement? This,

PETER HITCHENS: If anyone tries to force apart mourners at my funeral, Ill be back to haunt them!
This is Peter Hitchens Mail on Sunday column
If anyone tries to keep the mourners socially distanced at my funeral, I will come back from wherever I may be to haunt them. They wont like it, I promise.
And I also expect any members of my family to respond with proper British vigour to any such attempt.
If there is one place where Pfeffel Johnsons nasty new petty dictatorship ought to be afraid to tread, it is in this intensely private, raw occasion, when we stare through tears ...

My debate about the family with Polly Mackenzie of the think tank Demos, in 'Bright Blue' Magazine
I tell her ' No man fights freedom, as Karl Marx rightly noted. He fights at
most the freedom of others. In the last half-century, adults have
fought and won a great deal of freedom at the expense of children,
born and unborn. No doubt all our bank accounts have got bigger as
a result, and our stock of material goods has grown too, but we are
diminished as human beings. This is why I am not a Thatcherite, and,
as it seems, you are.

PETER HITCHENS: Save democracy and vote for my None Of The Below Party
This is Peter Hitchens Mail on Sunday column
Did democracy die the other night when Donald Trump and Joe Biden scuffled, snarled and shouted over each other, showing utter contempt for anyone intelligent who was watching?
People who loathe freedom, such as the Chinese Politburo in Peking, must have rejoiced at this spectacle of incoherence and crudity.
But theres no point in us feeling superior to those raucous Americans. Our own political debates are as mindless in their own way, a...

The 'Beijing' Kowtow and the Mumbai Jumbai Cringe - more on the strange renaming of cities
This is a considerable expansion and update of a posting I wrote some time ago about the strange, unexamined new habit of changing the names of major cities. I am constantly baffled by the readiness of people, institutions and newspapers to accept such renamings, especially as their origins are often quite nasty. First I'd like to express gratitude to Mark Higgie for a fascinating article ('Ducking Peking', no link yet available perhaps
