The Queen's Rules for Living Well | Bryan Kozlowski x Jennifer L. Scott Interview

Bryan Kozlowski, author of the new book, Long Live the Queen, is my guest on The Daily Connoisseur today. We had such a cracking conversation about Madame Chic, The Queen, and Jane Austen. You will not want to miss this interview. So make yourself a cup of tea (in your best china tea cup) and join in on the conversation.

What are the life lessons we can learn from Queen Elizabeth ll? I certainly had an eye-opening experience reading Long Live the Queen and discussing some of the more curious aspects of etiquette as they relate to good health and enjoying life. I would love to know what takeaways enriched you from our interview.

In addition to Long Live the Queen, Bryan is also the author of The Jane Austen Diet. You can find him at www.bryankozlowski.com  His books are so refreshing, insightful, and funny! I highly recommend them.

I hope you enjoyed today's video.

Comment of the Week

Last week's Bridgerton Regencycore fashion video drew many strong opinions in the comments. I haven't seen Bridgerton but from the comments, apparently I am not missing much! I enjoyed this review from Addie:

I never want to be negative, so I’ll say I love the fashion!! The show however, is not for me personally lol. I clicked on it thinking it would have a Jane Austen feel, but unfortunately it was so distasteful that it was like biting into a decadent chocolate filled with toothpaste.😝

Addie, I thought your critique was excellent. Ha! Thank you for keeping it positive, yet real.

Thank you for watching! I'd love to hear your thoughts about Long Live the Queen. I hope you have a wonderful week and I'll see you on Thursday for a brand new post.

Bridgerton Regencycore Fashion, Beauty & Tea Sets | 3 Articles on Dress

Welcome to a new 3 Articles on dress. Today we are exploring the fashionable world of Bridgerton, Netflix's hit Regency Era show.

Doesn't it feel like we were just recently discussing Cottagecore? Well goodbye Cottagecore, hello Regencycore! (Or so the fashion magazines say). Today I have an article from British Vogue, American Vogue, and Byrdie discussing everything you need to know about Regencycore and Bridgerton style.

But first, I have a confession to make. I haven't actually seen Bridgerton. Have you? I have heard it is very racy and that somewhat ruins the plot. What do you think? Let us know your opinion on the show.

This dress from Morning Lavender has many of the Regency Core characteristics with a modern twist.

The first article comes from British Vogue: Are You Ready for #Regencycore? Here's how to dress like a debutante by Alice Cary. I notice a decided slant for feminine dresses in white, cream, and blue. Pearl accessories in the form of jewelry and headbands, feathers, and dainty bags. Regencycore style seems like a more royal and upscale version of Cottagecore.

I recommend the following retailers for finding pretty and romantic Regencycore style:

Morning Lavender, Lulu's, SKYE (for pearl headbands and jewelry) Jennifer20 for 20% off,

The next article shares how to achieve the Regencycore look with makeup via Byrdie.  The emphasis here is on natural makeup the gives a dewy, flushed, romantic look. The two natural makeup brands I recommend for this romantic beauty look are Merit minimalist makeup and A'DEL Natural Cosmetics  TDC20 for 20% off

The Victoria Magazine blue roses tea set

The final article is from Vogue and shares the surprising uptick in fancy tea set sales since Bridgerton came on the scene. Thanks to Bridgerton, Fancy Tea Sets Have Become the New Home Must-Have. It's not surprising that a popular television program launches fashion trends, but I find it very curious that high-end tea sets have been one of the emerging style desires of Bridgerton fans. Some beautiful tea sets to consider are the Victoria Magazine blue roses tea set, And the tea sets featured at Riverbend Home

The necklace I am wearing in today's video is by SKYE. Jennifer20 for 20% off.

Thank you to Function of Beauty for sponsoring today's video.

Comment of the Week

Misslauramayy writes, Rachmaninoff had really large hands. As a result a lot of his compositions include chords that someone with average sized hands wouldn’t be able to play. Just a fun fact! Love your videos.

Hi Laura, it makes sense that Rachmaninoff had large hands. I don't see how it's possible to play one of his pieces, but clearly it can be done! Thanks for joining us for The Chic Assignment.

I hope you enjoyed today's video. Have you seen Bridgerton? What are your thoughts on Regencycore fashion? Let us know and your comment could be chosen as comment of the week.

The Chic Assignment | February 2021

Welcome to the first Chic Assignment of 2021. I look forward to restarting this series and exploring some amazing artists this year.

Chic Assignment no. 1 Rachmaninoff Prelude in C Sharp Minor (Op. 3 No. 2)

I have always been intimidated by Rachmaninoff. As a (very very amateur) pianist, I looked at my great grandmother's Rachmaninoff pieces and couldn't even fathom playing them. Even though they might be unattainable to the amateur musician, we can still enjoy his works. This month we are diving into this performance of Prelude in c sharp minor (Op. 3 no. 2) performed by Rousseau. We will dive into the biography of Rachmaninoff in the mid-month check-in.

Chic Assignment no. 2 Explore the art of William H. Johnson (1901-1970)
William H. Johnson was an American artist Born in South Carolina in 1901, he was a student of the National Academy of Design in New York City. His incredible career spanned several decades, but his works are only now getting the recognition that they deserve. I'm excited to learn more about William H. Johnson this month. Check out his artwork on WikiArt

Self-Portrait, 1929

Chalet in the Mountains, 1938
Folk Family, 1944

Chic Assignment no. 3 Work on building one new good habit this month. We are going to talk about habits and their importance throughout the month of February on the blog. A book that I highly recommend is Atomic Habits by James Clear
Chic Assignment no. 4 Maintain your clutter-free space. If you took part in Clutter-free January with us, you likely have some newly decluttered spaces. We are going to maintain those spaces throughout the month of February, taking care to keep them clutter-free.
Thank you for joining us for The Chic Assignment this month. Tag me with #TheChicAssignment on social media and invite a friend to join in. I look forward to a wonderful year of arts and culture.

Tote Bags vs. Crossbody | The Best Handbags of 2021

I recently conducted a poll on my YouTube channel asking what you are looking for in a handbag. The results were surprising! Not surprisingly, you were interested in totes. I expected this as I find totes the most handy handbag to have for moms. We have so much to carry, after all: water bottles, sunblock, hand sanitizer, diapers, wipes, wallets, snacks, and who knows what else goes into our Mary Poppins tote bags!

The part of the poll that surprised me was that most of you are interested in crossbody bags. I had outdated notions of the crossbody. I pictured a student's backpack or a sporty/ bulky crossbody. I am so glad I conducted my poll because it prompted me to look into the best tote and crossbodies on the market. Not only did I discover that you can virtually find any shape handbag you like and can convert it to the crossbody (the handbag retailers are on to our back problems!), but that the bags can actually be stylish. In today's review you'll see something for everyone.  I hope you enjoy today's video

Here is a quick guide to the handbag companies featured and their discount codes. I will also list them down below as I discuss the bags in more details.

⚜️Featured in the video

The American Leather Co. THEDAILY gives 25% off

Tocco Toscano (they have vegan options) TDCXTOS for 15% off

Susan Tancer Studios STSJEN20  for $20 off

Mark Cross (luxury handbags)

 American Leather Co.

The American Leather Co. handbags are made of 100% genuine American leather, antiqued hardware, and beautiful craftsmanship. This particular bag is the Carrie Dome Satchel. I love that it has the chic look of a satchel with the optional crossbody strap. This bag has two exterior front slip pockets, one exterior back pocket, one interior zip pocket, and two interior slip pockets. There is also a large interior compartment and the bag has a top zip closure. The crossbody shoulder strap is adjustable. This bag is so great, I love using it on casual but chic days. For The American Leather Co. use Code THEDAILY gives 25% off.

Tocco Toscano

Tocco Toscano means "Touch of Tuscany". This is their work BIB (bag in a bag) made of vegan leather. The feel of this bag is just like genuine leather and has a slight pebbled feel to it. My favorite part of this bag is the organizational compartments in the interior. everything is thought out from water bottle storage to lipstick storage! The work BiB can fit into their tote bags to keep you organized. Or, you can use this as a standalone bag. It comes with removable straps. TDCXTOS for 15% off (valid until March 31, 2021).
This Tocco Toscano nylon bag is so elegant. It gives me glorious preppy/ equestrian vibes. I love the option to use the top handle or the over-the-shoulder strap. Very elegant and high-quality construction. Code TDCXTOS gives 15% off (valid until March 31, 2021).
Teddy Blake

Teddy Blake handbags are made of premium Italian leather by experienced craftsmen in Italy. The bags are characterized by high quality construction and lots of interesting details. I love the vintage glamorous look these bags give. This is the Ava Croco Gold 11". It reminds me of the type of bag Audrey Hepburn would use. It's very sophisticated. The optional crossbody strap make this bag really functional and modern. You can save up to 60% off and the code TBJennC20 gives an Extra $20 Off!

Jord (vegan handbags)

Jord vegan handbags are made from the bark of the cork oak tree. The removal of the bark to create the material for these bags actually removes CO2 from the environment. So, not only are these bags sustainable, but they are doing something good for the environment. I love the unique look of cork and the juxtaposition with the elegant hardware. Jord vegan handbags are luxurious and are so stylish. thedailyconnoisseur25 for 25% off sitewide.

The following handbag companies were not featured in the video but are worth checking out:

Svala Vegan Leather Handbags  Svala handbags are luxury vegan leather handbags. They have a wide selection of beautifully designed styles that would interest any fashionista who is interested in vegan leather.

Susan Tancer Studios Susan creates her line of hand-painted and crafted clutches, shoulder and cross body bags, totes and weekenders that are one-of-a kind unique pieces of art – the go-to accessory if you want to stand out from the crowd of mass-production handbags. STSJEN20  for $20 off.

Comment of the WeekDonna writes, "Hi Jennifer, I just made and served the Pineapple Crusted fish for dinner - I used wild Alaskan salmon. My husband and I described it as "different" from any salmon we had ever cooked but we decided that we liked it - that it was a nice change. I used a can of crushed pineapple and I think next time I might drain a little of the juice so that the pineapple mixture is not quite so watery but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. It was a super easy recipe. Thank you so much, donna"
Hi Donna, I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the pineapple-crusted fish recipe. It is very adaptable and an easy way to add flavor to fish. I like your tip about draining the pineapple. I will try that next time too!
I hope you enjoyed this weekend's handbag review. If you have any great handbags you want to share, please let us know about them in the comments. If you have any further questions on the subject of handbags, let me know and I can do a follow-up video.

*NEW* What's for Dinner? Family of 6 Meal Plan | Winter 2021

Welcome to a brand new episode of What's for Dinner? In today's video I'm compiling the best recipes from our meal plan for the past few weeks. There is something here for everyone and in general, all of these meals were enjoyed by the adults and kids. I hope these meals give you some dinner inspiration for your family.

Pineapple-Crusted Steelhead Trout with Coconut Rice and Green Beans

This is a delicious way to enjoy fish. Salmon works well if you do not have Steelhead trout. For the coconut rice, replace the water in the the rice cooker with coconut milk and cook as usual. Sauté green beans in oil with 1 Tbs soy sauce and 1 tsp crushed garlic.

Ground Beef Tacos

These are pretty self-explanatory but I thought I'd include my kids' favorite meal: ground beef tacos. I cook 1 lb ground beef on the stove and drain the fat. Then I add 1/4 cup taco seasoning and 3/4 cup of water and cook for 5 minutes. I like to fry the corn tortillas in oil. I serve various toppings including chopped cilantro, green onions, grated cheese, chopped olives, red onion, and avocado. I finish them off with a squeeze of lime juice. Perfection!
Steak with herbed butter, mashed red potatoes, and green beans
I am not the best at making steak. I always overcook it! But this herbed butter makes the steak very juicy. I serve this with red potatoes mashed with butter, cream, salt, and pepper and serve with green beans.
{"name":"Steak with Herbed Butter","video":null,"recipeIngredient":["2 -4 Sirloin Steak filets","1 Tbs chopped parsley","1 tsp chopped thyme","2 Tbs green onion, chopped","1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)","1 tsp chopped garlic","1 tsp horseradish","1 Tbs dijon mustard"],"recipeInstructions":["Cook the steak according to your preference. Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetables of your choice. Created using The Recipes Generator.ccm-wrapper, .ccm-wrapper *{box-sizing: border-box;}.ccm-wrapper h3{margin: 0;}.ccm-show{display: block !important;}.ccm-link{ color: #4193f0;}.ccm-wrapper{ color:#000;max-width: 620px; position: relative;padding: 20px 20px 0;margin: 20px auto;background: #f2f2f2;border: 6px double #6672E5;}.ccm-name{all: unset;display: block;font-size: 20px!important;font-weight: 700!important; letter-spacing: 0px !important;}.ccm-info{position: relative;font-size: 13px;text-transform: capitalize;margin-bottom: 20px;}.ccm-author,.ccm-yield{display: inline-block;}.ccm-yield{margin-right: 30px;}.ccm-wrapper img{margin:0!important;padding:0!important;max-width: 100%;}.ccm-btns-wrapper{ position: relative;}#ccm-printbutton{margin: 0;color: #fff;padding: 0 20px;font-size: 14px;border-radius: 3px;cursor: pointer;height: 35px;background: #555;border: 0!important; outline: 0!important;display: inline-flex;align-items: center;justify-content: center;}.ccm-print-options{display: none;white-space: nowrap;position: absolute;top: 32px;right: 0;z-index: 2;background: #fff;border: 1px solid #ccc;}.ccm-print-options button{display: block;background: 0 0;border: 0;cursor: pointer;padding: 10px;width: 100%;text-align: left;}.ccm-print-options button:hover{color: #fff;background: #555;}.ccm-head{color: #000;font-size: 20px !important;font-weight: 700 !important;margin: 30px 0 0 !important;text-transform: uppercase !important;}.ccm-section-title{font-weight: 700; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 10px;}.ccm-section{padding-left: 20px;line-height: 1.7;margin: 10px 0 30px;}.ccm-section-items{margin: 0 !important;padding: 0 0 0 30px !important;}.ccm-section li{margin: 0 0 6px !important;padding: 0 !important;}.ccm-section-steps li{line-height: 1.6;margin-bottom: 10px !important;}.ccm-posturl{padding: 15px 0;border-top: 1px solid #ccc;}.ccm-posturl a{font-size: 13px;}.ccm-notes{font-size: 15px;padding: 15px 0 15px 30px;font-family: inherit;line-height: 1.7;white-space: pre-line}.ccm-notes p{margin-bottom: 0 !important;}.ccm-copyright{font-size: 13px;font-style: italic;line-height: 1.6;padding: 15px 0;border-top: 1px solid #ccc;}.ccm-credit{font-size: 12px;padding: 10px;text-align: center;background: #fff;margin: 0 -20px !important;border-bottom-left-radius: 10px;border-bottom-right-radius: 10px; border-top: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.15);}.ccm-credit a{color: #00f;text-decoration: none;}.ccm-keywords,.ccm-categories,.ccm-cuisine,.ccm-video,.ccm-section > br,.ccm-time br{display: none;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-wrapper{border:0;border-radius:10px;box-shadow:0 0 10px rgba(0,0,0,.25);}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-image{text-align:center;height:300px;margin:-20px!important;overflow:hidden;border-bottom:3px solid #6672E5;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-image img{width:100%;height:100%;min-height:100%;-o-object-fit:cover;object-fit:cover;-o-object-position:50% 50%;object-position:50% 50%;border-top-left-radius:10px;border-top-right-radius:10px;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-btns-wrapper{position:relative;text-align:center;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] #ccm-printbutton{border-radius:25px;width:120px;height:40px;font-weight:700;text-transform:uppercase;background:#6672E5;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-print-options{right:calc(50% - 53px);}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-name{text-align:center!important;margin:40px 0 20px!important;text-transform:capitalize;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-info{display:-webkit-box;display:-ms-flexbox;display:flex;-webkit-box-pack:justify;-ms-flex-pack:justify;justify-content:center;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-time{border-right:0;border-left:0;margin:0 -20px;border-top:1px dashed #000;border-bottom:1px dashed #000;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-summary{margin-bottom:25px;}[data-ccmcardnum='1'] .ccm-summary:after{content:'';display:block;width:50px;height:2px;background:#000;margin:auto;margin-top:10px;}var ccmPrintWin = null; function ccmpr(btn) { var id = btn.id; function ccmprNow() { if (ccmPrintWin == null || ccmPrintWin.closed) { ccmPrintWin = window.open("", "printwin"); } else { ccmPrintWin.close(); ccmPrintWin = window.open("", "printwin"); } var d = ccmPrintWin.document; d.querySelector("body").innerHTML = btn.closest(".ccm-card").outerHTML; if (id == "ccm-printWithoutImage") { d.querySelector(".ccm-image").remove(); } var n = d.createElement("style"); n.innerHTML = document.querySelector(".ccm-card-styles").innerHTML + "body{font-family:sans-serif}.adunit,.adunitlabel,.adunitwrapper,.ccm-hide-on-print,.chicory-order-ingredients,.clickToBuy{display:none!important}.ccm-wrapper{box-shadow:none!important}"; d.querySelector("head").appendChild(n);ccmPrintWin.print();}if(id === "ccm-printbutton"){var po = btn.closest(".ccm-wrapper").querySelector(".ccm-print-options"); po ? Fried Ravioli with Garden Salad

I have shared my fried ravioli recipe on the blog before. It's very simple. Beat two eggs in a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine one cup of dried bread crumbs with salt, pepper, 1 tsp italian herbs, and 1 Tbs grated parmesan cheese. Dip the ravioli in the egg mixture, coat in bread crumb mixture and fry in oil 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. You could also use an air fryer for these. Serve with a side of marinara sauce and a garden salad.
Buffalo Chicken Biscuit Bombs
I originally saw this recipe on Delish but have modified it in the recipe card below. It is easy and a nice refreshing idea for lunch. I served this with grilled asparagus and glazed carrots. For the glazed carrots: boil the chopped carrots until they are cooked through (not mushy). Drain the water.  Cook the carrots on the stove with a pat of butter and a drizzle of honey. Serve hot.  {"name":"Buffalo Chicken Biscuit Bombs","video":null,"recipeIngredient":["1 large (or 2 small) boneless, skinless chicken breast, cooked","3 Tbs buffalo sauce","1/2 cup softened cream cheese","1/2 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese","1 Tbs Ranch dressing","1 tube of refrigerated biscuits","melted butter for topping","chopped parsley for topping"],"recipeInstructions":["Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. ","In a mixing bowl, blend the cooked, shredded chicken with the buffalo sauce (if you don't have this you can use hot sauce), cream cheese, shredded cheese, and ranch dressing. ","Open the tube of biscuits and roll the biscuits out until they are around 4 inches wide. 4 Storage Home Organization Hacks That Have Improved my Daily Life | Clutter-Free January

Clutter-free January concludes as we explore the concept of Home Storage. Clutter-free January was started by Dawn from The Minimal Mom. You can watch the playlist here for the final week to get inspiration on how to deal with storage solutions as well as sentimental items. You can view the playlist here.

In this video, I share four storage hacks that have improved my daily life in small ways.

Makeup storage

The problem: My makeup was stored in my bathroom drawers and was not easily accessible. I couldn't see all of the makeup I had easily and ended up only using the same products while letting others go to waste.

The solution: This countertop clear makeup storage container is easily accessed from my vanity and clearly displays my favorite makeup.

China storage

The problem: Our tea sets, china, and seasonal platters and dishes were stored up high in our kitchen, not allowing for easy access. Our beautiful pieces were also hidden behind the cupboard doors and not displayed properly.

The solution: A second-hand refinished china cabinet bought on a local buy and sell website now stores our pretty china tea sets and dishes. These items are easily accessible and displayed beautifully. You can find the tea cup stands here and the dish stands here.

Toy storage

The problem: Toys were jumbled together and created a mess around the home.

The solution: A cube storage system with canvas bins allow toys to be categorized for easy clean up. An ottoman that doubles as a storage chest allows for easy clean-up with toys in the family room.

Entryway storage

The problem: Our shoes, coats, backpacks, helmets, and purses were not easily put away when we entered the home.

The solution: The second cubed storage shelf, minus the canvas bins, holds shoes for our family of 6 comfortably. The hooks on the wall easily store our coats, hats, and backpacks. The helmets now rest on the shoe storage for easy access. We also place our family command center in our entryway hallway as well.

MERIT Minimalist Makeup + Best 2021 Book Recommendations | Connoisseur Reviews

Welcome to a new episode of Connoisseur Reviews. It's been several months since I did one of these review videos and I have such a treat for you today.

I'm sharing some excellent book recommendations, a new minimalist makeup line, Ashwagandha gummies, digital Parisian wallpaper, and much more in today's video

Let's start off with Katherine Power's new minimalist makeup line, MERIT. Katherine Power, founder of Who What Wear, created MERIT with the idea that less is more when it comes to makeup. The makeup line is EU Compliant (free of 1,328 common toxins), paraben free, sulfate free, artificial fragrance free, sensitive skin safe, cruelty free and vegan. It also comes in recyclable packaging and the first order ships with a reusable makeup bag.

I share a quick 5-minute makeup routine in today's video that shows the ease of using these lovely products. The aim is to bring out natural beauty rather than covering up or altering the face. I can highly recommend this makeup line.

Long Live the Queen: 23 Rules for Living from Britain's Longest Reigning Monarch by Bryan Kozlowski. This book, by the author of The Jane Austen Diet, is absolutely delightful and full of delicious advice. I'll be interviewing Mr. Kozlowski in February and would love for you to read the book before our interview. Enjoy!

The Paris Library, by Janet Skeslien Charles. This book looks so interesting... I can't wait to dive into this new release!

Based on the true World War II story of the heroic librarians at the American Library in Paris, this is an unforgettable story of romance, friendship, family, and the power of literature to bring us together, perfect for fans of The Lilac Girls and The Paris Wife.

Set the Stars Alight by Amanda Dykes is on my reading list for this spring. Have a read of the description below. It sounds so mysterious and delightful.

In an aged brick cottage in London, the magic of the past comes alive each night for the family of a humble watchmaker. In her father's fireside stories, Lucy Claremont's fascination with the high seas begins, leading her to devote her life's work to discovering the whereabouts of a legendary lost ship. But when tragedy strikes, it's childhood friend Dashel and his knowledge of the stars that may help her solve the puzzle.

Two hundred years earlier, three young lives are altered forever when a shepherd rescues the privileged son of a powerful admiral. As the children grow, war leads to unthinkable heartbreak, deep love, and a story of betrayal, sacrifice, and redemption that fades into obscurity as centuries pass.

As Lucy and Dash explore mysterious ruins on the East Sussex coast, their search leads them to a community of souls and a long-hidden tale that may hold the answers--and the healing--they so desperately seek.

Atomic Habits by James Clear is one of those rare books that truly does give you actionable tips for changing your life. I highly recommend this one. I have enjoyed listening to it while I clean and it has motivated me even more. I'll be discussing this more on the channel later this year.

Secret Genius by Pinrose Perfume is a delightful perfume with the notes of caramel, Madagascan vanilla, and sandalwood. The shimmer mist gives the skin a delightful glowing sheen with a subtle shimmer. Code JSCOTT gives free shipping.

Goli create apple cider vinegar gummies that I love. Their new product, Ashwagandha gummies, reduces stress, boosts your mood, and improves your immune system. I enjoy gummies and think of them as a lovely treat each day. These are lovely, just like the ACV gummies. Code dailyconnoisseur gives 5% off.

Check out the whimsical Parisian digital wallpaper in The Daily Connoisseur shop on Teespring. These delightful designs come in a 6-pack ($5.99) or a 3-pack  and this 3-pack ($3.99). They are available for desktop, phone, and tablet and can create a beautiful look when you open up your devices everyday.

Comment of the WeekSusan M. writes, "I am a very organized CPA and I fully endorse your box system. I collect two months at a time (it sometimes oozes to three months) and put the folders in a banker's box stashed away. When the box gets full, I shred the oldest stuff. I have had to look through the folders maybe twice in the past 10 years. It is an easy system that works."

Hi Susan, it was great to read your comment and professional stamp of approval on my box system for filing. I was feeling rather nervous about sharing that one, but I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only one who does it. Thank you!
I hope you enjoyed today's issue of Connoisseur Reviews. If you have any great recommendations, please leave them in the comments so we can all benefit from your great find.

The Time-Saving Shortcut I use for Dealing with Paper Clutter + Our Command Center

Dealing with paper is one of my least favorite things to do. You wouldn't expect that a writer would hate paper so much, but I do! I find it overwhelming. It is one of my weak points. I never know what to get rid of and what to keep. I fear that I'll need something in the future. I dislike the amount of time it takes me to file things away properly. I always get behind. You get the picture.

This video is part of The Minimal Mom's Clutter-free January. Watch this playlist to find out how many other YouTube creators deal with paper clutter in their homes. (Playlist coming soon.)

Over the years I have devised an unconventional way to deal with paper that has worked for me... so far. I'm not saying this is the best system. But this system is great for someone like me who really detests paper clutter. It's also practical. So here it is...

With regard to paper clutter, the first thing you need to do is minimize it. So I opt for paperless services as much as I can. These days you can pretty much take care of all of your bills online and do not need paper. This is one of the major pros of digital technology. I pay nearly all of my bills online. Some companies still send me a paper statement. If I took some time I could eradicate those as well... I'll get to that one day.

So going paperless is step one. Step two is: file only the important papers. We do have an alphabetical filing system. And I used to spend so much time meticulously filing everything away only to find the system stuffed to the brim at the end of the year and having to declutter my files. (Now, decluttering files is really an arduous task.) Now, I only file away the *really* important documents. Documents like Property Tax records, important medical information, important insurance documents, etc.

Where does a piece of paper go if it's not deemed "really important"? Here is where you might break away from me... but I'm going to be honest and tell you what I do. I keep the documents in a box labeled with the year. Sometimes, if I don't have much paper, I will combine years. I figure that if I ever need those documents (and so far... I never have), I can take the time to sort through the paperwork in the box to supply what I need. This has been so freeing. So freeing. I no longer feel the need to alphabetically file every single paper that I decide to keep.

What do I do with the papers that I know I don't want to keep? I get rid of them right away and don't think twice about it. When we check the mail, I immediately sort through the envelopes and catalogues and immediately get rid of what I don't want by shredding or recycling it. Important documents or letters, I will place in my command center file. I used to place these in the kitchen, but as I mentioned in my kitchen decluttering video, that created an unsightly jumble of paper clutter on my countertops which I disliked. So I keep the few letters in the command center and then go through them about once a week to pay the bills or respond in a timely manner.

The command center I'm using here is from 1 Thrive Use code Daily10 for 10% off. The type I'm using is called The Taylor. I can't tell you how much I love this wall organizer. Please let me know if you'd like me to go over the wall organizer in a separate video. I use it for so much and truly find it valuable. I hope you enjoy hearing about my paper clutter organization in today's video.

Comment of the Week

Lottie M. writes, "Dressing for the winter months while living in a warm climate can be tricky. Specifically when it’s cool in the morning and 80* in the afternoon."

Hi Lottie, I completely understand that struggle. That's why I like to dress in layers so that I can remove them as the day warms up. It tends to be colder here in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. I'll often wear leggings or stockings along with sweaters or cardigans to stay warm at home.

I hope you enjoyed today's video. I would love to know how you deal with paper clutter in your household. Please share your tips with us.
