Updates and stuff

I've just finished writing the first draft of my next Love Letters story. This time my characters have taken off on an exotic adventure. Well, kinda. They went to India. They always say you should write what you know. That book will be turned in to our fearless editor in the next couple weeks. Then we don't have another due until February, so I have some other projects I plan to wrap up.

The story I've been calling Mr. Fix It is officially out on submission. I'm hoping my editor falls in love with it. Wonderful and good with his hands boy next door meets klutzy but super cute girl. What's not to love?

In the meantime, I finally managed to put together a Coming Soon page. I'll make my best attempt to keep it up-to-date in the future. There is some seriously awesome stuff that I'm excited about in the next year. Can't wait to see where it all leads.

That said, on to some more exciting things. Literary Lagniappe officially opened this week. Lisa Fox and I are super excited about this project. We've got a lot of awesome authors already lined up to play with us in the coming months, so make sure you stay tuned.

I'm also planning a fun party on my blog to host a big giveaway for a bunch of stuff from India before I leave. Tentatively, it will be called the "Emily went to India and all I got was this stupid prize pack" contest. I might think of something better. Probably not though.

The End of the Beginning

And so it begins...

A little while ago I revealed that the evil mastermind Lisa Fox and myself had developed a new blog to promote romance authors and their books. We called it Literary Lagniappe, cause we're cool like that. Well, that blog officially launches today with Lisa giving you a behind the scenes look at one of her own books.

Please stop by, enter her contest, and tell us what you think. I'll be there on Thursday sharing my own secrets.

Literary Lagniappe

If you're an author, we've still got some spots available in February that we're looking to fill. Check out the calendar and email us if you are interested.

12 Days of Christmas Guest Post at Sandra Sookoo's site

My author friend Sandra Sookoo was kind enough to invite me over today to discuss my feelings about the holiday season.  There is also a giveaway for an Amazon gift card and copy of the book that might interest you, if you happen to stop over and leave a comment.

It's also a great time to remind you that I have a great little holiday menage story out. TWO IS TWICE AS NICE is an m/f/m menage and is currently on sale on the Breathless Press website for $1.34.  Not too bad, if you ask me.

Killing Time

At the end of busy workdays in India, I am forced to retire to my not-that-quiet dorm room. Yes, you heard that right. I get to live in a dorm. With girls who are roughly 10 years younger than I am. It's all fun and games until they start squealing down the halls at 1AM. Then I kill them put my headphones in and pretend that I can't hear them.

Since I often lack internet, electricity, running water and other basic necessities with which to entertain myself, I bring several seasons of TV shows on DVD to keep me busy. So far, I've watched  season 1 of Dollhouse, season 1 of MASH (no comments from the peanut gallery), season 4 of Psych, and season 4 of Fringe. I've still got season 1 of Revenge to watch (I haven't seen it, so no spoilers) and a season of The Big Bang Theory that is being hauled over here for me by another American next week.
Currently, I am watching Due South. I'd never heard of or seen this before, but I saw a special on Amazon to get the whole series (3 or 4 seasons, depending if you get the Canadian or American version) for $20. I figured it couldn't hurt. Plus, that's 60 some 45 minute episodes. It kills a lot of time.

It took me a while to get in to the show, but now I am kind of loving it. I love Benton Fraser the Mountie so much. Why are there not more Mounties on TV? Or in romance books? I know the show is basically making fun of the differences between Americans and Canadians, but he is so sweet and nice. What I really want is for him to get a love interest.

It's also renewing my faith in mankind a bit, which, to be honest, has been a bit shaken this past couple weeks.
I only have one more question. What were people in the 90s thinking when they got dressed in the morning?

New Releases from Lori Toland and Sabrina York

Two of my friends put out awesome books yesterday, so I wanted to give them a shout out.

First, Lori Toland's holiday short story Payback (The Men of Firehouse 69) is now available.

Melanie is having a bad day. She nearly set her kitchen on fire and who comes running to her rescue? Firefighter Andre Wellings, her brother's best friend and her long time crush. Now she has to take a fire safety course with him but something's up and she plans to get to the bottom of this.
When Andre gets the call Mel is danger, he's scared to death of losing the woman he's always admired in secret. Now that she's safe, he breathes a sigh of relief until his teammates begin to tease her. Playing pranks on her when they were kids used to be fun but hurting her now isn't an option.
Caught in a web of lies, Andre shows up to her house with plans to set her straight but Melanie has a different idea. Too many years of having her pigtails pulled by Andre has made her hungry for revenge and now it's time for payback.

I beta read this story for her and let me tell you, it is H-O-T! If you like firemen, a little bit of naughty revenge, and plenty of sex, this book is for you. Plus, it is only $0.99. Well worth a read.
Second, Sabrina York, follow Ellora's Cave author and all around genius, has a new release out titled Training Tess

When Jared spots his sister’s very vanilla assistant in a BDSM club, he can hardly believe it. He’s lusted after Tess for years but didn’t think she could handle his darker needs. Like his predilection for cuffs. And whips. And spanking. Hell, for domination of every kind. But as soon as he sees her wearing a collar, he’s lost to his desire. He vows to claim her for his own.
For Tess, dressing up as a sub while researching an article she’s writing is a lark—until she sees Jared in the club. She may be new to the Dom/sub scene, but she knows what she wants. With Jared—and only Jared—can her deep, primal desires come to light and be fulfilled. Let the lessons begin.
Reader Advisory: One of the heroine’s lessons involves some sexy touching from a feisty Domme
I don't know about you, but I think that advisory sound more like a reason to actually buy the book. It's available on the EC website and on Amazon

That's not quite what I meant...

Misunderstandings can be one of the most fun and frustrating parts of traveling. I've learned how to prevent several in India, but there is always something new.

I was out shopping this weekend and decided to stop for an iced coffee on my way home. The coffee shop is about a mile from where I stay on weekends and my plan was to get the coffee to go and drink it on the walk home. It was hot out and this sounded like a really good idea. I've been sitting there and reading many days and they always serve the cold coffees I order in take away glasses anyway. Plus, the doctor I work for had just brought me back a latte that morning. I knew it was possible and I couldn't wait to indulge.

I placed my order, told them I wanted it for take-away, and waited. Then the woman reappeared carrying this.

See here is thing about me in India. I'm white. Really white. With reddish brown hair. I'm also about four inches taller than any other woman around. I look awkward. Which is probably good, because I am. Instead of simply trying to figure out away around this, I took my bag and left. I carried it the whole way back, including running across the street, while keeping the cup inside the bag upright.
When I opened it later, I discovered that they'd thankfully also covered the top with tin foil to keep it from sloshing around.  It was still cold and though I didn't get to enjoy it on my walk, I loved having it while resting and watching TV.

Have you had any misunderstandings lately?

What is that?

First, thanks to everyone who stopped by my Black Friday Blog Hop Post. Buffy Kennedy was my winner. I've emailed you to claim your prize.

On Saturday I posted a picture of my breakfast on Twitter and I got a lot of responses. Mostly wondering what the round green things were.

No, my breakfast doesn't normally come on silver platterThis is actually the first time I've been in India while they are in season, so I had to do some investigating via Google Images after they were served for dessert the night before. Turns out they are called sugar apples. Apparently the Indians around here call them custard apples though. I have to say, they do not taste like apples or custard, but they are very sweet.

Apparently, you can get good at telling from the outside how much fruit is on the inside. This one has pretty big little teardrop shapes, so I was hoping for lots of fruit and not a lot of seeds.

Success! So, basically you break it open and then just start eating. As you break the fruit off the big black seed (look like watermelon seeds, but bigger), you can spit out the parts you don't want. It is a messy process, but I have to say that I am overall impressed.

Especially considering they only sell them in boxes of 100 for about $2 a box. Yep, delicious and cheap.

Decadent Publishing Black Friday Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to my stop on the Decadent Publishing Black Friday Blog Hop.

So, if you're like me you've given up on the whole waiting in line at stores thing. I am much happier rolling out of bed at 10:00AM and sitting on the couch in my PJs while I shop online. Plus, since I fly home for the holidays, I can have all the stuff shipped to my mom and stored safely (unopened) until I get there. It really is the perfect arrangement.

Speaking of perfect arrangements (I'm not really good with these awkward transitions), three of my characters seem to have one of their own.
I'm talking about Natalie, Ian and Todd from Power Play (Book 2 in the Hat Trick Trilogy). Of course, it's a 1 Night Stand book, which means that all the fun takes place in a short span of time. I get a lot of questions from people wondering what happens next for these three. I decided that I'd let Natalie tell you herself.
Well, I guess that means I'm on. I admit I had my doubts about actually making a threesome last more than a night. Especially with two hockey players. They aren't typically known for being attentive or able to keep their hands off the puck bunnies who are always following them around. Add that to the fact that I am only one woman expected to satisfy the needs of two very energetic men and-- well, I can see why people might be a little confused.
I won't lie. There were some rough nights involved in trying to figure out the logistics of making sure every single one of us was satisfied. Todd is a sweetie and never wanted to speak up, but I had my ways of eventually getting the truth out of him. Once we had that out of the way, things just seemed to fall into place.
Oh, the question I get most often? Do our friends know? Well, some of that. At least that we know of. Scott and TJ were on to us instantly. It makes it easier though. We can be ourselves around them. On movie nights I get to sit in between my two guys and have both their arms wrapped around. It's especially nice when we go for a horror flick. I always feel safe and secure.
As for the rest of the team? I guess a few of them have probably guessed. Still, my lips are sealed and I won't tell if you won't.
You can find out more about Scott and TJ (who set up Todd, Ian and Natalie) in Goalie Interference (Hat Trick Trilogy Book 1).

In the meantime, you can tell me in the comments if you are planning on hitting the sales today (either in stores or online). I love hearing what people are hunting for. Leave a comment and I'll enter you to win an e-book copy of Power Play.

Oh, and don't forget that there are plenty more opportunities to win something. We've got almost 50 Decadent Publishing authors participating in this blog hop, each one giving away something different. Stop by all the places and enter each contest for more chances to win.

Oh, and don't forget to follow me on TwitterFriend or Like me on Facebook, or follow my blog to stay up to date with my new releases and promotions.
