May 19, 2016: Munchkin Meeples Now Available!

You can say it. You play more than just Munchkin and other SJ Games. It's OK. We do, too. But, we figured, why can't we Munchkin -ize the experience no matter what game we're playing?



Enter Munchkin Meeples . These little wooden buddies are your ticket to improving any game . . . even ours. Throw them in Munchkin Treasure Hunt as pawns. Make them your score markers in Revolution!  (Use the bigger ones after you reach 100 points.) Or add them to any board game to liven things up. Heck, decorate your desk, dot your dashboard, or cap off a cupcake with them.

May 15, 2016: Crowdfunding Focus: RenFest

I'm a big fan of TV comedy.  My top 10 shows include Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Freak And Geeks (which really struck home as a nerd growing up). I stumbled onto the show RenFest in my recommended Kickstarters, and was quickly inundated with friends recommending it to me. And . . . they're right! The trailer is hilarious, and features cast members of both previously-mentioned shows, as well as writers and actors from many other comedy projects. The campaign compares it to The Office, another favorite of mine, and I have to agree. It's got a bit of a mockumentary vibe, and explores the behind the scenes activity involved in running a sprawling Renaissance Faire, with the struggle between Elisabeth's desire for historical accuracy and Lloyd's eccentric marketing. 



Our friend and Munchkin Guest Artist , Len Peralta, is involved with the campaign as well, with a custom print available as one of the pledge levels. You can also get physical DVDs, digital content, and exclusive signed shirts. If you're a geek like myself, and enjoy real-world comedy, then this festival is one I would explore. The campaign just started, so you still have time to back!

May 14, 2016: Fan-Made Ogre CRT Dice

Proving yet again that SJ Games fans are some of the most creative people, Ogre player John Dallman sent us a pair of dice he created representing the Combat Result Table, without having to use the table itself! It's a pretty ingenious little system. Without confirming the math and statistics, it looks close enough to make for a great approximation. They are not official merchandise or for sale, but when a gamer creates something this cool, we want to highlight them. Great work John!

May 13, 2016: The Ultimate Car Wars Battleground!

You may not have heard of the Granite State Challenge, most likely because it's a group of friends playing Car Wars at their home. But once you see their setup, you'll wish you knew them. This group has taken their passion for car combat to the extreme, with a 96-square-foot custom board, complete with ads featuring the drivers, custom painted cars, tons of custom tokens, and of course prizes fit for these metal bashing kings.



They've held the Challenge for the past three years, and their love for the game shows with the arsenal of custom equipment, all the way down to the drivers licenses used to keep track of speed. The format this year was a race of laps, with one replacement car if your primary car gets destroyed. You don't necessarily have to win to be recognized, however. Respect is shown for being the first torched driver as well. Going down in a blaze of glory has its perks!

One of the pictures is a shot of Steve and me (with a Monica cameo appearance!) showing off the very first draft of Munchkin Shakespeare . . . which is not a thing and you never read anything about it. May 10, 2016: Welcome Aboard, Melody White - Admin Assistant

O hai! My name is Melody and I'm the new admin assistant / helper monkey for SJ Games. As such, I'll be here to help take care of the little things that slow down your daily roll . . . hopefully making the cogs in the engine move a little smoother, if possible!



As for the background stuff, the majority of my experience is in customer service, but I like to think that I'm a Jill of all trades. I know a little about a lot, and a lot about nerdy things. I spent a little over five years working for gaming companies around Austin, and I spend a lot of my gaming time playing PC strategy games or action RPGs. Much of my free time is spent with friends playing tabletop games – any one we see, we normally buy and end up playing on repeat for weeks. Time not spent gaming is spent with my dog, listening to/playing live music, or baking/cooking for my friends.



I love learning about the people around me and about new or exciting things, so please don't hesitate to walk up and have a chat if you would like to!
