You'd think the clergy would have a spellchecker.

One of the most popular expansions, Munchkin 3 - Clerical Errors features an all new Race and Class: Gnome and Bard! And you can don your Chainmail Bikini and face a Tequila Mockingbird, Bad Ass, or even the nefarious Auntie Paladin

If you enjoy our Guest Artist Editions , this expansion also features cards by some of our favorite comic artists like Phil Foglio's Magnificent Hat and Randy Millholland's Redneck Tree

Munchkin 4: The Need For Steed Munchkin 4 - The Need For Steed

Do you pine for equine?

Then this is the expansion for you! But not just horses. You've got some exotic mounts like the Dragon and Tiger. Oh, not weird enough for you? How about a Giant Mutant Gerbil? Does that do it for you? Thought so.

If Steeds aren't your thing, you also get Hirelings, like Big Joe who works as both a Steed and a Hireling. This expansion is chock full of partners for all sorts of munchkins!

June 27, 2016: Munchkin Legends Guest Artist Edition At Target Now!

Munchkin Legends Guest Artist Edition

It took a Herculean effort, but we've managed not to say much about Munchkin Legends Guest Artist Edition before now. It was sort of a secret – our store-exclusive games usually are, until they're on shelves.

And guess what? This game's on shelves at your local Target!

This new take on characters from myths and legends comes from illustrator Mike Luckas, who's also done quite a few Munchkin comics. His art style brings the game a fun new take on cards like the Minotaur, Thor's Hammer, Shiva the Destroyer, Atlantis, and a Digital Cloak.

Go forth to meet your destiny. (Hint: Your destiny is to play this game.)

June 25, 2016: Thanks For Playtesting Munchkin CCG!

You may have heard that we're making  The   Munchkin Collectable Card Game ! Well, we are, and it's great!

I'm not going to bore you with the details about what all goes into making a collectable card game (at least, not today), but I do want to talk about playtesting. With games of this type, you tend to have hundreds of cards, and they all interact in strange and interesting ways. It's part of what makes the games so much fun. If I use this card with this other card, I can instantly win!

That's also part of the problem. We would rather not have a two-card combo that lets you just win the game. Sometimes you can see those interactions just by knowing what everything does and seeing that X plus Y equals bad times. However, there are many more that are a bit more subtle and are best found through actually playing the game.

The best way to test the game the thousands of times it needs to be played is with lots of gamers! We have a small list of local Austinites that we invite to our offices when we have something that needs to be played, but we needed to supplement this list with way more people.

For that, we turned to our wonderful Friendly Local Game Stores here in town!

We'd like to thank Dragon's Lair for hosting us and bringing us players week after week! They have an amazing store with friendly, knowledgable staff!

Next up is Wonko's Toys and Games! We always have a great time there and the owners Eric, Denise, and Erica Dow are always the most gracious of hosts!

Another big thank you goes to Mothership Books and Games and Lauren for having us come in and for bringing us more wonderful gamers!

Last, but most certainly not least, we'd like to thank Outlaw Moon Games & Toys. We love you guys and will be back as often as we can!

The biggest thank you of all goes to each and every one of the people who sat down to play test the game with us. We couldn't do it without all of you!

June 22, 2016: Munchkin Comic #18 In Stores Now!

Munchkin 18 Munchkin 18

Munchkin comics #18 by BOOM! Studios is now in stores! And it's got an explosive storyline! It's a pun. Because there is an explosion. In the comic. Anyway!

In this issue, Spyke and Flower fight a creature from another realm. I'm not saying there are cultists, but there are cultists. The main story is from the game writer Will Hindmarch, with art from Len Peralta, the illustrator behind Munchkin Apocalypse Guest Artist Edition and his own Geek a Week trading cards project, which is super cool. The two shorter stories are by Andrew Hackard and Steve Jackson.

Also, side note, may I just say that I am pretty excited to be working here now? I just said, out loud, to a friend, in real life: "Yeah, I'm working right now. I'm reading a comic so I can write a blog post about it." It's at your local comic shopMunchkin comics are fun. Read them. Bye.

June 20, 2016: Munchkin Cthulhu Guest Artist Edition: Then And Now

Great Cthulhu
Investigator

The release of Katie Cook's Munchkin Cthulhu Guest Artist Edition is fast approaching (shipping later this month, actually!), and we wanted to show some how two different artists tackled the same cards.

John Kovalic's version is classic. Being a horror theme instead of fantasy, John was able to flex his illustrative muscles a bit and give players iconic images of their non-Euclidian overlords. Cards like Great Cthulhu have become staples of our Lovecraftian themes here at SJ Games, and rightfully so! Considering how many Cthulhu-themed games we have in the lineup now, you can see the impact of the Great Old One.

Ichor Liquor Blasphemous Katie has worked with us on many projects, from Munchkin Love Shark Baby to the more recent Munchkin Kittens and Puppies . Her art is mirthful and cute, so of course we tapped her for Munchkin Cthulhu Guest Artist Edition! Her reimaginings of the meddlesome Miskatonic investigators and Elder things have are horrifically adorable. Ichor Liquor in particular is a perfect example of how a simple art swap can change the focus of the joke. Blasphemous on the other hand is a great reinterpretation of an already funny joke, but each is unique!

The gates are unsealed, and the time is almost here. Prepare yourself, and preorder Munchkin Cthulhu Guest Artist Edition at your FLGS or Warehouse 23 today!

June 19, 2016: Ariel Barkhurst Joins The Marketing Team!

Ariel Barkhurst

My name is Ariel Barkhurst, and I estimate that overall, on a daily basis, I spend more time thinking about people and places that don't exist than ones that do. I'm the new copywriter at Steve Jackson Games, which means I'll put words together in ways I hope make people buy and play games. You could say I'm from all over America because I'm an Air Force brat, but you could also say I'm from Pallet Town, because when I was growing up that's what I would have told you. I went to college at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where I learned how to do journalism and, just as importantly, how to be snobby about tacos. Then I was a journalist at a newspaper in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for four years, where I learned more about writing and where I wished there were more tacos. Now I'm back in Texas, and it's not just because I missed the tacos, though it's definitely not not because I missed the tacos. I love games of all kinds – from Catanto boffer LARP, and everything in between. Just give me a way to pretend I'm someone or something else doing something else, because in real life I'm mostly just eating tacos.
