July 8, 2016: A Long-Overdue Munchkin FAQ Update
It has been years since we gave the Munchkin FAQ more than a spit-and-polish update. When I went to look at it earlier this year, I winced; some answers were out of date and there were dozens of questions that really needed to be added.
I'm pleased to announce that after several weeks of work, the new Munchkin FAQ is live. Go give it a look-see, and then come to the forums if you have comments or questions. We'd love to hear your thoughts!
(Yes, I have set myself a reminder to look at the FAQ more often. A frequent reminder.)

July 7, 2016: Thank GURPS It's Thursday?
Thursdays have always been great for
GURPS
fans because that's when new digital items are uploaded. But lately Thursdays have been even better. Every Thursday since January,
GURPS Martial Arts: Technical Grappling
author (and big-time
GURPS
fan) Douglas Cole has been consolidating various blog posts that pertain to
GURPS
. Each week offers dozens of new posts from throughout cyberspace on myriad topics, including material by other popular
GURPS
authors! New rules, campaign ideas, untangling of thorny issues, reviews of new items, and general
GURPS
musings are all fair game.
To find out the latest from GURPS fandom, check out this thread on the forums (jump to the last page for the most recent updates). And if you want to join in the fun, there's information in that thread, too. Thursdays have never been so awesome!

Hope I get to see you there!

July 5, 2016: Go Get The Game Moop's Monster Mashup, Ready To Be Reserved!
Actual aficionados can now acquire all the alliteration of our amazing activity, Moop's Monster Mashup , ahead of the average admirer.
. . . Well, that went ok.
What we mean is, fans can now preorder our upcoming Munchkin game, Moop's Monster Mashup , coming in July! Place an order with your friendly local game store, or reserve a copy on Warehouse 23.
It's got all the puns and wordplay of other Munchkin games, plus the amazing art of Ian McGinty.
Let the back of the box prove it: "The marvelous, mysterious, mixed-up magician Moop manufactured mashed-up monsters. Maybe the munchkins can massacre the mob of mortal menaces!"
Yep, it's definitely Munchkin .
Kick down a door only to have a Fallrus drop down on you from above, tusks and all. Fight the Ghost Pepper, which is both a ghost and a pepper. Those Hot Cross Bunnies sure are angry, and on fire. Whatever you fight, don't forget to drink your Buff-alo Potion. Try on those Sockodiles. Pick up that Halbird; maybe it won't fly away before you use it.
Moop, the mixed-up mage in the middle of the menagerie may be my new favorite Munchkin character. Don't miss out on owning all his crazy creations: preorder today!

July 4, 2016: Let's Play Games And Hang Out With Other People Who Play Games - Happy Fourth!
I played
Munchkin
for the first time on the Fourth of July, years ago.
It was about a year after I moved from South Texas, where my family lives, to South Florida, which is literally a 24-hour car ride away. But playing Munchkin with the new game-loving friends I made in Florida while we talked about the semi-legal fireworks exploding in the background made me feel like I'd found a new home.
That is, up until I drew the Duck of Doom .
. . . Just kidding. I still liked it after I drew the Duck of Doom.
Anyway, I'm telling you this because I was asked to blog about the Fourth of July, and I have strong feelings about this holiday. The Fourth of July doesn't have to be like Christmas or Thanksgiving, with mandatory family time and depression if you're the only unmarried cousin. It can be a holiday about spending time with the people in your life who like to do what you do. And I'm betting that if you're reading this blog, at least some of those people play games.
So mark the holiday the way I like to mark it. Play some games! I'm not saying go play Munchkin , specifically; that's just an actually true story from my life. I'm also not saying you should go buy our Fourth of July-themed Chibithulhu Plush ; I want them all for myself. I'm just saying, whoever you're with today, maybe take some time to bust out some social games like
Me, I'm on vacation with my sister, and there will be games. I plan to entice her to play Bang!: The Dice Game .
Happy Fourth of July, sports fans.

July 3, 2016: LibertyCon 29 - Chattanooga, TN - July 8-10, 2016
Last year's LibertyCon was so good (and that's not even counting the train ride) that I'll be back. Even by the high standards of Southern conventions, the con committee is fun and friendly, the fans are fun and friendly, and the local MIBs are enthusiastic, fun, and fiendish. Oops, I meant "friendly." Really.
And there's a particularly good art show.
I will make a significant new product announcement, and show off a prototype, at my "What's New at SJ Games" talk. That prototype will get a lot of play afterward. I do so predict!
I will not immediately log on and duplicate that product announcement. LibertyCon gets the scoop on that, which means that if you want to know that weekend, your best bet is to follow the blogs, twitstreams, etc., of those who are there.
If you're not already signed up for the con . . . too late. They're full. Sorry about that. Register early next year!

It's a busy con season, and we're just getting started! Who needs sleep?!

Also, another piece of, uh, big news: We'll be debuting our one-of-a-kind, oversized version of Bill & Ted's Excellent Boardgame, so come play it! June 30, 2016: New Releases For June
There was much Munchkin in the month of June – over the last few weeks, we've released stuff to help store and to supplement your Munchkin collection! We do it because we care. And because if we don't, Spyke and Flower become sentient manifest beings and throw things at us.
Munchkin Monster Box
Store your Munchkin loot in style!
These big boxes aim to contain your full collection of Munchkin merchandise, so there will be no more need to cart around stacks of smaller boxes. Each one has room for over 2,000 cards, a Kill-O-Meter , a Level Playing Field , some Dungeons and Seals, and anything else you use to enhance your games.
(Know what doesn't fit? Sentient manifest 3-D versions of game characters. Trust us, we've tried.)
There are three versions of the Monster Box to pick from, each illustrated by a different artist: Edwin Huang, Ian McGinty, and John Kovalic! You can choose your own cover at your local game store, or roll the dice and order online – a random cover, one out of the three, will be delivered to your door.
Every monster box also includes six reprinted Munchkin promotional bookmarks and ten reprinted Munchkin promotional cards.
Munchkin Playmat: Flower Cashes In
Treat your treasure like gold!
Take good care of all your loot with this fabric 14" by 28" playmat. It helps you organize your Class, Race, level, and all your gear – and Flower tosses in some extra gold when you sell items! The mat features a cool illustration, from the pencil of Edwin Huang, of Flower atop her huge hoard.
Munchkin Apocalypse Guest Artist Edition
The world may be ending . . . but the fun is just beginning!
Len Peralta is known for his Geek a Week trading cards and the Ten State comic book. And he's illustrated Munchkin before, creating artwork for Munchkin The Guild and the recent Star Munchkin Guest Artist Edition .
Now he's back with more guest artistry on Munchkin Apocalypse Guest Artist Edition ! The game features a unique circular gameboard and completely re-llustrated game cards. It's available exclusively at Barnes & Noble.
The world won't necessarily end if you don't play this game, but we can't guarantee that it won't.
Munchkin Apocalypse 2 Guest Artist Edition
This summer, the world will end … again.
Okay, so the world didn't end yet. It can't, because there's got to be a sequel.
For the first time, a Munchkin guest artist tackles an expansion with Len Peralta's Munchkin Apocalypse 2 Guest Artist Edition.
You can go up against mutants, bandits, and the Seals of the Apocalypse, all with brand-new art. This expansion is also exclusively at Barnes & Noble.
Munchkin #18
So entertaining, it's got to be from another plain.
This month's edition of the Munchkin comic book features a bevy of beloved Lovecraftian tropes, none of which can stand against the practical monster-killing and treasure-grabbing tactics of Spyke and Flower.
With art from Len Peralta and storylines from Will Hindmarch, Andrew Hackard, and Steve Jackson, it's a shot of classic Munchkin fun you can take even when there's nobody to play with.
(Buy one or all of these great offerings from Steve Jackson Games, and the sentient manifest versions of Spyke and Flower might just leave us alone for a while. Please.)
– Ariel Barkhurst
Warehouse 23 News: The Comic Side Of Cthulhu?!

June 29, 2016: A GURPS Supplement Worthy Of Glowing Reviews?
"Nuclear power plant" and "uh-oh" are two phrases you don't generally want near each other . . . unless it's in a modern RPG campaign and you're looking for an awesome plot development! Bring those worst-case scenarios to life with GURPS Disasters: Meltdown and Fallout .
This supplement is your guide to modern nuclear reactors (plus some theoretical ones), as well as an in-depth look at radiation in GURPS . Discover what fuels today's reactors, what can go wrong, and how to put it right (or get out of the way). Unleash radioactive threats on unsuspecting heroes . . . or use the included gear and insight to let them contain and avoid it.
This volume also examines GURPS traits that normal humans might have in these situations, plus radiation-tied advantages that more unusual entities might exhibit. It provides a plethora of insight into how to use reactors in modern, historial, fantastic, or futuristic campaigns, plus a bibliography for further inspiration.
Whether you're looking for an exciting danger to use in a GURPS Action adventure, inspiration to spice up a GURPS Supers setting, or a way to unleash a GURPS After the End campaign, GURPS Disasters: Meltdown and Fallout is your one-stop guide to turning a worst-case scenario into best-possible gaming!

Warehouse 23 News: Warehouse 23 Summer Plans

Trickier email questions might need to wait 'til we get back on July 11. (Of course, our awesome digital items will continue to be available for instant download at all hours!)
