November 14, 2016: Guest Artists And Comics, A Perfect Pairing

An astute reader may notice that many of our Munchkin Guest Artist series collaborators also contribute to Munchkin comics from BOOM! Studios. (Maybe because we constantly point it out.) We point it out because it's exciting to see these talented artists' work in both the games and comics, and we don't want anyone to miss out! Not only is the art amazing, but it also highlights the broad range of the artists, and lets some of them expand on the worlds they already dipped their toes into in the Guest Artist series. 



Take, for instance, the story in issue #22 of Munchkin comics called "We're Safe Here – This Is A Bowling Alley," an undead tale drawn by Greg Hyland. This coincided with the release of Munchkin Zombies Guest Artist Edition , and let Hyland develop some fun characters in the same universe. Readers can get a glimpse of the background and hilarious antics that would go on in a world like Munchkin Zombies . But it's also funny for someone who may not have played the game. Credit to Dave Scheidt for the gut-busting story. (Don't literally bust your gut; that would attract zombies.)







On the flip side, "Munch-Fu: The Legend Continues" is Ian McGinty's take on the world of Munchkin Fu . Ian was the artist for Munchkin Guest Artist Edition (and Munchkin Knights , to boot), so he has a completely fresh take on Munchkin Fu . And to add even more intrigue, the original Munchkin Fu artist was none other than Greg Hyland! I smell a conspiracy. So if you're a fan of the Munchkin Fu -niverse, like John Kovalic's Munchkin Fu Guest Artist Edition , this is a side-splitting story about Flower's journey for revenge.

November 13, 2016: Come See Us At BGG.Con!

On the road again! That's right – this weekend, we're at BGG.Con at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport. Stop by our booth to say hi to Andreas, Ariel, Jimmie, Randy, and me, and check out our latest games!



We will be playing Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game , in which you are one of Gotham City's greatest supervillains. Roll the dice to get lots of loot, but watch out for the Caped Crusader! Not only will you be able to see the game in action, but we'll have a small supply of early copies on sale. It will be the first time anyone can buy the game, and they'll be gone fast! 



You want heavy metal? We have the HEAVIEST metal around! Ogre Sixth Edition . Play as the Ogre and destroy the enemy's Command Post, or play defense and stop the Ogre cold! And if you're into Ogre, we also have our Ogre Miniatures Set 1 Kickstarter in progress-- perfect for upgrading the upcoming game. 



While we personally love zombies, we will be demoing I Hate Zombies at our booth. Play a human and save humanity, or be a zombie and eat BRAAAAAIIIINNNSSS! Don't forget to check out our giant I Hate Zombies horde game Saturday night! There are some sweet zombie prize packs up for grabs, too. 



Maybe you like cats? Check out Simon's Cat Card Game ! Match the color or number of the previously played card, or pick up the mess. Get too many messes, and you'll get all the blame. Come by and play it right meow! Last, but certainly not least, we'll be playing Ghosts Love Candy ! You're a ghost trying to haunt kids and take their candy. Get the best candy and win! Watch out, though, if you scare them too much they'll run away, and you'll lose points!



We'll have a limited amount of each of the above games for sale at the show, as well as a very limited, early supply of some of our 2017 Munchkin releases. These include  Munchkin Apocalypse: Judge Dredd , with art from the classic comics, and Super Munchkin Guest Artist Edition , with art by Lar DeSouza. These will be very limited stock, though – only a handful – so make sure you get to the booth early!

November 11, 2016: Preorder Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game Today!

Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game is shipping as we speak, and available for preorder now at your friendly local game store and Warehouse 23!



I bet you didn't see that coming. Because Batman is sneaky like that, a stealthy do-gooder, always foiling the plans of honest, hard-working criminals. You play one of those Super-Villains, The Joker, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, or Catwoman, and try to get the most money out of the bank before the Bat catches up! Banks have so much money, they surely won't miss a few extra bags, right?



In addition to a wide retail release, we have a fun surprise –  Batman: The Animated Series Dice Game will be available in very limited quantities for early purchase at BGG.Con! We'll also have a chilling promo card for the ice-cold villain Mr. Freeze. So if you're at the convention, make sure you swing by our booth, demo the game, and grab a copy before they're gone.

November 9, 2016: Get Ready For A Raid

Do you hear those sirens in the distance? That's the sound of a raid . . . a  Yellow Brick Raid!



In fact, it's Munchkin Oz 2 – Yellow Brick Raid , the first expansion to the Munchkin game set somewhere over the rainbow! Loot the Emerald City even more thoroughly than before with 56 new cards inspired by the 14 Oz books by L. Frank Baum.



There are 34 Doors and 22 Treasures, with plenty of monsters (including a handful of high-level ones), some Allies and Curses, and lots of treasure. Now, you can fight the Googly-Goo or The Lizard of Oz in the Lemonade Rain and Popcorn Snow using a Can of Brains or the Magic Apron.



It's a great way to experience all the characters, locations, and quirks of the Oz books, whether you're a fan –  or you've always meant to read them but never quite got around to it.



The art by original Munchkin illustrator John Kovalic is a ton of fun (as usual), so it'll go great with either Kovalic's Munchkin Oz or Katie Cook's Munchkin Oz Guest Artist Edition .

November 8, 2016: Ogre Miniatures Set 1 Rolls Onto Kickstarter

The ground shakes. There's a distant rumble, like thunder cresting the hill . . . except this is not natural. It's a deadly, AI-controlled tank – an Ogre. And now it's coming to Kickstarter, in miniature form!

Hot on the heels of our recent Ogre Sixth Edition announcements, Steve Jackson Games is proud to present the Ogre Miniatures Set 1 Kickstarter! This long-awaited collection includes all the units from Ogre Sixth Edition rendered in three of our glorious dimensions. We've taken the classic line of miniatures that veteran players loved, improved them, and rendered them in plastic. As is, these highly detailed sculpts will make your Ogre game stand out on the tabletop, but they also make a great canvas to show off your mini-painting skills.



Included with the set are more than 30 miniatures representing Infantry, Heavy Tanks, Missile Tanks, GEVs, Howitzers, and a Command Post in Paneuropean blue, and the infamous Ogre Mark III and Mark V in Combine red. You'll get enough miniatures to play a full game of Ogre Sixth Edition, for only $30. November 7, 2016: Munchkin Pathfinder Guest Artist Edition Coming To A Store Near You!

Munchkin Pathfinder Guest Artist Edition gives players all the pathfinding and munchkining of the original Munchkin Pathfinder , with illustrations from Shane White, artist for the  Pathfinder: Goblins!  comic.



And it will be at your local game store soon!



Classic Pathfinder classes like Alchemist and Witch, along with weapons like the T-Bone Stake, are reimagined in Shane's dynamic art style. (And you'll need the best weapons to defeat the hordes of goblins, and stronger enemies like Lamashtu, the Mother of Monsters.) His experience in the Pathfinder universe shows, and gives Spyke and Flower a whole new look.

November 5, 2016: Extra Life Game Marathon For Charity

Do you like helping kids? Then this weekend, support a great charity – Extra Life! Gamers around the country are playing 24-hour streams to raise money for Children's Miracle Network, which helps kids dealing with terrible stuff and hospital visits that no child should have to endure. It's a great cause, and all you have to do to help is watch gamers play games, and donate!



Many streams are taking place on Twitch over this weekend. You can also check out their donation pages to make a contribution. Anything helps, even a buck, though more is always welcome. If you'd like, it's easy to participate, as well! You play games with your friends all the time, so why not start your own Extra Life page (like my friends and I do each year, shameless plug) and see what you can raise? Your friendly local game store may be running something as well, so check with the store to see if you can be involved!
