Rodeo Hearts

Wildand free

Like a mustang running ‘cross the openplains,

Youand me

Diving headlong screaming through aring of flame.

Andwe never stop to wonder if

Itall might fall apart.

Wejust ride that raging bull with our rodeo hearts.

Eyeto eye

Is what we see when we are in the hereand now.

Nogoodbye.

Wouldn’t want to face the futureanyhow.

Andwe’ll ride this bronco to a place

Wherereason soon departs,

Livingout our dreams right now with our rodeo hearts.

Reachingout and reaching onto every crazy dream,

Makingno excuses on the way.

Fillingup our senses til they’re bursting at the seams,

Webrave the night until the break of day.

Untilthen

There is no denying what we have todo.

Itwould be a sin

If we stopped right now and didn’t seeit through.

So, we take our winnings and we say a prayer

Asthe wisdom soon departs.

We’lljust keep on riding high on our rodeo hearts.

Without Rhythm or Rhyme

Please,take all this pain away,

Clearthese memories and ease my mind,

Playsome old songs that we once knew

Froma happier time.

Allthese feelings you say are new

Arejust new ways to be unkind.

Theyappear like the morning news

Withoutrhythm or rhyme.

Yousay that you’re unhappy

Withthe way I’ve treated you,

Andyou’d be better off out on your own.

Butif I have mistreated you

I’llgladly make amends,

ButI can’t do a thing to make it right

Ifyou are gone.

I’mjust a man,

I’mnot too smart

Wherewomen are concerned,

Butthat’s no reason to give up.

Thereare lessons to be learned.

Ifyou can give us one more chance

I’llget it right this time,

Insteadof walking away

Withoutrhythm or rhyme.

3-2-1-Blastoff

Upall night thinking about tomorrow.

Mustadmit you were on my mind.

Staringat your picture in the moonlight,

Longingjust to hold your hand in mine.

Youwalk in the room, my heart starts racing.

Youhave no idea what you have done.

Mymind is like a rocket on the launch pad

Countingdown to blastoff 3-2-1.

Everytime I think of you it happens.

Everytime I see your perfect smile.

Justto have a chance to taste your sweet lips

Youknow I would fly a million miles.

Youhave such a way to make me happy.

Thereis nothing that I wouldn’t do

Tohold you in my arms and dance together.

Lifewould have no meaning without you.

Wecan take this rocket ship together,

Ridethe rings of Saturn and beyond.

There’sno telling where the flight might take us

Whenwe count it down… 3-2-1-

Blastoff.

The Flight of Angels

Inthe huddle of every life

Therewill come a time

Whensweet providence rears its head

Andwants to take us away from here

Toa level that we can’t see

Withthese faltering eyes,

Liftedup on angel wings

Ridinghigh with no fear.

Inthe flight of angels,

Nomore worries and no more cares,

Gentlyfolded in angel arms,

Liftedup above all despair,

Takeninto that Promised Land,

Nomore crying and no goodbyes,

Inthe flight of angels

Whereno one ever dies.

Iwas lost with a tortured soul,

Tossing,turning all night,

Tryinghard just to understand

Thesubtle differences of wrong and right.

Thenthe angels reached out to me,

Liftedmy veil of gray,

Ledme into the sweetest light,

Tookmy fears away.

Inthe flight of angels….

My Friend

Lifeis a candle,

Aflickering light,

Silentlybreathing a sigh,

Guidingthe way through

Thedark stormy night,

Watchingthe world strolling by.

Youare the angel

Sentstraight from heaven

Toshield my light from the wind,

Sharingthe burdens

Ingood times and bad,

Lovingand being a friend.

Nevera question to stay or to go,

You’realways there by my side.

Whenlost in a labyrinth I always know

You’llknow the way,

You’llbe my guide.

Everyhour of

Everyday,

Nomatter where, no matter when

Freedomis knowing you’re always there.

You’llalways be my friend.

You Saved Me Again

Yousaved me

Justwhen my life was spinning out of control.

Yourushed right in

Withunderstanding and a hand to hold.

Youtouched my heart

Andshowed me how it is to be a friend.

Oh,and now

Inmy lonely hour

Yousaved me again.

Youtouched me

Ingentle ways that I have never known.

Downdeep inside

It’sclear to see how much the feeling has grown.

Iknow it’s true

You’llalways be there when I need a friend.

Andwhen I’m down

You’llbe around

Tosave me again.

Inmy darkest hour when all hope was lost

Youwere always there with me

Travelingthe road, sharing every load,

Knowingthis is how it’s always meant to be.

Therewill come a day

Ican repay the kindness you have shown.

I’llstep right in

Ifyou are feeling lost and alone.

I’llprove to you

I’velearned just what it means to be a friend.

Withoutregret

Iwon’t forget

Howyou saved me again and again and again.

Paying the Price

Doyou remember a time

Backin our prime,

Backwhen our hearts were both young.

Itwas just you and me

Wildand free

Happilyfocused on just having fun.

Buttime has a way

Ofmaking us pay

Forevery roll of the dice.

Webet it all

Andour bluff gets called,

Andwe end up paying the price.

Afterall the dances

Andthe chances that we dared

It’samazing that we’re both still here.

Youand me together

Damnthe weather, we don’t care.

Wecould face the devil without fear.

Solet the piper play,

We’llpay him someday,

Letthe music go on for a while.

Honeycan’t you see

It’sjust reality.

Wecan dance and stroll another mile.

Wecan face another day,

Itall passes anyway,

Socut that cake and have another slice.

Putyour worries in the past

Becausenothing ever lasts

Andwe all end up paying the price.

Backed Up on the Freeway

Ileft your arms this morning,

Didn’twant to go.

Spentall day at work. Seems like

Amillion years or more.

Whistleblows and now I’m gone

Ina screaming streak of blue,

Butnow I’m backed up on the freeway

Tryingto get back home to you.

Fadeleft, fade right,

Ina sea of red tail lights.

Nosaving off-ramp can I see,

Justtons of metal blocking me from you.

Icall you on the telephone,

“Babe,I’m trying to make it home”.

Andyou say it’s okay,

Youunderstand.

That’sthe time I realize

Thelove that I find in your eyes,

AndI’m so lucky

Justto be your man.

Nowwhat’s that up ahead I see?

Thatwall of traffic breaking free,

Thisrolling prison soon may be

Anopen highway leading me to you.

Theminutes seem to pass like days

Andmy mind is in such a haze,

Onlyone thought keeps me going

Strongto see it through.

Knowingat my journeys end

Iwill see your face again,

Iwon’t be backed up on the freeway

Tryingto get back home to you.

Let’s Get Out of Here

Let’sget out of here.

Let’sgo for a walk.

Noone else, just you and me,

Someplacewhere we can talk.

Yourhead on my shoulder,

Iwhisper soft in your ear,

Tellyou how much I love you

AsI’m holding you near.

Iknow you came here to have a little fun,

Todance a dance or two and maybe meet someone,

Butevery time I look into your eyes

WhatI want to say is so clear.

That’show I know

It’stime to go,

So,Baby, let’s get out of here.

Let’sget out of here.

Iknow a place we can go

Wherethe music plays softly

Andthe lights are low.

Ican sing you sweet love songs,

Takeaway all your fears.

Tellyou how much I love you.

Let’sget out of here.

On the Fourth Floor

Sittingalone in this third floor apartment

Asalone as a body can be,

Staringat streetlamps til way after midnight

Starvingfor your company.

Longingto call, but knowing you’re busy

Withyour life and your brand new love. You’re up on the fourth floor

WhileI sit here longing,

Withheaven just one floor above.

Therewas a time when you said you loved me

Andpromised to always be true,

ButI wasn’t ready, the timing seemed wrong, and

Iacted just like a fool.

Nowthat I know the mistake that I made

You’vehad the strength to move on.

You’reup on the fourth floor,

Happyat last,

WhileI sit here drinking alone.

Noone can know how good we might have been

IfI had seen Heaven back when.

Ican’t help but wonder; would I get it right

IfI had the chance to start over again?

Ihope you’re happy. Hope that it lasts.

Ihope that he’ll always be true.

Butif things don’t work out, just call out my name

AndI will come running to you.

Onefloor below you, just biding my time,

Knowingthat Heaven’s in view

Upon the fourth floor you smile down at me

AndI’m patiently waiting for you.
