Everything will be Alright
Iremember those times back when I was a kid
Whenthe world would come crashing
Withall of its might.
Noone could save me til Momma stepped in
Toassure me that “everything will be alright”.
Lifecan be crazy.
Lifecan be cruel.
Sometimesyou can’t tell what’s wrong from what’s right.
ButMom was the touchstone that made it all clear
Saying,“Don’t you know everything will be alright?”
Ican still see her standing at the front door,
Hereyes filled with wisdom, without any fears,
Knowingthe answer before I asked the questions,
Readyto wipe away all of my tears.
Ihope that her days never turn dark and gray,
Hopethat her future will always be bright.
Butif she ever needs me
I’llreach out my hand
Andsay, “Don’t worry, Momma,
Everythingwill be alright.”

Climb the Stairs
Somuch to tell you…
Solittle time…
Longingthe sweet taste
Ofyour lips on mine.
Washingaway
Allour worries and cares.
Timestands still
Aswe climb the stairs.
Dayslast forever
Whenwe are apart,
Countingeach second
TilI find my heart.
Theglint of your smile,
Thescent of your hair,
Lifebegins
Aswe climb the stairs.
Lifeis a highway and you hold the keys
Toevery dream that I weave.
Iwould be nothing without loving you,
That’swhy I’m wearing my heart on my sleeve.
Icount my blessings
Andsay a brief prayer,
Knowinghow wonderful
Mylife can be.
Whenwe climb the stairs
Atthe end of the day
Upto Heaven…
Justyou and me.

The Wind Sings Your Name
Thebreezes glide free over welcoming trees
Whosway back and forth as if playing a game,
Anda song, sweet and gentle, comes soft to my ear,
Everclear as the wind sings your name.
Iwalk next to Heaven with your hand in mine,
Letthe rest of the world go insane.
We’rehere together at the end of the day
Huddledclose as the wind sings your name.
Nevera question,
Nevera doubt,
Noneed for us to pretend.
Anytime we see the end of a road,
Wefind a way to start over again.
Ionly know when I walk close to you
Weknow where we’re going
Fromthe way that we’ve came.
Tolisten,
Towonder,
Toknow that it’s true,
It’syou…
And the wind sings your name.

Drink to Us
Raisea glass,
Raise a bottle,
Drain the keg if you please,
Runyour engine full throttle
In the cool evening breeze.
Bea friend,
Be a partner,
Be the one that I trust.
Drinka toast to forever,
Drink to us.
Ican recall all the good times we’ve known,
Themillion and one ways our friendship has grown,
Thelaughter, the tears, the frets and the fuss,
So,let’s toast to ourselves,
Drinkto us.
Raisea glass,
Raise a bottle,
Drain the keg if you please,
Runyour engine full throttle
In the cool evening breeze.
Bea friend,
Be a partner,
Be the one that I trust.
Drinka toast to forever,
Drink to us.
Neversay never, and always be true.
Ican’t imagine a time without you.
We’retaking our time. There’s no need to rush.
Raiseyour glass one more time.
Drinkto us.

Whispering Trees
Secretsare living
Inevery corner,
Ridingthe waves of
Asoft summer breeze,
Hidingin colors
Thatfollow the rainbow,
Bornon the soft breath
Ofwhispering trees.
Rosecolored glasses
Canmake things seem better,
Hideall the misery
Toa degree,
Butthe trees bare their fruit
Inhushes and whispers,
Yieldingthe harsh truth of reality.
Sweetsighs and goodbyes abound in her boughs,
Everyword ever said.
Silenceand thunder and all in between,
Everythought out of every head.
Youcan find Heaven,
Youcan find hell,
Youcan fall down
Onyour knees.
Offera prayer for
Theknowledge you find
Inthe voices of
Whisperingtrees.

Tight Black Leather
Hattiewalks into the Red Rooster Bar,
Everyhead turns her way.
Jawsdrop, eyes blink, tongues get all tied up,
Nobodyknows what to say.
Marriedguys wishing that they were still single,
Singleguys starting to drool,
Watchingher walking in that tight black leather,
Anxiousto offer a welcome barstool.
Shedoesn’t see the effect that she’s having,
Ormaybe she knows.
Awink and a blink and an innocent smile
Cantake her as far as she’s wanting to go.
SomedayI’m hoping to work up the nerve
Togo up and ask her to dance.
ButI wouldn’t want her to laugh in my face,
I’dbe afraid to take such a chance.
Womenlike Hattie are special, you know.
Onthat point we all can agree.
She’scrossing the room in that tight black leather,
AndI hope she sits next to me.
Whatdo I do if she bids me ‘hello’?
Willmy lips find an opening line?
WillI stutter and stammer to find the right words
Tosay to a lady who seems so refined?
Ijust stay quiet as she walks on by,
ThoughI think she did glance my way.
Shekeeps walking on in that sleek tight black leather
Neverknowing she just made my day.

Working the Room
Champagneglasses clink together,
Laughterfills the evening air,
Musicset its subtle mood as
Fashionflashes everywhere.
Inthe middle of it all
Youbegin to weave your loom,
AndI can only stand in awe
Towatch you work the room.
There’sa sparkle in your eye
Meantfor all the world to know,
Capturedfrom a midnight sky,
Projectedin its afterglow.
Liftingup your audience
Farbeyond the waning moon,
Magicfollows everywhere as you’re
Workingthe room.
Otherstry to steal your spotlight,
Butthey can’t compete.
Theyjust fade into the background,
Leftto worship at your feet.
Youare every roving star
Fillingup the nighttime sky,
Flauntingwings of fantasy;
Nevermind the reason why.
Findingfavor everywhere to
Chaseaway the gloom.
There’sa celebration as you’re
Workingthe room.

Trails of Trials
Takethis cup away.
I’vealready filled it up with tears
Traveleddown this road before;
Beena wayward rover all these years;
Blazeda thousand trails,
Musthave wandered for a million miles,
Wonderingif there will be an end
Tothese trails of trials.
Ikeep wanting to pretend
Everythingis alright,
Flipa switch and start again
Tosing a brand new song,
Takeanother golden path
Tolead me to happiness,
Butevery time I turn my head I see
Thatthe feeling is wrong.
Hitthe highway running strong,
Nothingreally left to lose,
Takedirections from the wind,
Finda brand new attitude.
MaybeI can change my luck,
Maybejust a few more miles
Ican find a brand new me
Onthese trails of trials.

Rapture
It’sjust you and I, my love,
Wrappedup in this rapture,
Contentjust to be as one
Asthe twilight fades into the night.
We’recounting the falling stars
Thatrace through the heavens
Torest in your waiting eye,
Andthe world seems so right.
Onelast kiss and we say goodnight,
Yourhead on my pillow.
Fallasleep sharing so much more
Thanthe air that we breathe.
Twohearts keeping perfect time
Ina silent forever
Withthe rapture of happiness
Inthe dreams that we weave.
Ifthe whole world goes crazy
AndI can’t seem to go one more mile,
It’senough just to be
Inyour sweet company.
AllI need is the warmth of your smile.
Theworld can fade into dust.
Its’treasures can’t last anyway.
Butone thing I know for sure
Willendure to the end of all days.
Thisrapture we feel inside
Willalways be there to see us through.
Fromnow til the end of time
Myrapture is loving you.

Rodeo Hearts
Wildand free
Like a mustang running ‘cross the openplains,
Youand me
Diving headlong screaming through aring of flame.
Andwe never stop to wonder if
Itall might fall apart.
Wejust ride that raging bull with our rodeo hearts.
Eyeto eye
Is what we see when we are in the hereand now.
Nogoodbye.
Wouldn’t want to face the futureanyhow.
Andwe’ll ride this bronco to a place
Wherereason soon departs,
Livingout our dreams right now with our rodeo hearts.
Reachingout and reaching onto every crazy dream,
Makingno excuses on the way.
Fillingup our senses til they’re bursting at the seams,
Webrave the night until the break of day.
Untilthen
There is no denying what we have todo.
Itwould be a sin
If we stopped right now and didn’t seeit through.
So, we take our winnings and we say a prayer
Asthe wisdom soon departs.
We’lljust keep on riding high on our rodeo hearts.
