Opal’s Wish – official excerpt

OPAL’S WISH
(Book 4 of The Crystal Warriors Series)
By Maree Anderson

**Excerpt**

~*~

Chapter One

The barely discernible whisper invading his mind might once have filled him with hope. Now he felt nothing at all. Hope was pointless when such whispers heralded the onset of madness. This was Halja, after all—the afterlife awaiting those who displeased the gods. A place devoid of hope.

The temperature of his prison was a constant lukewarm. Or perhaps, blood-warm was a more appropriate term for a warrio...

Of opals, warriors, and coffee-bean dresses

Good news! Now that line-edits are completed on Opal’s Wish, I’m about to post a proper excerpt which I’ll link to in the book page :) But in the meantime, after the last somewhat angsty post, I promised a lighter, more amusing discourse… and I’d like to keep that promise.

Okay, so I don’t know ’bout you, but I often find it bloody disappointing when characters depicted in my favorite romance novels don’t match up to the models used on the cover. I’m like, GRRRRR! if the hair color doesn’t mat...

When The End is nowhere in sight

opals wish 1600x2400 When The End is nowhere in sightMy reading list for February is a bit shorter than usual because a release date deadline and urgent edits had to take priority over just about everything else. But I’m happy to say that I’m almost at the finish line; I’m currently doing line-edits for Opal’s Wish, so there’ll be an excerpt to go with the pre-order’s blurb very soon. And then I get to put out a bunch of my eBooks in print, and to start work on the third Freaks book. Fun times ahead.Woohoo!

I know I usually talk about a book or t...

Just a quick post today, I’m afraid. I’ve hit the 70,ooo word mark on Opal’s Wish (Crystal Warriors 4) and I need to keep writing through the weekend.

Seeing Red and Cute Cuddly Wombats

Where did January go??? It’s like I blinked and a whole month went by! In a couple of days the Christmas holidays will be over and the kids will be back at school… and I’ll have the house to myself again. Well, except for the week where my lovely quiet house will be invaded by builders who need to fix the bloody great hole in a downstairs bedroom’s ceiling and repair the water damage resulting from a pinhole-sized leak in a water pipe. Not to mention the carpet cleaners who’ll come in once th...

Beauties, Geeks & Bachelors

Disclaimer: I’m not particularly good at deconstructing something and analyzing exactly why I enjoy it. Whether that “thing” happens to be wine, a book, a TV show or a movie, it’s more a gut feeling with me. I just know I enjoyed the hell out of it, and it’s difficult for me to convey to someone exactly why. (Which is why I don’t properly review books on this blog, and I’m all “Squeeeeeee! I loved this book soooo much!” and sharing an excerpt, rather than a thought-provoking breakdown about w...
