Squarespace tip: Customize the navigation pane
I stumbled upon this today. If you hold down on one of the navigation buttons on the left black pane in your Squarespace backend, you can move any item. It'll even let you hide what you don't want to see. Like so:

How to grab the file URL for embedded audio in a Squarespace post
This one is a little clunky.
Podcasting or embedding audio is incredibly easy with Squarespace, but one niggling annoyance I've found is that once the audio is embedded, it's tough to link elsewhere. You can't, say, send a direct link to a friend in any simple way. And if you're shooting your posts to Tumblr, the audio embed simply won't show up.
Here's how I've been doing it. If you know a better way, please let me know!
1) After posting your audio, load the RSS feed for your page. If you don't know your rss feed, use this method. Copy and paste your feed into a new tab. You'll see a bunch of code.
2) Now, hit ctrl-f or cmd-f on a mac to find something on the page, then type in the extension of the audio (mp3 or m4v or whatever you uploaded). Use the first instance of it on the page. You should see something like
http://static.squarespace.com/static/....
Copy that.
2) Now, paste it into a new tab. It should begin playing your audio. That's it! You can now use this link on Tumblr, other social media sites, or to use as a bookmark directly to your content for indexing.

Return and Ridicule
I saw Bill Gurley say that you can only make money by being right about something that most people think is wrong. His logic was that you can't make money by being wrong. And you can't make money by being right about something everyone else knows. So you have to be right about something that most people think is wrong.
Boom.

I'm not surprised at all to hear that Hannibal Lecter has become the most interesting superhero on television | I'm Canadian, so I never really understood the difference between American 'network' and 'cable' TV, but the 'network' side looks to be in trouble | The new Louis CK special should be mandatory for all, including people who need a little more feminist comedy
"And now, as he turns 75, the particulars of Superman’s future are hazy." | "Going less than 15 miles an hour diminishes Cruise's power. At this point, it no longer makes sense for him to keep making science fiction movies, anyway. He still looks naturally 30. He is science fiction." | "An obviousness made of just two words. Beautiful solutions. Any other word decorates what has been stated before with implicit information, therefore: unnecessary." | "You will never please everyone. You will never win that battle."
Mad Men on pregnancy and raising a child, female trailblazers, the allure of the morally bankrupt, chastising double standards, and self-sabotage.

'Futurama' not renewed
Comedy Central has decided not to renew Futurama, which means that the 31st-century-set animated comedy will end its 140-episode run on Sept. 4. The final 13 episodes, which represent the second half of season 7, begin airing on June 19 at 10 p.m.
2013 brought the end of 30 Rock, Futurama, and likely Parks and Recreation and Community. What a gaping chasm of sweet, smart comedy.

John Barrymore
I really like the poster I made for Lombard vs Barrymore, but I thought I could take the Barrymore bit farther.

Which Xbox Music album is the one without censorship?
Because Xbox music counts censored and non-censored music as seperate releases, you sometimes get lists of albums like this:

Most releases do say something like "Edited," but even if it does, the text will just flow off the side of the frame, so you can't tell. Again, most of the time the top-most album is the censored version, but even that's not true all the time. Best way to go is to simply begin streaming a song and wait until you hear something they'd probably censor. If they don't censor it, download that one.
Or get the one with all the bleeping and Lifetime re-writes. I'm not your dad.
