Kurt Angle Ponders Olympic Comeback
Kurt Angle won a gold medal for the United States before going into professional wrestling. Fifteen years later, and now in his 40s, he wants to go back to the Olympics."It's not just this old man trying to lash out to get publicity," Angle told WTAE Channel 4 Action News on Friday. "It's about really making the team and making a point that, you know what, the 40s is not old. It's the new young."
President Obama enters White House Correspondent's Dinner to "Real American"
Complete with his own TitanTron video featuring exploding birth certificates, baseball and Transformers. Surely WWE will reference this very soon.
Politics and professional wrestling just go so well together. One is a group of one-dimensional, unbelievable characters screaming at each other as they pretend to fight, and the other is professional wrestling.
"Now, I know that he's taken some flak lately, but no one is prouder to put this birth certificate..."

Archaic Thinking
Changes in their ailing PPV formula look unlikely as Vince defended their themed PPVs idea and PG no blood policy, even going so far as to say: "People aren't going to tune in to see people bleed. That's archaic thinking." Occasional blood doesn't seem to have hurt UFC's popularity.
You know what's archaic thinking? Comparing a company that promotes fights with a company that promotes fake fights.
Fair to Flair: (Belated) Raw Review - 04/25/11: The WWE Draft
Cody Rhodes is a perfect mixture of all the things that make wrestling awesome. He's old school, crazy, a complete caricature of a deranged human being and has family who wrestle that he can consciously or subconsciously reference in a promo (anybody catch that Goldust sneer at the end?). He also has a lisp and will still try and say the word "anesthesiologist" on national television.
I'm Mitch's biggest fan.
In case anyone wondered if I gave a quarter-crap about UFC.
WrestleMania 27 Earns 1 Million PPV Buys for WWE
After recruiting top talent from the world of entertainment to help hype the "showcase of the immortals," early reports show that WWE reached its goal of 1 million PPV buys for WrestleMania 27.
This year's event is up 30% in North America and 15% overseas compared to last year's WrestleMania which generated 885,000 orders, down from 960,000 in 2009.
Goes to show the huge disparity between what the IWC thinks is a good show and what people will actually buy.

TNA: Negativity Defined
Backstage segments are rife with beatdowns and loud arguments; it is rare to see a backstage segment on Impact where someone is not yelling at someone else, be they heroes or villains. The Knockouts do not get better treatment: instead of being given real reasons to feud with each other, many of the storylines and segments involving the female performers are comprised of the women using perjorative terms such as "bitch" and "slut" to describe each other. The women are presented as catty jerks and the men seem to always be angry at each other for even the slightest perceived insult; the only person in TNA who is presented as having any sort of positive overall attitude is Eric Young, and his character makes him out to be mentally challenged.
Last month I wrote three articles (Come See The Broken Man, Reaction was the true alternative, and The Curse of the TNA Title)about how TNA isn't operating under the same rules of wrestling broadcasting that we're used to. Whether on purpose or completely by accident, they have in fact created an alternate universe, where men and women operate under different social expecations. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's picked up on this.
