TNA: Negativity Defined:
Backstage segments are rife with beatdowns and loud arguments; it is rare to see a backstage segment on Impact where someone is not yelling at someone else, be they heroes or villains. The Knockouts do not get better treatment: instead of being given real reasons to feud with each other, many of the storylines and segments involving the female performers are comprised of the women using perjorative terms such as "bitch" and "slut" to describe each other. The women are presented as catty jerks and the men seem to always be angry at each other for even the slightest perceived insult; the only person in TNA who is presented as having any sort of positive overall attitude is Eric Young, and his character makes him out to be mentally challenged.
Last month I wrote three articles (Come See The Broken Man, Reaction was the true alternative, and The Curse of the TNA Title)about how TNA isn't operating under the same rules of wrestling broadcasting that we're used to. Whether on purpose or completely by accident, they have in fact created an alternate universe, where men and women operate under different social expecations. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's picked up on this.
