Libraries: I heart you.
So a few months ago I recieved an email from Lucas Maxwell, the Youth Services Librarian at the Tantallon Public Library in Nova Scotia, Canada. He had a request: would I please be willing to send a quick letter to the teens at his library explaining how important libraries are to me. I thought this was a fantastic idea.

Signed Copies!
Just in case you're one of those people who want my illegible scrawl on your copy of HMC,N, and just incase you don't live in the Seattle area*, I've set something up with one of my local independents to make your dreams come true**! All you have to do is email Steve Winter (swinter@thirdplacebooks.com) at Third Place Books and he will make magic happen. He will also contact me so I can sign your book.

Zombie Con! And things!
I will at Seattle Zombie Con this month! I'm excited because I've never been able to go. My friends Erika and Eric at Imaginary Trends are kindly letting me crash their booth. They are also the lovely folks who made my T-shirts. Joining us for (I think) two of the days, are the fine folks at Boxhounds! Fun will be had by all.

Short Story Anthology Update
Hi all--you've probably been wondering where I've been. Actually, you probably haven't. I think only six people read this thing anyway. But in case you're one of the six, I was in Edinburgh so I was too busy to do blargy things, because Edinburgh is amazing. I actually want to go back already. Meh.

Who's Got the Readers That Rock The Party? (A Rhetorical Question)
Look, there are a lot of books out there. I should know. I'm trying to read them all. I think I've been making good progress on that, by the way. Knowing how many millions of books you have to choose from, I'm forever grateful to those who choose to spend their free time reading mine. Seriously guys, I'm grateful.

HMC, N Playlist
I don't know if I told you guys this, but the book is coming out in Indonesia. This is very exciting for me, even though I'm not 100% sure what language they speak in Indonesia (Internet--behold and bask in the glory of my mighty IGNORANCE!). Anyway, the lovely person translating the book asked me for a playlist version of the chapters because they weren't going to translate well, but she wanted to add them at the back of the book so people could check it out if they so choose.

Proof That the Written Word Can Be Oh-So-Dangerous
There's been a lot of hubbub over this article lately. And it's easy to see why. People still get really upset over books and what they think kids should read. And, in a sense, I completely understand. Books hold ideas, and new ideas can be scary. Some of them are rather unpleasant.

American Library Association Shindig in New Orleans
So I'll be in New Orleans for ALA this year. I thought I'd post a few of the events should any of you guys be fancy-pants librarians. So here's where I'll be (as far as I know):

The Shortest Blog Entry in the History of Blog Entries!*
Q: Will there be a sequel?
A: Yes.**
Q: Well, then when is it coming out?
A: Possibly Fall of 2012. This might change.***
*This is probably a lie. There are probably much shorter blogs entries out there. I'm way too lazy to look into this.
