VIDEO in the aftermath of Jihad Train Station Bombing in Russia, 16 dead #savages

The massive explosion at a train station in the Russian city of Volgograd killed at least 16 people, including a nine-year-old girl and one police officer, the Investigative Committee of Russia said on its website Sunday.

Volgograd, once called Stalingrad, is a major rail hub in the region, and each day thousands of passengers pass through the station, many on their way to Moscow.

The devout bomber used the equivalent of 10 kilograms of TNT and included shrapnel.

The station was packed with people traveling home for New Year's celebrations when the massive explosion tore through the railway station.

Azamat Suleymanov, an officer at the Interior Ministry of Dagestan, said they are fairly certain of the identity of the bomber.

"For legal reasons we cannot yet say that we are 100 percent sure, but we are almost confident that it was Oksana Aslanova, a Dagestani citizen," he said. "We have her on file. She was a widow whose husband died in a special operation conducted by our forces. She was then married a few times more, always to terrorists."

Scores injured, 33 people were hospitalized, with eight in serious condition and one in "extremely serious condition," Oleg Solagai, a spokesman for the Russian health ministry, told the Russian news agency Rossiya24. There were children among the dead.

A severed head found at the site of the bombing is suspected to be that of the woman who carried out the attack, making it "possible to identify her," a Volgograd law enforcement source told the Russian news agency Interfax. Investigators have reason to believe the woman came from Russia's Dagestan region, the source told the agency.

Al-jazaeera reports a female suicide bomber set off a blast in a train station in the southern Russian city of Volgograd that killing at least 18 people, news reports and officials said.

Regional interior ministry spokeswoman Svetlana Smolyaninova told the ITAR-TASS news agency on Sunday that the blast occurred inside the train station Sunday at around 12:45 pm.

Al-Jazeera adds that a National Anti-Terror Committee official told the RIA Novosti news agency that the blast was set off by a female suicide bomber.

An Investigative Committee spokesman told Interfax that at least 13 people were killed. 

ITAR-TASS said the blast occurred near the metal detectors stationed at the entrance to the city's main train station, notes Al-Jazeera.

Israel Hit by Rocket Attacks from Lebanon

The jihad in Syria widens and escalates. These rocket attacks against Israel will garner little press and even less attention from the "international community." But as soon as Israel responds (and I hope they pound back), there will be howls and resolutions against the tiny Jewish state.

Residents of Israel’s north woke up this morning (December 29) to rockets fired from Lebanon into Israel. The rockets landed west of Kiryat Shmona, an Israeli city near the Lebanese border. IDF forces responded with artillery fire toward the source of the launch.

At least five rockets were fired from Lebanon, with one confirmed explosion in Israel. The IDF is currently searching for evidence of others.

In response to the attack, an official complaint was filed to UNIFIL, the United Nations force charged with maintaining security in Southern Lebanon and preventing hostilities against Israel. While no injuries were reported, the attack constitutes an unacceptable and blatant breach of Israel’s sovereignty.

Launching rockets from Lebanon into Israel jeapordizes thousands of civilian lives in the north, a reality no sovereign state would accept. The IDF maintains the right to self defense and will continue to operate accordingly.

 

 

More and more Muslim volunteers from Western countries waging jihad in Syria

How could so many Muslims get it wrong in the exact same way? It's one of the great mysteries of the universe, is it not? (/sarc tag off) Millions of Muslims reading the same Islamic texts and teachings and understanding them in exactly the same way for 1,400 years. Hmmmm, who is the misunderstander? The deniers of reality hardwired for delusion or the devout Muslims waging jihad?

Muslims from Europe, the US, and Canada, as well as Africa and beyond, all going to Syria for the same reason. Apparently they didn't get the memo on "misunderstanding" Islam.

About 20% of 10,000 foreigners, who are fighting on the side of islamist militants in Syria, came there from Western countries, and their number in percentage terms is increasing, reports Strategy Page—an American website, specializing on military themes—with the reference to the information of the Israeli intelligence service.

Besides that, according to estimates of the Israeli secret services, this year no fewer than 15,000 militants of Hezbollah have participated in the fighting in Syria. The majority of them arrived there for several months, as many supporters of Hezbollah in Lebanon have a negative attitude to the fact that fighters from this movement are joining one of the sides of the Syrian conflict.

Strategy Page reports that Britain's reaction to the information on its subjects fighting in Syria was to revoke the passports of 20 of the 240 British Muslims, who, according to information of the Israeli intelligence services, are warring in Syria. This step has provoked protest from British Muslims, but the British government has stated in response that the British citizenship is a privilege and not a right, especially for those who legally hold passports of two states.

The website's sources in the Israeli special service have acknowledged the fact that their intelligence services are coordinating their action on the territory of Syria with intelligence services of Western countries, and are secretly collaborating with intelligence services of Arab countries. The information received by these joint efforts indicates that the militants are losing ground under pressure from the government forces, mainly because of lack of unity among the rebels and the conflicts between insurgent groups, which are becoming more frequent.

VIENNA — Iran is taking steps to improve its ability to speed up uranium enrichment, which could delay implementation of a nuclear deal with six world powers because Tehran’s moves are opposed by the United States and its allies.

Iran’s nuclear chief, Ali Akbar Salehi, said late Thursday that his country is building a new generation of centrifuges for uranium enrichment but they need further tests before they can be mass produced.

His comments appeared aimed at countering criticism from Iranian hard-liners by showing their country’s nuclear program is moving ahead and has not been halted by the accord.

But two officials familiar with Iran’s nuclear activities said Tehran has gone even further by interpreting a provision of the interim Geneva nuclear deal in a way rejected by many, if not all, of the six powers that sealed the Geneva deal with Iran.

They told The Associated Press Friday that Iranian technical experts told counterparts from the six powers last week that some of the cutting-edge machines have been installed at a research tract of one of Iran’s enriching sites. They gave no numbers.

Teen in Beirut bombing 'selfie' dies News.com.Au, December 28, 2013

A car bomb in Beirut has killed six people including an influential economist and former finance minister.

A LEBANESE teenager seen posing for a group "selfie" in front of a bomb-laden car moments before it exploded in the capital Beirut has died of his injuries.

"The number of victims from the attack rose to seven after the death of young Mohammad al-Chaar this morning, succumbing to his injuries at the American Hospital in Beirut," said Lebanon's official NNA news agency.

Following Friday's bombing in the heart of Beirut, AFP photographers saw the 16-year-old lying on the pavement, his head bloodied, before he was taken to hospital with severe injuries.

Chaar had been identified online as one of four youths seen posing in a group selfie posted on social media networks in front of the car that exploded moments later.

The picture went viral on the internet, and the confirmation of his death sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media websites like Facebook and Twitter.

Among the six other people killed in the attack was Mohammad Chatah, an influential economist, former finance minister and ex-envoy to Washington who was also a close aide to ex-prime minister Saad Hariri.

Dozens of people were also wounded in the bombing, which officials said was caused by 50-60 kilograms (110-132 pounds) of explosives.

Chatah is to be buried at the mausoleum of Hariri's father on Sunday, which President Michel Sleiman has declared a national day of mourning.

Rafiq Hariri, the then prime minister, was killed in a suicide bombing on the Beirut seafront on February 14, 2005.

CNN's Brian Stelter: Media "overreacted" to Boston Marathon jihad bombings

According to these trolls, we also overreacted to Pearl Harbor and September 11. And don't even think about bringing up Hiroshima.

Apparently not enough women and children died for Brian Stelter. He shares the same sense and sensibility of the jihad killers. What's irksome is that these are the voices Americans are exposed to on a daily basis. Voices of reason, logic, and Americanism are blacklisted from the airwaves.

Yes, what's everyone getting so worked up about? It was just a jihad mass murder. It isn't as if it was an attack from "right-wing extremists." "CNN's Brian Stelter: Media "Overreacted" To Boston Marathon Bombings," from Real Clear Politics, December 27:

CAROL COSTELLO, CNN HOST: Brian, the kind of coverage that the media obviously is not going to change; I would predict that it's going to be like this for some time to come and that's partly why journalists are as admired as lawyers and car salesmen. And I apologize to lawyers and car salesmen. So what's the answer?

BRIAN STELTER, CNN SENIOR MEDIA CORRESPONDENT: Well partly, it is to seek out a variety of sources. I remember when I read about Glenn Beck's comments, about that Saudi national, I was curious about him. So I was able to search other sources and you know it turned out a week and a month later. Places like Media Matters reminded us that Glenn Beck seemed to be wrong about that one.

You know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I wonder if the press overall in retrospect overreacted to the attacks in Boston. It was a very scary week. I was scared along with the rest of the country.

In retrospect I wonder if there was an overreaction in the press because considering the relatively low -- low number of deaths and injuries. Now whether it was taken out of proportion, given all the other violence we see all the time. Because the word "terrorism" was applied, I think there may have been an overreaction for that reason.

 

Saturday Night Cinema: The Thomas Crown Affair

Tonight's Saturday Night Cinema is one of my all time favorite post Hollywood's golden age classics, The Thomas Crown Affair. Starring the sleek, sharp and ultra fashionable Faye Dunaway and the stuff of man-crushes, the hunky Steve McQueen, it's a smart, sexy, modern love story. When men were men and women wanted them that way. ~Swoon~

I was like all of ten years old when I first saw this, and that's who I wanted to be when I grew up. Dunaway was an inspiration -- her beauty, self confidence, intelligence, fashion, (those lashes!) and wit pitted against McQueen's tough, cool, reserved machismo was the feminine ideal.

The Norman Jewison film tells a crackerjack story, well-tooled, professionally crafted and fashioned with obvious meticulous care.

The movie is a game of wits, a chess game, and interestingly enough, the chess scene is one of the great erotic scenes. I only recently became aware that some of the chess moves in that scene showed parts of the famous chess match, Zeissl-Walthoffen, Vienna 1898.

Hot stuff, kids.

"THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR," starting Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway and directed by Norman Jewison (of "In the Heat of the Night"), is just the movie to see if you want to see an ordinary, not wonderful, but highly enjoyable movie—of which there have been so few this year. In a way it is the last word in a girl's career versus love story; Miss Dunaway plays a single-minded insurance investigator determined to arrest McQueen, a millionaire who robs a Boston bank to express his alienation from the System. It is not quite clear why she pursues him in a monomaniacally professional way, but the ending is just right and it is very important not to walk in late and see it before the beginning, which is the lovely robbery itself.

..... there are a lot of good things; McQueen is always special, and although this role is too indoors and formal, for him, he does get a chance to race across the desert, or fly a glider or lounge on the beach, in the casual-intense work he is best at. Miss Dunaway has some nice scenes in which she struggles tearfully with her monomania. Alan R. Trustman, who wrote the screenplay, has tried for some flat, straight ersatz Bogey lines, "I know who I am. Don't you pin your labels on me, Eddy," or "It's my funeral. You're just along for the ride." Sometimes this gets to be like the similes (He, after a date: "Tomorrow night?" She: "What about it?" She, at police headquarters: "Say good-by to Irwin, dear." He: Good-by, Irwin dear." He, at home at chess: "Do you play?" She: "Try me."), but it is worth trying just to hit some idiom that will catch on in the imagination as the old one did. And the final stages of the plot are really admirable.

Also, the robberies themselves are graceful and funny. Peggy Shirley has a pale, screaming walk-on as a nagging wife, and there are a couple of songs, written and sung by Noel Harrison (who recorded Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne"), just put in, almost irrelevantly, as they were in "Up the Junction" to cover the action. They work out very well. The movie opened yesterday at the Astor, the 34th Street and the 86th Street East.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood movement has signed a pact with the al-Qaeda-affiliated radical Salafi organization Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, which claimed responsibility last week for a terror attack in the city of Mansoura, security sources told the London-based Arabic-language al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper.

 

According to the sources, the Muslim Brotherhood has an alliance with another al-Qaeda-affiliated organization. Meanwhile, senior Muslim Brotherhood member Ibrahim Al-Sayed said the Egyptian government's decision to declare the movement a terror organization was meaningless and would not harm the movement. Calling this devout and pious Muslim an extremist is islamophobic.

Notice how this Las Vegas Sun article never mentions the motive for it all, jihad or Islam (although they couldn't escape using "Allah").

When will Muslim world leadership and Muslims everywhere tackle how to correct the millions of Muslims who misunderstand Islam? (/sarc tag off.)  It's islamophobia -- that's the real problem.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — An Islamic extremist leader in northeastern Nigeria says the bloody insurgency will continue because Allah says they must decapitate and mutilate.

In a video newly released Saturday, Abubakar Shekau claims responsibility for the Dec. 20 attack on a tank battalion barracks and says his men would have eaten their enemies, but Allah forbids cannibalism. Witnesses said insurgents put soldiers to flight and set the complex ablaze before they were driven off by a jetfighter.

Shekau warns Christians not to go to churches in this holy month, though Christmas passed in Nigeria with none of the feared terrorist attacks. Five churches were bombed Christmas Day 2011 and dozens of people died.

The extremist leader scoffs at bounties on his head — $7 million from the United States and $312,500 from Nigeria.
