ETA-ESTIMATED TIME OF ARREST BOOK SIGNING AT FM KONTRAKANTXA ROCK CONCERT IN NEW YORK

The book signing at the Fermin Muguruza concert, which took place last Thursday, June 13, at the legendary Bowery Electric, was a first in New York City for Delphine Pontvieux.

“People have their doubts when it comes to setting up book signing events outside the safety zone of a bookstore,” says Pontvieux. “While I enjoy doing those – they are still the best location for book readings, since reading to an audience requires a quiet place to retain people’s attention – it does not really matter anymore when you are just doing a book signing. In fact, I love doing those in locations where people would least expect a book signing to take place at, such as a busy bar, a hip clothing store…or a concert hall.”

No frills or fancy table cover tonight: we just deliver the goods!

The event was held at the Bowery Electric in the East Village, a venue owned in part by Jesse Malin of ex-Coney Island High. While it may seem unrelated to set up a book signing at a rock show, there is reason behind the madness: in fact, Fermin Muguruza, frontman of his band Fermin Muguruza Kontrakantxa, was instrumental in helping Delphine at the time she was doing research for her novel ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest. He is also the man who penned the blurb for the book’s back cover. As for Pontvieux, she has been a fan of his music for almost 30 years, from the time she discovered his first band, the radical ska hardcore basque band KORTATU, back when she was eleven years old.

The FERMIN MUGURURUZA KONTRAKANTXA world tour continues, you can check all remaining tour dates on the official website. (in Montreal tonight at the Francofolies festival)

DELPHINE PONTVIEUX AT PRINTERS ROW 2013 IN PICTURES

Another Printers Row lit fest has passed, and even though Delphine Pontvieux was present only on Saturday to sign her thriller “ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest,”we are happy to report to report it turned out to be a very successful day.

ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest at printers Row

It looked like Chicagoans came out in full force and, blame it on the good weather or a recovering economy, they were eager to check out what’s out there in the literary world, and, yes, people still do love to shop for real books!

Thank you Chicago for your support, and to all the fans who bought ETA in the past years and came to the booth asking about the release of its sequel because they loved the first book so much, fear not, Delphine is hard at work, and we arehoping to see a release out by the end of this year. The tentative title for the sequel is “MIA – Missing In Actun”. Make a note of it so you’re the first one to order it when it becomes available.

Here are a few photos of the booth and the event:

MEET THRILLER AUTHOR DELPHINE PONTVIEUX AT PRINTERS ROW LIT FEST

PRINTERS ROW LIT FEST, Chicago’s long standing open air book fair is taking place this Saturday and Sunday again in printers row in the South Loop.

It is taking place, as every year, along the streets of Polk and Dearborn. Come meet the authors talking, signing and selling their latest work at their booths, browse row upon rows of new and used books, listen to poetry or attend a forum: the schedule of events and activities is packed and you can find it here.

Sting, amongst other stars, will be in attendance this year to present a new story-telling initiative.

As in the past four years, Delphine Pontvieux will be attending the list fest, however she will only be present on Saturday, June 8th, all day.

Mark your calendars to pay her a visit tomorrow and talk about her long awaited sequel to ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest, have her sign a copy of her thriller in the name of a great friend or family member (everyone loves a present, especially when it is not expected!), listen to awesome tracks by various Basque bands from the PINTXATU tapas cookbook, where recipes are not paired with wines, but with a song. She will also have a few pieces from her new equestrian unisex jewelry collection on hand.

You can find her on Dearborn Street, at the AVENDIA PUBLISHING booth, # Q2 (there are maps of the lit fest available everywhere on site).

Free event – Perfect for a family outing.

Delphine Pontvieux has received several awards for her thriller ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest:

2010 French in Chicago Community Awards: Oscar winner in ”Arts and Culture” category
2011 Indie Excellence Book Awards winner in thriller category
Her novel ETA is a five-star rated book on Amazon.

She was also nominated at #1 in top 5 NBC’s local authors and independent publishers to watch for in Chicago.

BARRINGTON ART FESTIVAL

IN BARRINGTON, ILLINOIS • MAY 25 – MAY 26, 2013 • SAT & SUN 10-5 • 130 ARTISTS

Amdur Productions proudly kicks off the season with the fourth annual Barrington Art Festival over Memorial Day weekend. Known for its grand mansions and horse farms, the affluent suburb of Barrington boasts a wealthy population with a deep appreciation of art and buying history. The festival takes place in Barrington’s charming downtown, which is filled with cafes, boutiques and restaurants. Easy listening live music takes place throughout the festival. A centrally located Festival Info Booth and children’s art activities add to the weekend. Admission and parking for the public is free.

The Equestrian Collection is minimalist, yet, refined, in shape. Made of Latigo leather (which is used in saddlery) or colorful cowhide (which was hand-dyed, finished and polished by Pontvieux), it is adorned with various metals such as solid brass and stainless steel.  The Equestrian Collection is a vision of strength, power, fearlessness, beauty and timeless elegance, just like the polo players and their ponies, which inspired Pontvieux as she watched them in action in Wellington, Florida, last winter.

The POLO LIFE at the La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup IX, organizer of the event, commissioned Delphine Pontvieux to create a distinctive piece of jewelry to be presented as a gift during the Trophy ceremony to all the female polo players in competition. The “Stirrup Choker” was born. The necklace became an instant favorite at the event, and received many enthusiastic accolades from the polo players, the media, and the public who got the chance to purchase their own at the Miss Nyet Exhibit in the VIP area.
