Off to America!
My US trip has begun - I flew from London to Los Angeles today, and now have a couple of days to acclimatise before my first event in Huntington Beach on Monday. Then it’s eight more cities in two weeks - a fantastic whirlwind tour… I’ll keep you posted as I go.
For the moment I’m just relieved I got my ghost-hunting kit through customs…

Lockwood Launch Party
On Wednesday night we had a marvellous official Launch Party to celebrate publication of The Screaming Staircase. A large crowd of booksellers, librarians, children’s book afficionados, journalists and fans squeezed into the Old Bank of England pub in central London to enjoy spooky cocktails, equally sinister pies (the pub lies on the site of Sweeny Todd’s infamous barber’s shop), and a fantastic Lockwood cake. My lovely UK editor, Annie Eaton, was the host, and I did a quick speech and reading, before demonstrating the very latest ghost-hunting equipment with two small and very helpful volunteers. I’ll post up some photos shortly. It was a terrific send-off for the UK Lockwood, and a great chance to thank all my friends at Random House, whose hard work and support has made this a really beautiful edition.

Off for a stroll round some of central London’s main bookstores this morning, to sign Lockwood stock. Timings are flexible, but here’s what we’re aiming for:

10.00 Waterstones Covent Garden
10.30 Waterstones Piccadilly
11.15 Foyles Charing Cross
12.00 Foyles Southbank Royal Festival Hall
Don’t forget, I’ll be on Twitter and Facebook later (5pm GMT) to chat live about Lockwood, and indeed anything else!

UK Publication Day!
The sky is blue, the sun is bright, and my cat left a large brown bat outside my back door this morning. The appearance of this (exquisite) creature of the night must be some kind of omen, because today The Screaming Staircase is officially published - in the UK, anyhow. Just a couple of weeks more to wait for the German and US editions.
It feels wonderful that the book is finally out there. I can’t wait to see what the response is. I’m off to my lovely publishers in Ealing later, for a celebration. Tomorrow morning I’ll be visiting the following stores in central London to sign stock:
Foyles St Pancras
Waterstones Coventry Garden
Waterstones Piccadilly
Foyles Charing Cross
Foyles Southbank Royal Festival Hall
No exact times known, as yet. Maybe I’ll tweet my progress as I go…

One Day to Go!
Wow, I’ve been waiting for to say this for a LONG time, so here goes…
Just ONE DAY TO GO to Lockwood’s UK publication!
To celebrate, I’ll be live on BBC 3 Counties Radio later today, on the Nick Coffer show from about 12.30 UK time. You can listen live at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecountiesradio.
Also: on Friday, I’ll visit several London bookstores to sign copies of The Screaming Staircase. I’ll fill you in on the times for these visits later in the week.
