Daniel's Dare by Sasha Devlin

[image error]Daniel Rich and Kaitlyn Dow have been friends for fifteen years, and playing an increasingly outlandish game of Truth or Dare for nearly as long. In love with her friend for longer than she'd like to admit, Kaitlyn prefers to hide in the safety of truths she can guide away from embarrassing secrets. While ladies' man Daniel can't help but push Kaitlyn's boundaries with bolder, sexier dares every chance he gets in hopes that he can finally get his friend to notice how he feels.

With her bed-and-breakfast overbooked, the two are forced to spend the night together. Under the twinkle of Christmas lights and the temptation of mistletoe, Daniel is ready to move their relationship to the next level. Kaitlyn suspects he's still playing a game, and resigns herself to a one-night stand. But she'll soon learn that Daniel is willing to risk any dare to get Kaitlyn to see the truth—that they belong together.

Six Sentence Sunday

The last Six Sunday of November. How did that happen? Are those jingle bells I hear? LOL

He let me sidestep him, then fisted the laces running parallel to my spine. "You'll never find your way from the lower tunnels alone." I ignored the slight scraping of his nail as his finger slid between my gown and silken chemise. "Come on." He tugged. "I'll take you to your room."

Science Fiction Holiday Submissions Call – Carina Press

Carina Press is pleased to announce a call for submissions for our 2012 holiday collections. This will be the only open collection call for 2012 and is an excellent opportunity for authors interested in participating in the normally by-invitation-only Carina Press collections.

Carina is looking for science fiction novellas with a winter holiday theme, to be published digitally both individually and as a collection in December 2012. The novellas should be from 18,000 to 35,000 words and feature science fiction elements as integral to the novella. The stories do not need to be romance, or even have romance elements, but can be straight science fiction, or science fiction with romantic elements, and can also feature elements of mystery, thriller, horror or other sub-genres. Additionally, there is no set heat level for these stories, so they can have no sex, or be ultra-sexy, or anything in between.

I recognize that saying simply "science fiction" leaves room for a tremendous amount of interpretation within the genre. However, this is preferable as I feel narrowing it down too much might leave out something amazing.

Essentially, we're looking for interesting, creative, well-written stories within the science fiction genre that will appeal to readers' imaginations and add to our growing catalog of science fiction stories.

The science fiction holiday collection will be edited by Angela James and  supported by a marketing and promotion campaign both online and in print. In addition,  each author chosen to contribute to the anthology will receive a set number of limited-edition print copies for their own use in giveaways and contests (or to decorate their own bookshelves).

To submit, please send your completed manuscript and synopsis, along with query letter to submissions@carinapress.com by March 15th, 20112. In the subject line, please put SciFi Holiday: Manuscript Title and Author

All submissions will be reviewed and final decision made by April 30th, 2012.

For questions about this call for submissions, please email Angela James at submissions@carinapress.com

Braided Silk by Ella Drake

Rapunzel was made with technologically advanced hair. As a trained Mother agent, Zel can't escape the DNA that makes her a pawn in corporate espionage. Kidnapped and held in a tower on Gothel Island, she falls prey to the sexual allure of her captor's son, Langley, a man whose every tantalizing touch makes her forget she wasn't born human.

Langley Gothel protests the existence of creations such as Zel, but when faced with losing her, he sees the truth: Life is precious, whether born, modified, or shaped in a Petri dish. He does the one thing he thought he'd never do. He has to give up Zel, or become a mod. But will that be enough go get them down from the floating islands and safely to ground?

Six Sentence Sunday

This will be my last share from Eversworn. It will be subbed bright and early tomorrow.

Then, on to the next project!

He couldn't make up his damn mind, because his brain had switched offline ten minutes ago.

The first tentative brush of her tongue lit his skin on fire. Sweat popped along his upper lip and ran from his forehead into his eyes. He blinked to clear his vision and let his head fall back against the wall. Thumped it a few times for good measure. Another lick of pain flared where her teeth met tight buds and tugged hard enough his gut clenched.

Six Sentence Sunday

I am generally being a lazy bum right now. I'm waiting on my CPs to wrap up critting Eversworn (and even doing laundry to escape writing my synopsis). I'm also crossing my fingers this book is ready to roll out for that December deadline. LOL

Also, if you missed my new cover reveal, you can check it out here.

Air whistled around me. Hands groped and dug into my skin. I screamed when claws pierced my arms and the hooks on their feet dug in, holding me immobile so they could fly without fear I would ground them. Squirming, I struggled until I spotted Dillon. He was a dot on the sand. A dark male sitting upon a pale horse, and both were fast becoming miniatures to me.

Facebook Beautification Pt. 2

I think I've blogged about this before–my obsession with beautifying my Facebook profile. I even started a fan page because I'd heard I could use HTML and actually have control over the design of my landing page. Sad, huh? LOL

What got me thinking on this topic again was I got a new cover, for A Hint of Frost, and I LOVE it. Like I am absolutely madly in love with it and want to paste it everywhere. So I redesigned my Facebook pages to show off my new pretty.

This is how my standard page looks:

This is how my fan page looks:

And this is how my landing or welcome page looks:

What I didn't do before was make and attach templates, which I've been asked for since then. If you'd like to try your hand at designing pretties for your pages, right click on any of the images below and save them to your computer.

Banner (long picture, left hand side):

Banner (five pictures across page top):

Landing page (Only for use on fan pages):

You'll need some sort of graphics software to manipulate these templates. GIMPis one free option. Another is Aviary. You may even be able to use Paint.Net to meet your needs.
Happy Beautifying!
