Monday Mayhem
Hey Hey everyone!
It’s August and with that comes my favorite thing – BACK TO SCHOOL supplies. I’m soooo addicted.
I’m also sort of sad because I know my beach time is coming to an end
So there is a big push to get as much time as possible. This year is going to be a little harder. I usually try to have an editing project for August but this that didn’t work out. I’m writing and I can’t find a beach laptop.
Can you ever get tired of this view?
What am I writing you ask? I’m so glad you did ask.
Well, I have this…. My first horror romance – isn’t the cover AMAZING!!!!
And I’m working on What’s in The Pie? This will be romance suspense and I’m seriously thinking it will be on Wattpad. I’ll do a chapter or so a week. Paul is okay with this idea – he loves people dropping in weekly (if you don’t know who Paul is check out my book hooks .
I’ve also decided to get really serious about my finances. Yeah, I know a bit late in the game but a long story of why and I’ve finally kicked those demons to the curb. I just finished reading –
[image error]
I’ll be doing a review and writing about my late life money journey – on It’s Never too Late to Start.
I got this finance/budget planner….
It scares the crap out of me! Like I break out in hives and start foaming at the mouth wanting vodka every time I open it. But hey, I’m doing it. It was a referral from Shay Budges. I love her! While she’s young and rocking the world I still find a lot of what she has to say inspiring and useful.

August and September Master Menu plan and recipes
One of the things I’m doing that I did all the time when my kiddos were young but sort of stopped when I became a -very brief- empty nester is long term menu plan. I did the month of August and half of September. I bought everything that was on sale this week for the dishes for those 8 weeks. I know this saves me money and time but when it was just me, I didn’t feel the savings was there.
And because it is the end of the summer, I’m stocking up on winter lotion. Lotions are big to me. In the summer I’m an aloha based lotion. This is my favorite is Banana Boat
But for winter, which can be brutal here in my part of Michigan – anyone heard of polar vortex, I use Hemp lotion.

This week’s mermaid color – Sally Hanson’s Flashionista
Do you switch lotions with seasons? What are some of your favorite?
As far as the Keto/diabetic friendly diet is going. Last week was okay until Sunday – then oh man did I fall off the wagon! The wagon ran me over and then left. It was many miles down the road by the time I woke from my carb hangover. But now that I’m on a menu plan, I think days like yesterday should fade away. Some things I have on them that I’m excited about – Zucchini bites, mashed cauliflower with pizza steak, and beef taco lettuce wraps. I’ll post my thoughts and share recipes on Thursday’s Tasty and Thirsty.
Any one try anything good keto or low sugar they would like to share?
And finally, today is national underwear day. Why? And how am to celebrate this???

Tasty Thursday
Hey Hey everyone! Welcome to this week’s Tasty Thursday!
I did really good this past week on my Keto adventure. I’m still using Eat This Not That and Eating Well for most of my recipes and meal plans. However, I did make a grill cauliflower salad that was AMAZING – from my own. I mean I loved it more (okay maybe not more) than a doughnut.
The first picture is Nut & Coconut Granola – I ate in my yogurt with raspberries. A very nice summer breakfast. The recipe is in the Eat This Not That.
The second Zucchini Fritters with Dill Yogurt from Eat Well.
The above is summer squash and zucchini noodles with homemade sugar free marinara sauce (super easy – 2 cans of tomato sauce (sugar and salt free), 1 sprig rosemary, 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, garlic to taste, and chopped onions, carrots, zucchini, dump into a crock pot and cook on low for a couple of hours).
Hands down the star of the week was the grilled cauliflower salad. Which I didn’t take a picture of – of course

WIP Wednesday
Hey Hey! Welcome to WIP Wednesday. Today, I’m sharing the opening scene for my romance horror… Jar of Souls. If you want to see the amazing cover after reading the scene, there is a link for where I’m doing a cover reveal. And I also share a little back story.

Let’s just say she wanted pizza
but….
ended up in a battle with this guy.
“Mommmmiiieeee,” the little girl screamed. She pressed against her pillow and pulled her blanket tight. Katria knew the feeling. Hoping the blanket would somehow become a shield and make the monster go away.
“Shhh, sweetie, it’s okay,” Katria cooed. “I’ll make the monster go away.” She swung into the room and let the window down.
“Who are you?” the little girl whimpered. A dancing unicorn nightlight filled the room with weird dancing shadow and covered the girl’s face giving a monster like mask.
“I’m the person who is going to kill the demon spawn before it possesses you.” Katria flashed her best smile.
“It’s a demon?” The girl croaked. “I thought they lived in Hell. I’ve been a good girl, why am I in Hell? And what is possesses?” Tears reflecting the pink light rolled down her cheeks.
“You’re not in Hell. Stay under the blanket, I don’t want you get burned by the blood when I blow the motherfucker up.” She eyed the demon. Six glowing orange eyes burned with hatred. Thick claws scraped across the floor.
“Mommmmm,” the little girl screamed again and moved to the edge of her bed.
“Get out that bed and you will die. And stop yelling, your mother can’t help. She’s probably dead.”
Again, the girl screamed but she’d moved deeper into the blankets.
“You have a real way with kids,” Thaddaeus announced stepping out of the shadows. “This will scar her for life, and you tell her that mom is dead, and she could get burned by demon blood?”
“Sorry, guess the witches the missed nurturing the lesson while raising me,” she rolled her eyes and drew out the gun. “Shit.” She shook the empty gun.
“If you stopped buying your water guns at the dollar store all the holy water wouldn’t leak out.”
The demon stopped and looked at her. His mouth opening revealing rows of jagged teeth. He burped releasing a cloud of toxic gas. If the gas seeped into a human host, the demon would go from a slight pain in her butt to a major boil on her ass.
Thaddaeus darted across the room and pulled the blanket over the girl’s head. She screamed.
“Who’s lacking in the kid skills now? You know she thinks you are trying to kill her,” She retorted and ran towards the demon pulling a scarf up over her mouth and nose. She was like ninety-nine point nine percent sure that the demon couldn’t invade her body but why take that chance?
She kicked ramming her foot into the side of the demon’s head. It burped again.
“Is that what you were going for? I mean I thought you were to contain it not let it find a host in this dimension.”
She glared at the ghost. Why her? She asked herself for the twelfth million time since that day so long ago that had landed her in a life of nightmares.
“Think you can do better?” She snarled and drew the star blades. They were covered veity oil. Swinging her arms in a wide rotation, she sliced through the demon’s thick skin. Howls of anger filled the room, shaking the walls and rattling the windows. Plaster fell from the ceiling. The pictures the girl had colored and hung on her wall burst into flames.
“He’s a bit of a drama demon,” Thaddaeus stated shaking his head. “Do hurry up and return to your rightful place before this sweet child suffocates.”
“This is the best you have?” A voice sounded from behind her. “A first level demon and you can’t subdue it?”
She rolled her eyes. How the fuck did she get off this roller coaster circling through the nightmare known as her life.
“We’ve got,” she and Thaddaeus said together. She whispered the spell and released the power into the demon’s wounds. She dove another foot into the things face. Totally unnecessary but the appearance of Samuel rocketed her anger level off the charts.

My favorite holiday…and a treasure hunt
I know most people don’t consider back to school a holiday – but I do! It’s not the excitement of the kids being gone. The thought of six hours of solitude to write.
NOPE!
It’s the school supplies!!!! I love them – hard. I’m talking backpacks, pens – oh, my the pens, and notebooks.
My favorite backpack –
[image error]
A few of my favorite journals and pens and planners
[image error]
I may have a collection of doughnut notebooks…because well – they have doughnuts on them!
I also happen to have a slight addiction to planner stickers. Okay, let’s be honest, I have a major addiction to planner stickers. *sigh*
This time of year the store has rows of post-it notes, new pens that need to be tried, and notebooks/journals that call to me. It’s my holiday! But it’s also the time to a responsible adult and make sure my kiddo has everything he needs.
Getting kiddos ready for schools can be EXPENSIVE – especially if mom needs all the things too. What I did with my first round of kids (this is my 2nd time around) and I plan on doing with my 7 year old – coupon and sale shop or make a treasure hunt.
this Sunday’s treasure maps
Yup no big surprise. While I’m the first to admit that coupons aren’t what they once were, however, back to school coupons – ROCK!
I make back school shopping a ‘treasure hunt.’ We make a list (older kiddos make their own list) of treasure – school supplies. NOW the trick is to find it. It has to be at least 30% off. If it’s under 30% then they need a coupon.
The kiddo that can save the most on his/her treasure is the winner and get’s to pick out the night before school dinner AND wins a trip to the ice cream shop. This added incentive worked to drive them to ‘hunt’ for the best bargains – and it made it fun.
My now adult kids still talk about planning their treasure maps (which stores they wanted to go to).
Yup my favorite time is here

If I Tell You, I’ll Probably Have To Kill You – #MFRWhooks
Oh, I’m so glad you are here. Welcome! Please do have a seat. I so love company but like I said during the last …
[image error]
I so rarely get any. In case this is your first visit, I’m Paul. I know for those of you returning you wondering about dinner with Tanzia, well if you must know it didn’t go so good. Which really upsets me. My brothers have always said I’m over sensitive. But enough about that…that…person.
To cheer myself up, I have been practicing my baking. I’ve made a pie…a very special pie that I’m going share with a special lady. Oh don’t worry she isn’t anything like Tanzia. Everyone gets so caught up in the ingredients. I like a surprise, don’t you?
I hope you like this week’s hook…
The front door opened. Shelby glanced around. Excitement pulsed through Paul freezing him. He couldn’t breath. His heart paused. Would she see the box?
She drew her brows together in puzzlement as she bent down. He couldn’t control the laugh the escaped. She’d seen it! He’d spent all night working on the pie. Weeks going over ingredient combinations.
It took all his self control to remain in the car when Shelby picked up the box and lifted the lid. She smiled.
Yes, she smiled. His only regret was he would get to see her face when she tried it. But soon.
“I’ll be back, Shelby and I’ll have an entire meal prepared for you.” Paul started the car and drove away as Shelby walked back inside. She’d taken his pie with her.
Thanks for reading. I do hope you will buy the book and find out what happens next. I do enjoy entertaining.
This week’s book hook was brought to you by Paul…who may or may not be a serial killer

Grilling
[image error]
Hey hey everyone! Welcome to tasty and thirsty Thursday. I know Monday I said I was going to make cloud bread for my Keto diet…it’s been in the 90’s with the humidity in the 90’s and high pollen…so unless it has air conditioning I haven’t been able to hang out. The only room with air conditioning in my house is the bedroom. And any cooking happening in there isn’t the kind that is appropriate for this blog post

Summer lovin’ Music
Hey hey everyone. Hope you have a great week! It’s warm…I’m talking seriously warm – when it gets into the upper 80’s kissing the 90’s in my part of Michigan things have gotten serious…It’s beach time!!!!!
And love is in the air in the summer – people are out enjoying the weather. The beach. Bonfires. Maybe a few drinks…
[image error] [image error]
And how can you NOT fall in love – because it’s In the Air Tonight – this is covered by VonLichten ft. Jessica Carvo (and was played on Lucifer and everyone knows Lucifer can rock love)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqQAHeUFkys
In the Moment also does a good cover – (but no Lucifer and well that’s a thing)

Hey hey everyone…[image error]
How was everyone’s week? I was crazy busy!!! But I did do some fun stuff…
Went to a petting zoo with the grandson – you know a good is going to had when you have signs marking spitting zones…
[image error]
Was part of a book release for … Chocolate Vanilla Swirl
[image error]
I did a game of what is your favorite crime show, doughnut, and drink. Of the over 200 people that played NCIS was the favorite crime show with Criminal Minds a close second. Boston Cream doughnuts won by a land slide. And margarita’s were the drink of choice.
I have new shows to try – Live PD, Vera, Blindspot, and Mind Hunter. New drinks to try (when I get to drink) first will be a Miami vice, then in no certain order – a whiteclaw, rhubarb sour, smith and Wesson, amaretto sour and amaretto sunrise, a red headed slut, and a June bug.
Maybe I can get my daughter to try one for Tasty and Thirsty Thursday, I’m going to make cloud bread as part of my Keto journey so I’ll have the report on that and a the Lemon-macadamia nut Cheesecake.
On the personal front – I’m still having planner peace issues but I’m hanging with the Hearthbeathing for my business and happy planner for my personal. I’m leaning heavily on trying either the Epic planner or the panda planner. Has anyone used one of these or are using one? I’d love to hear what you think/thought. My biggest hesitation on the panda planner is the binding. I really like spiral or disk.
And in my quest to become more organized I came across these two Instagram accounts… they are my new heroes…or will be after I’m done curling up in the corner whimpering.

Also, I’ve sort become obsessed with colored mascara. I’m loving the white, purple, and burgundy.
I signed up for Kindle Unlimited when they were offering the free 3 month trial. I down loaded my first book – It’s hard to Kindle read in the summer because I’m outside as much as my lungs will allow. My goal is read all new to me authors – I mean NEW. Not referred or suggested by totally new. I’m reading A Soul’s Sacrifice by Victoria Flynn. Hoping to have it done for Saturday reads.
So, what’s new with you?

Tasty and Thirsty Thursday
Let’s talk Keto… I’m starting down this road. While I had intended to dive in 100% that has happened. I’m a firm 90% in….just a few carbs for snack.
So let’s start at the beginning of how I ended up on this path. Last February I was diagnosis with diabetes. No family history, just me being an individual
