Where The Journey Takes Us
Most of you know that my background is in television news. I was a reporter and anchor as well as a producer for both morning and evening news shows for many years. All those years telling other people's stories, watching their actions and seeing the results really helped me define who I was in the grand scheme of things. It also showed me the kinds of characters I wanted to write about from a fictional standpoint. For me, writing is all about the journey. Every character has a story to tell,...

RIP, Uncle Skip
My heart is heavy today.
I got a message that my husband’s uncle Skip passed away last night. My husband has a large family. His mom has 12 brothers and sisters and his dad 7. Out of them all, Uncle Skip was special to me. He always had a joke, a smile and a kind word.
When I published my first book, one of the first people to make a fuss about it was Uncle Skip. At this family picnic he embarrassed me to death, wanting to know which one of my books was “raciest”. Right there...

Monday at the Movies
I was thinking about movies this morning. I don't watch a lot of them, especially in theaters, because sitting still for two hours is way down on my list of Things I Like To Do. When I do watch, it's usually old ones on TV or DVD, so I don't spend a lot of time thinking about them.
Except for when I do. Today's thoughts had to do with what movies influenced my life as a romance writer.
The first one, which was also one of the first movies I ever saw at a theater--and to add to my God-she's-old-...

15 Things About Me
1. I like all things Disney except Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Rodents scare me.2. Lately, I've been trying all natural face, hair and body products. I make all of them myself using recipes from the internet. The face scrub is delicious. Who can resist greek yogurt, cinnamon, honey and cloves? Can't wait to try the avocado hair conditioner. Yeah, this is starting to sound weird.
3. I'm a coffee addict, but only during the week. Sometimes it drink it on weekends.
4. I hate my forehead. I think it's...

Fifteen Obscure Things About Me
1) My earliest memory is from when I was almost two--I'm in a stroller that clacks across the hot cement tiles. It's a warm day and I'm happy. It's Disneyland circa 19632) When it's hot out--like it has been recently--I like to sleep with my head at the foot of the bed.
3) My dad was a cook/baker/cake decorator in the Navy for 20 years. And I always had the best birthday cakes. One year he made me a Dennis-the-Menace cake.
4) My sisters are my best friends.
5) My staple snack is cinnamon J...

Can There Really Be 15 Things...
This week we're sharing 15 things with y'all that you (probably) didn't know about us. I'd like to say there is a LOT about me you didn't know, but I'm kind of an open book. So...We'll see how far I get before you guys are nodding off.15. I have my very first grand-nephew - a little guy born this winter at 25 weeks who is now my hero because he has not only survived but his is THRIVING.
14. I absolutely love auto-biographies, and even though I know most are ghost-written, as I'm reading I hear...

Me, Me, Me...15 Random Facts
This week at the wranglers, Margie thought it might be fun to share 15 random facts about ourselves. Check out what Liz said yesterday and what Kristi, Margie and Shawn share the rest of the week. I'm not that exciting, and a lot of these most of you already know, but here goes:
I have an only child, Brandi. The light of my life.I started riding horses when I was three years old on a black Shetland pony named (what else?) Beauty. All my life I’ve longed to have my own cattle ranch, spec...

15 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ME—AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU REALLY DIDN’T WANT TO?
1 While I love the beach, riding in a boat, and staring at the Gulf of Mexico for hour after mindless hour, the truth is that I’m white-knuckle terrified of water. I need a Valium (or many, many bubbles) to step into a bathtub with more than six inches of water in it..
2. I have seven grandchildren. They are perfect. I call them the Magnificent Seven. What’s that you say? Oh, you did know that. I’ve mentioned it—how many times?3. I am an extreme morning person. 4. I want to visit all 50...

Happy Fourth of July!
Today's festivities will be held at my house. The whole clan will be here, filling the house and the backyard. We have from out of town visiting, so there will be quite a few extra people here. Hubby will fill up the baby pool, so the little ones can play and exhaust themselves. Temp is supposed to reach 84 degrees. We'll fire up the grill, then eat ourselves silly. We'll laugh, joke around, dance, and talk about old times. Tonight, the fireworks will start. I love to watch the grandbabies fa...

HAPPY FOURTH!
Not many of you know this, but Ft. Vancouver hosts the biggest display of fireworks west of the Mississippi. Yep, that’s our claim to fame. I’m surprised it’s not on the Welcome to Vancouver signs when you cross the Columbia River and enter Washington. We’re that proud of it.Growing up, I didn’t know we held such an esteemed celebration. We celebrated like most families, buying an assorted budgeted box of fireworks. Usually a Whistling Pete was in there, some cone thing, a handful of snakes,...
