Before this catches on with miserable adult babies reblogging to only add “KILL IT WITH FIRE” or some other idiotic, unfunny meme:
This is a mature female spider of the Nephila genus. I’m not sure the exact species, but members of this genus are also known as “golden silk orb weavers.” Their yellow-orange silk can be used to make golden cloth, like in this tapestry.
The bite of a Nephila isn’t serious. Wikipedia describes the worst case scenario - localized pain or a more severe allergic reaction - but most bitten will only experience a little itching. Like any spider, they only bite in self defense or when forcibly pressed against skin, and these big females are especially docile. I’ve held a related species on two occasions, they don’t scare very easily.
They’re so laid back, in fact, and so insistent on remaining in the same web, that these are the spiders some cultures have used as mosquito guards, deliberately setting them up to spin webs in open windows or over the top of a baby’s crib.
You can trust spiders with babies. Don’t be an asshat about your phobia plz. (By which I mean it’s perfectly okay to have a phobia and be afraid, but you don’t need to hate all spiders and wish they were all dead they didn’t do anything but get born spiders)
Wow that cloth is amazing!
Also, thank you for calling people on their need to reblog for spiderhate. If you legitimately have a phobia, that’s one thing. But I don’t think genuinely phobic people would reblog it! If it was a picture of a puppy or a kitten and people wrote half the things I’ve seen people write about spiders, people would freak out. But it’s ok because they’re ‘just spiders’.
Also, OP, bonus points for ‘adult babies’.
(Yes this is something I feel very strongly about. *deep breaths*)
Anyway. The whole spider/crib thing? Genius. And that cloth. I can’t get over it.

Or a cosy scarf.

It’s BDSMonday!
Today’s thought is sort of related to one of the first BDSMondays I ever posted, the one about tops needing safewords, too.
I’ve noticed that it’s usually portrayed, and I’ve seen, that tops are the ones pushing limits and wanting to go further, with the bottoms being reluctant or more cautious.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to tell you—it does happen the other way around! I’ve seen it! Why, just the other night, my Sir and I were doing some knife play. We used to do quite intense knife play, stopped for a few years because our living situation sucked and we didn’t really do any play whatsoever. We recently started knife play again, and while I was very much gung-ho and immediately wanting to return to the advanced level we had left off at, my Sir needs time to work back up to that and make sure he’s comfortable.
TL;DR: Not only are tops (Doms, Masters, etc.) allowed safewords, they are also allowed to have and express limits.

My wife got zebra finches last night.
My tuxedo cat is very sensitive, so he’s been really insecure since the birds arrived. He was actually heeling earlier today. We’ve been giving him extra love and attention today (he’s curled up in my lap right now. On one hand he likes it and he’s relaxed a little, but I think he also knows we’re making a special effort.)
We were in the cat-free room with the birds, and the cats were looking in the window at us. He sat there with the most heart-breakingly sad expression, one paw on the window. So, lots of love for him today
