“They say that just as the parent must at some point release the child to the world, the creator much release the creation. Otherwise you stop it in its tracks, strangle its growth. Then you become not only its creator, but its executioner.”

Since I didn’t write any fanfiction today, I shall self-indulgently post another snippet of original.
Today, we have genderfuckery, a PTSD rage/breakdown, past slavery, suicidal loyalty, and an unhealthy relationship.
It’s a moderately disturbing piece, though I’m not sure it makes any sense without all the (thus far mostly unwritten) context.
If it doesn’t make sense and you care enough to find out, you can always fanmail me and I can explain.

Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

I’m gonna admit that I have no idea what this is from, but I love the message.

Let’s play ‘were those fireworks or did someone on my street just get shot’

Almost as much fun as “are the screaming children playing, throwing a tantrum, or getting kidnapped”

Oh man, kids screaming almost got my sister and I in a really bad jam. We took a paddleboat to a floating platform in the middle of a lake. Normally, I’m really good at knots, but apparently not that day, because the paddleboat floated away. Leaving us stuck in the middle of the lake. We started screaming for help, but our parents just assumed that it was those idiot kids screaming again.

So I swam after the paddleboat, but when I caught it, I couldn’t get into it, and I could barely manage to pull it. Finally, our parents showed up in a canoe and everything was fine. But ever since then, I want to murder kids who are just screaming like idiots while they play. It’s like, did none of you read “The Boy Who Cried Wolf"?

Friendly reminder that you’re allowed to like a thing without knowing every single fact about the thing

You’re allowed to like a movie without having to know every crew member’s name

You’re allowed to like a book without having to memorize every page

You’re allowed to like a video game without having to know all the Easter eggs and cheat codes

You’re allowed to like things and not be an expert on things

Liking things isn’t supposed to be  stressful

My cell phone’s ringtone is Soldier from Team Fortress 2 saying, “Beep boop, son, beep boop."

It rang while I was at my family reunion, and my grandma gave me one of those, “WTF was that?" looks.

I told her it was from a video game, and what it was saying.

I’m 98% certain that she thought I said, “Big boob, son, big boob."

have you ever cried over a character

i don’t mean in the way a lot of people say like “OMG ALL MY FEELS MY CREYS”

no

i mean

have you ever felt such emotion towards a character that you just cried

because you wanted to be with them and help them and make them feel better

because they’ve helped you so much but you can never do the same for them

“…why does anyone create? You feel a…a restlessness inside, a need to make something new, something no one has ever seen before. You want to add to the beauty and the richness of the world with a gift, an offering that is uniquely yours. It’s an act of selfishness and generosity, all rolled into one.”

- Bruce Coville, “The Last Hunt" (The Unicorn Chronicles: Book IV)
